Worked half an hour ago. Down right now.

Image appears on the map, appears in the smartphone app as "Sold for the 1st time," but not in the earnings sheet on the app or website. Happened twice today. Hopefully just a glitch...

Never happened during my entire time here until two days ago. Wonder why this is happening.

Shutterstock.com / Re: New submission editor page
« on: November 12, 2017, 07:33 »
I don't like it. The old page worked fine, and all the keywording tools weren't squished to the right of the screen. Having to click on "mark all keywords as correct" adds another useless step to the submission process.

Some the harshest, sadly most are true, comments that Ive received while in the business that came from my mentors, other artists and family members
You dont make enough to even pay to recharge your batteries
   What were you thinking
   Nobody will buy that image
   Were you drunk
OMG! Sell your camera because you suck
   An eight-year-old couldve done better
Spraying and Praying for just one good image
You will never make even fifty dollars a month with your skills
 :-\

Doesn't really matter what job you have does it now? There will always be people who talk $hit about what you do. If you really think these comments are true, you might as well quit the business.

You should stick to marijuana though think there might be an unfilled niche there

I tried but I think could have done a better job. What do you think?

Reminds me of the guy on shutterstock with his port of 10,000+ images of only marijuana at different angles.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Are new images selling?
« on: August 01, 2017, 00:33 »
No. My new images sell in around 3-4 days. Some sell almost instantly. I guess it just depends on a lot of random factors.

I would probably get the D750 second hand, which can be had for around 1,100 euros on ebay. Been using the D610 for around two years. It's a great camera, great enough AF unless doing fast action, but my biggest gripe with it is the grip. It's a bit too narrow and short, and using it for the entire day with something like a 80-200 or 105 vr will make your fingers really sore. The D750 has a better grip as well as a tilting screen and the ability to change the aperture in live view, something Nikon STILL does not have in lower end bodies like the D610.

Just got some videos of F-35 aircraft rejected due to intellectual property issues.
After I requested explination SS reps told me they treat all national symbols as proteced elements, hence the national air force (IAF) signs on the plane wings are what caused the rejection.
I recently consulted an IP lawyer who specifically told me that all national symbols are Creative Commons.
I know for a fact that the american Eagle, or the Israeli star of david are not, and will never be, protected.

how should I deal with this?
They are abviously wrong...

The F35 Jet's design is the intellectual property of Lockheed Martin, therefore, there may be copyrighting issues. If you really can't upload it as a commercial video, then you can still upload it as an editorial video.

I think one area Adobe should improve is with the rejections reasons, especially when the reason is due to a "lack of aesthetic/commercial appeal." The reviewer should say why they do not think the images are suitable. I find that Adobe often rejects images with a medical/science theme, despite such images selling very well once accepted. Other stuff, like landscapes, get accepted more easily, but in my experience, rarely get sold.

Is this over or under exposed?

Check the histogram. I always make sure that the whites aren't blown out, or the blacks crushed. As for rejections, I haven't gotten any rejections, except for one batch ("out of focus") which when resubmitted were all accepted.

Happened to me too. I contacted bigstock through the email alert they sent, and had to go through a bunch of different processes. Account currently temporarily suspended while Bigstock reviews a photo of me carrying my passport to verify. Very inconvenient. IMO there should be a more secure procedure when changing the payment email, e.g. password verification.

Never found low mp images to sell differently in terms of usd per image. Some of my best selling images are even at 4.1 mp, which is practically at shutterstock's 4 mp minimum. In terms of cropping, noise reduction, etc. megapixels give you more options. Storage will be an issue too, especially if you're "trigger happy."

Where is this cave? Surely it would depend on local regulations?

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Nikon d5500 vs Canon T6s
« on: March 01, 2017, 21:20 »
If you are also thinking of doing video, I would recommend getting the T6S. Better yet, try finding a second hand 70D, can probably be gotten for the same price as a new T6S (I think). There really isn't much of a point selling all your Canon gear just to get a Nikon.

General Stock Discussion / Re: I am a happy Contributor
« on: February 25, 2017, 23:04 »
I really can't believe what I am reading in this thread from one positive post Josephine made.
First of all I think it is great that you are so happy creating illustrations whether for yourself or for sale. It's great to see the sale counter click. You can't compare yourself to others, just keep doing what makes you happy.

I started stock in 2007 when I was in a very bad car accident. I was in the Mayo Clinic brain trauma center for 6 months. My camera was the only thing that kept me going. I had to learn to walk, talk and use the camera all over again. If it wasn't for that camera, I would have quit life. I used wheelchairs and mobility scooters to get around for 7 years. I still use the scooter when needed. My body overheats and doesn't regulate blood pressure so it can fall to 52/40 in a minute.
Like Josephine taking pictures is still one of the only things that makes me really happy. I am disabled but looking at me you wouldn't know it. I am only able to shoot for 10 to 15 min at a time.  Whoever said being in a wheelchair defines you as disabled is wrong. There are a lot of disabled people that aren't in wheelchairs.
10 years later, I still love taking pictures and by a lot of hard work happen to be one of Istocks high performers. I am a happy contributor.
All that really should have been said to Josephine was Great, glad you are happy...but no, this forum has to turn everything negative.

A very inspiring story indeed. Glad to see that you are happy with what you are doing!

Shutterstock.com / Foreign text in images?
« on: February 21, 2017, 01:35 »
How am I supposed to translate foreign text in images (eg Japanese) if I am not allowed to put foreign text in the title? Do I just put in the translation? Do I put it in the editor's notes? Anyone with experience on this?

And I forgot to mention:
Unique stupid rejection reasons.

Boss Duncan is on holidays all the time ;-)
and his very brave inspectors see Out of focus or even better:
File is not unique enough for acceptance,
in some SS and Adobe FT bestsellers
4, 5 years ago we are expecting a lot from CS, agree?

I have to a agree with that. The most common one seems to be "inappropriate keywords." I've given up on them for over a year for this reason.

It might have more to do with the way your subject is lit? You might want to get your subjects to wear less brightly colored clothing, or use light modifiers such as a scrim to cut down on the light.
