We get paid the minimum guarantee rate based on our ranking but have we been told what the minimum guarantee rate is?
https://us.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors/Royalties

I've been doing some searching but don't see it listed anywhere.  I thought it was on that page the other day but don't see it now.

Perhaps I'm just blind or am forgetting what we've been told many times already   :-\

That's the subs rate per level.
In the text hover your mouse over the green words "Minimum guarantee", it'll show the rate table per level.

Got it, thanks.  it took me a few seconds to find even after you explained where it was.  I kept looking for the mouse-over on the table to right right...

Are they images you have for sale on a stock site?  Could they have purchased an extended license?

I can remember the day Serban had enough and said he would never come participate here again.  Can't remember why exactly, but that he was attacked and I was a little disgusted with our behaviour.

That's very unprofessional, and if their job includes posting on forums and socials they better learn how to deal with their own user base or find another career.

I had to listen to the most ridicolous BS and trash and even a few insults when i was working in retail, face to face, i've never lost my frame and neither my colleagues or we would have been fired on the spot ...

I don't know why for so many it's so hard to deal with people online and with their complaints, i guess some of them are just plain jerks and they're even more jerks in real life ?

But when you are publicly made fun of for your ponytail and openly hated for the country you are from it is a bit much wouldn't you say? That wasn't the time he left, but I seem to recall that same photographer was pushing the buttons.

Posts like that are highly unacceptable here.  Yes they happen, and the guilty users are banned but it's pretty hard to control it from ever happening.

I don't think there is a single big reason why there is or isn't more agency reps here.

Matt is doing a great job for Fotolia right now and it's easy to see it is a lot of work.  Envato has a ton of people registered on the forum but they haven't been too active recently.  If they launch something new or make changes, they are generally around with very capable people answering questions.  Lee was working with Canva full time last year, and doing a super job answering questions here,  but has now moved back to Argentina and I'm not sure how involved he is with Canva at the moment.  Scott was very active here but he moved on to another job and the person who took over his job hasn't had the same drive to make a presence here.   Brian from Veer was another rep that was very helpful here but moved onto another job... and let's not forget LuckyOliver :) ... they also moved onto other things.  I think the majority of agency reps have simply moved onto other things with no-one to replace them.  Oh, and Marius from DepositPhotos is another one that changed jobs... but was here and did a great job while he worked for them.

Being an agency rep is a tough job and not everyone is cut out for it.  They need to take critique (and attacks) lightly while considering what is (actually) being said - or what the true problem is and try responding to it.  Not everyone is capable of responding to the negative posts in a polite way that isn't an attack back.

several posts removed after one user decided to insult and use coarse language.  Said user has also been banned.

I want to buy one of these

http://www.dji.com/product/phantom-3#page1

But the FAA says I cannot use it legally for selling stock video. Do any of you use drones for aerial stock? Do all the major agencies accept it?

To answer directly.
Yes, stock agencies will accept video from Inspire 1 / GoPro / Phantom 3 Pro (same camera as Inspire) as long as it is stable and reasonable quality.  There is generally a bit of paper work involved but flying drones can be legal is most countries if you do your research.  Norway (where I am based) has a good system to approve pilots to work commercially.  A headache to get everything in order but nice when it is complete.  In retrospect, much of the paperwork and requirements are also very necessary (ie. insurance, proper operation manual, flight logging etc)

There's a big difference. Music Artists seem to be far more collective than us. They withhold content collectively we operate as individuals only interested in our own little world. I  am referring to the big guns. Factories never pull their content collectively.

This wasn't a collective move by the industry.  It was a single artist saying - enough is enough and refusing to add her latest work to iTunes

I just read a few articles on this situation at it seemed very similar to our situation.  Taylor Swift wrote an open letter and complained about the situation in a respectful way and it looks like Apple listened.

I just found it interesting how the music industry is essentially going through the same thing.

To summarize - for those who don't want to follow the links.
Apple is starting a music streaming service and they are offering a 3 month trial for free.  Artists were set to NOT be paid for their music that was paid for these first three months.
In response Taylor Swift refused to release her new album on iTunes in protest and wrote an open letter to Apple explaining her position (linked above)
Apple changed their mind shortly after and announced that they WILL pay artists after all for the three months they are giving away as a trial.

