« on: November 11, 2013, 17:47 »
It's Nov. 11, I still haven't got Alamy payment which is supposed to arrive within a week from Nov. 1.

Has anyone got paid yet?

I just logged in now.

Could not log in when I tried first time a couple of minutes ago. Now it's fine.

Even if the images are filtered or altered, they are still protected by copyright law. Did you contact the site admins?

For FAA, you can see if there were sales, because most people would congratulate the seller, unless the image was sold as a greeting card.

He has a couple comments on there... not a good sign then?

I am going to contact admins tomorrow. What is the best way to do it to make sure they respond fully rather than deleting photo and ignoring me or fobbing off?

Namely I've had not so great experience dealing with local B&B owners and one international hotel booking site. I don't know if this may be similar.

Take a screen shot first.

First of all, you should contact the admins of the two sites.

Then, you can ask them if the images were ever sold. If there was no sales, taking the images down should be sufficient. If there are sales, you can explore more options.

From your message, I am not sure if you meant that the "bad guys" were copying your ideas or stealing your image. Copyright law does not often protect ideas.

General Stock Discussion / A lesson for some stock photo agencies
« on: November 05, 2013, 11:24 »
Just read an interesting article about Blackberry's new CEO and how he led a near death company back to life many years ago: http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/canada/story/1.2355704

Turnaround track record

Sybase was a classic California software start-up from the 1980s. A bunch of computer nerds operating out of someone's basement were suddenly doing deals with Microsoft.

Ten years later, the company had fallen on hard times. That's when Chen stepped in.

According to that 12-year-old interview, Chen's strategy was twofold: to look ahead to what the economy needed next, but also to forget about shareholders who want an instant return and instead work to satisfy employees and customers.

"If the employees are worrying about their jobs every other day," Chen told the Journal, "there's no point how brilliant your plan is, they aren't going to stick around." Whereas when you cater to stock speculators, "You do something, the stock moves up, they sell it."

There is a certain irony in the fact that just before John Chen's arrival, BlackBerry announced it was cutting 40 per cent of its staff.  And with new $1 billion in investment capital raised with the help of Fairfax's Prem Wasta, Chen will have time to try out his new strategies. Chen himself is investing his reputation.

At the moment. i think you are by far the most enthusiastic public istock exclusive. I am not seeing anyone else post so positively about istock like you do. Not even on the istock forums, not on their facebookgroup or other places.

And any public comment, especially a positive one, is free advertising for an agency.

Hmm __ good point. Tickstock could easily be an Istock admin in disguise.

... or a PR agency  :)
I'm thinking they could find someone better to do their PR don't you?

Not at all. You're well worth all the money they're paying you. I just hope they are paying you as it would be really sad otherwise.
I'm flattered.  I also hope you getting paid well by Mr. Oringer.

While I admire Sean's uploading preferences and methodology it is hardly what you would consider to be typical. If he were uploading in a method anywhere close to the average independent contributor his numbers would be significantly higher. The only reason I even mention this is because it is very likely that his results are going to be quoted a bit later on as a reason not to be independent. We need to remember that without subs on DP and 123 and no Shutterstock or DT his numbers are not exactly indicative of a true independent.
If I were to go independent I also wouldn't support those sites.  I think Sean is doing the right thing even though it must be hard.

Also this will likely be my BME or very close when Getty sales come in.

I am sure Sean will succeed, maybe he can contribute to Offset at SS?

Exclusives are probably averaging something over $10 per sale.
I couoldn't possibly speculate on the 'average', but my average in Oct was <half that.

My average in October was about $10 per sales, while September was half of that due to most sales in Main and S collections.

IS: BMY as exclusive, even though the stats for the last week of October are still missing.  Earning was more than twice as much as I had made in September which was my WMY.

FAA: 3 sales, 3rd BMY

Alamay: 0

Overall a good month.

Maybe it is an anomaly but both sales and $ have bumped up nearly double since the changes last month or whenever they happened.  The lower pricing is certainly working for me so far.

October has picked up substantially after a total disastrous September. In the first half of October, the revenue had already passed the total amount of the full month of September.  I hope it continues.

If they wish to attract non-Japanese contributors, they should simplify the tax issue. Too complicated for me at this moment.

What is contributor's cut?

Check the link in the first post.

The price structure detailed below is not fixed at this point.Video clips will be available for credits-only and there is no subscription plan available for now. Royalties are the same: 25-50% for non-exclusive videographers and 60% for exclusive videographers. There will most likely be a level-based price structure and a final decision for the price range will be made in the upcoming weeks, based on the quality of your submissions and also on the feedback we receive from our buyers.

Too low for me.

It is a common practice for other financial institutions to send PIN to my mobile phone, why is it not possible for Payoneer. When I am travelling and need access to cash, going to a public computer with internet access is just too risky.

Another issue I am having is this, say I withdraw cash from ATM, why is it that I got charged twice for a transaction?

We send a reset link to your account e-mail, which is confirmed in our system and the main method of contact we use. You can certainly access that link via mobile e-mail and navigate to the PIN reset form via mobile browser.

Regarding ATM charges, I'm not sure what you mean. We generally charge only a flat fee per cash withdrawal, and no charge for point-of-sale purchases. Perhaps the ATM you were using charged a fee of its own?

If you have a specific transaction to refer me to, please feel free to send me your account e-mail and the date/amount (via PM or email at [email protected]) and I'll be happy to check.

Fair enough, I will do that. Thanks.

Hi Guys,

Payoneer does provide an official payout solution for iStockPhoto, and many other stock photography companies worldwide. iStockPhoto does have their own branded Payoneer card, which I'm sure they offered you, however (as mentioned above) you can also link all your accounts with companies that pay with Payoneer to the same Payoneer account.

We generally recommend this as it is much more efficient and cost effective for you.

The Payoneer card is an excellent solution for you to receive your funds quickly, and at a low cost. If you have any questions about Payoneer, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks again!

I am sorry, it is just NOT an excellent service. The fees are arbitrary and outrageous at times. The services are rude and poor.

Once I was on road and could not remember my PIN. When I phoned, the support number on the card was changed but I didn't know. I finally googled and got the number. The rep told me that she would not help me with the PIN because I must go to PAYONEER website, and request the PIN sent to me by email. But I was travelling and did not wish to use a public computer to log in and check email account which deals with financial matters. It was rather hopeless.

I don't think that's fair criticism. If you dropped your card would you want someone to be able to ring them up and get the pin number to empty your account? Online verification and sending the number to your e-mail does seem a sensible security arrangement.

Many financial institutions and Paypal will reset your PIN and send it to your mobile phone. I lost my credit cards in foreign countries in the past. MasterCard actually couriered it to my hotel.

I'm very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your satisfaction. Card PIN issues are a very sensitive issue, and Payoneer is required to follow very strict rules and procedures regarding forgotten PINs.

Our customer support representatives are prohibited from seeing your PIN, which for security reasons can only be known by you (the cardholder). For this same reason we cannot reset it over the phone, the only solution is to send you a link you can use to set a new PIN using our secure form.

I understand that this may at times be an inconvenience, however financial security for our account holders is a top priority and as a fully regulated US company we strictly comply with all applicable regulations.

In regards to fees, we offer very competitive rates when compared to other solutions that are available. Services we provide in addition to the Payoneer card include global bank transfers, which start at only $2.99 per transfer and are supported in over 200 countries and 50 currencies.
