They certainly downgraded everyone automatically.
Ha, yeah ain't that true! Strange how the agencies never seem to get the downgrading part wrong...

About 10 days ago I should have gone up a royalty tier at bigstock, based on my previous 12 months of sales. But still no change at all. I have emailed support, with no response either.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I seem to remember my previous upgrade just happening when it should.

New search option appeared for me just now, called Undiscovered. New tab after "Random".

So these are files that haven't been downloaded yet?

Should include most of mine.....

Haha, I bet thats what most of us are thinking!

Only such a small percent of most portfolio's sell regularly, it will be interesting to see if this increases the range of sales across a whole portfolio.

So what is the current tally of sites that will close in the next month?

1. Pixmac
2. Photos.com
3. Jupiter Images
4. Punchstock

....any more? We are only 2 months into the year and 4 agencies gone!

but all of those are owned by other sites now? I guess the surest way of removing competition is buying them out and then closing them.

Very true. Just surprising to see how quickly things are changing this year already. Will 2014 be the year of the closure?

EDIT: Just received an email telling me I made a sale at Pixmac - wish it was at Pond5 instead!

« on: February 19, 2014, 20:43 »
Yeah I'm guessing it was a case of two sets of overheads for basically the same thing?

Photos.com would surely be a valuable domain name though - I wonder if they have anything else in store for it?

That's true; - if I had them both, I'd certainly keep photos.com over thinkstockphotos.com.

Yeah I agree. Will they just re-direct from photos.com to thinkstock maybe? I'm not an SEO expert but it would seem a bit of a waste to only have it doing that. My feeling is they have another use in mind for photos.com...

Unless I missed it, I couldn't see this mentioned anywhere over here, so though't I'd give anyone who cares the heads up

http://au.photos.com/help

Photos.com is closing on March 10,2014. Everything basically transferred to Thinkstock. Just gave a quick summary of it here: http://www.microstockman.com/photos-com-closing-march-10-2014/ - basically just the FAQ from their site.

Thoughts on this closing?

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia - higher prices
« on: February 18, 2014, 19:00 »
Not a bug, here is the new list, from their "Sell Pictures" link:

White   20%   1   3   5   7   8   10   20
Bronze   23%   1   3   5   7   8   10   50
Silver   25%   1   3   6   8   10   12   100
Gold   31%   1   3   6   8   10   12   100
Emerald   37%   2   6   12   16   20   24   100
Sapphire   40%   3   9   18   24   30   36   100
Ruby   43%   3   9   18   24   30   36   100
Diamond   46%   3   9   18   24   30   36   100

Previously silver had the same prices as bronze the whole way through the size scale.

I for one am happy for prices to go up a bit. Seems they are experimenting a bit with pricing at the moment, after raising vector pricing a few weeks ago.

this is terrible practise, thanks for pointing it out to us all.

Just slightly off topic - a few have mentioned that their images are already on ShotShop - do you guys mean you sell there direct? I've never heard of these guys. Do they sell much?

Alamy.com / Re: All Rights vectors
« on: January 29, 2014, 19:07 »
BTW, all vectors over there seem to be RF only and it might concern some here to know that Yay is supplying vectors to Alamy. (I have no idea if it's all their vectors, or just some.) Not sure if Yay media AS is the same as YayMicro.

Misleading wording in the ad, I agree.

Yay has an opt out for all partners, including alamy. That is one great thing about them at least. Just go to the API Details page under your account if anyone wants to get rid of the Alamy link.

Hello everyone,

I need to take website screenshots of some model Symbiostock sites.

If possible, I'd like to ask people to volunteer their sites for the Symbiostock.com front-page gallery if possible. Simply post here if you are able.

I'm fine with it - thpstockphotos.com

Will it get a link? ;)

I logged out and the captcha's missing. Looking at the page, it's not that intended to remove it as the code is still in there...

I can log in on my phone just fine - if you just need to see balance and what sold

Yeah I'm logged in on my phone too.

Weird.

Title says it all. Have tried two browsers and the captcha doesn't show up on either, yet it keeps saying the security code is invalid.

Anyone else?

think there's a problem there today, it does EVENTUALLY load and allow login but it takes FOREVER.

There is no doubt at all, no matter how they spin it, this will only mean bad news for contributors...  :(

Any ETA on metadata import for vectors?

Thanks

Pixmac / Re: Pixmac didn't pay on the 15th as per their TOS

Yep, fees should not be the burden of the contributor. The agency should see it as a cost involved in getting their payments issued.

Pixmac / Re: Pixmac merges with Pond5
« on: November 22, 2013, 00:52 »
The mirroring of accounts is a mess. I have requested to have mine looked into at least 3 times now and nothing has changed. I've also noticed they've now removed the link from your Pixmac Profile page to Pond5, so it's harder to see if your images have been mirrored or not.

The mirrored content is cheaper than I have set my Pond5 images at, so I'm not sure whether getting it all mirrored would be a good thing anyway. I thought initially we were told we were going to be able to control our pricing on both sites - am i remembering that right?

Sadly, the day this merger was announced this all seemed like an awesome move. But since then it appears little has been done and even less communicated to us as a community about it.

The staff at both sites are always friendly to deal with, but it just seems that little happens behind the scenes. (e.g.: does the pond5 site even mention that you can now upload vectors? I checked for weeks and could see nothing on there about it)

274
Totally agree, Sharpshot.  FWIW, I haven't heard back from them regarding my request to activate my 90 day wait and delete my portfolio.  No answer at all.

Crickets chirping...

Hey Lisa, when I decided to leave PS quite a while back (great decision by the way), the 90 day period elapsed, plus some, and my images were still online. It took a couple of emails from memory to 'remind' them to remove my account as their contract states. I'm pretty sure it's a manual process for them and it's not high on their priority list so perhaps set a calendar reminder for yourself to double check they are gone after the 90 days.

I really dont get this agency. They keep making very strange moves.

Pond5 / Re: Pond5: What should we improve?
« on: October 10, 2013, 00:45 »
I have some vector files which have been accepted. As far as I see only EPS version is on sale (like SS). But I saw some other vectors in the site with JPEG versions available as option.

I had uploaded via FTP, as EPS plus big JPEG zipped, approx 15 days ago.

So do I have to upload the raster as a seperate file or am I doing sth wrong ?

Thanks in advance.

From what I have seen this (bolded part) is from vector files that have been mirrored over from Pixmac. So if they can do it with Pixmac files then surely they can do it with their own files?

Some nice clear, step by step instructions and guide would be most welcome.