Agreed, if you are interested in flying big drones, fly a little toy drone and get good a flying it.  Fly it forwards, backwards in figure-8's.  If you aren't totally in control all the time with the little toy, no need to try and fly something larger.

Speaking of drones, The Government Canada page, is using my stock photo on their drone page :)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Sales stats into excel

What makes sales data useful is when you can group the same image from site 1 and site 2 and see the total sales from that one image over all the sites it is on.  The only one I know of right now that can do it is MicrostockAnalytics

I am in EU but paid in USD. Just for less. They have to do standard for all and move up if they want attract higher quality content

Why is that?

Those of us who signed up when Fotolia started (or happened to be on the english US site when we signed up) had our accounts set up with the US currency (even though we wer based in Europe).  People who signed up later, and happened upon the EU site when they signed up, got the EU currency.  1 credit = 1 USD = 1 EUR
Those who get to cash out in EUR get a much better deal than those who have to cash out in USD.
Many people based in europe who have USD accounts have asked Fotolia to switch their accounts over to EUR currency but Fotolia hasn't been willing to do so.

 ;D nice

The fotolia categories are driving me crazy. There is no category for objects or just still life and the drop down menu is often unlogical.

It is a really, really painful way to upload like this.

Seriously, if they want more content, why not make it easy and elegant?

Agreed. It is quite illogical. Quite like istocks controlled vocab. It is very specific on some words then totally lacks a solution for another word/subject

3-4 months in advance of the season perhaps.

Christmas is more seasonal than summer though. Christmas only happens once a year while it is always summer somewhere in the world.

StockUploader / Re: Fotolia Price Setter
« on: June 18, 2015, 09:25 »
When gaining level the normal procedure was to write to Fotolia support and and they change the prices for you on all files. Did it two times in the past, from 20 to 50, then later to 100.
Isn't it the same anymore?

I thought it was but last time I tried the person helping me wasnt very helpful and the prices never got changed despite asking several times.

That was a couple years ago now though and it sounds like Matt is able to help out here. Thanks by the way.

Does it work or is it still in development?  After gaining a new level due to the recounting of sub downloads it would be really great to have a tool to raise my prices.

Thanks for the great news Matt.  I'm excited to see how this new move by Adobe affects sales!

I preferred the old system which kept a running total of both positives and negatives. It showed which topics and posts had raised most interest, which had completely divided opinion and where opinion was polarised.

There was never a running total of +'s and -'s ... just a summed up number.  There will still be a list of the most liked posts like before.  I agree, the most ideal would be to show how many +'s and how many -s ... that option isn't the in the plug-in and it's a little too daunting for me to attempt to make it.

Ok - well perhaps it's time to give it a try.

So... back to the 'hearts' or the +'s
Nothing is permanent.. and the icon is still open to critique.  Stats are all kept the same, it is simply a forum setting as to what shows or what is possible to vote on a given post.

it seems many people take more offense to the agree / disagree buttons than intended.  People get worked up for getting a single -

The point of it was to simply give a reader an idea of how popular / unpopular an idea was... if most people agreed or disagreed.  Sometimes someone can make a comment and it looks just as valid as every other comment until you see how many people actually agree or disagree with it.

That said - how things are supposed to work and how they work in practice are two different things.  The disagree button seems to be spreading more hate than it is help.  Perhaps that button should be done away while keeping the agree button.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Copying keywords from Shutterstock?
« on: June 03, 2015, 05:12 »
Thanks BaldricksTrousers,

I might try your suggestions.

I wonder if this problem is due to Shutterstock or maybe it is just my IPTC editing software that is defunct.

Henri

Using the same keywords in every file is rarely a good idea as well.  Vary them a little bit between images to have a broader reach.  if you use the keyword tool that Baldrick mentioned it is very easy to add and remove keywords quickly and not have to check if you are writing a keywords twice

I think you need to make a few posts before the options appear.

yep - that's the correct answer.  The magic number is 5 posts, which you are over now. You should see the Agree / Disagree options.

Let's keep it civil before Leaf closes this thread.

yes - quite agreed.  one post edited for language.
