I guess this is a "how long is a piece of string" kind of question. It depends on so many factors like: what do you want to do with the site, do you want to sell pictures from it or just promote yourself? I am not very experience either at web design but I created my site quite easily with "iweb" (on a mac) in a couple of hours...without too much swearing! Sorry that this is quite a basic answer but I am sure there are much more experienced people on here that can help you. www.nicemonkey.co.uk

I upload there because it really easy to and get quite regular sales sometimes a couple a day then nothing for a couple of days...I guess it averages out to be about 1 a day.
Not sure about the review times as it dosen't really impact on my sales, so the amount of time it takes to review the images is irrelevant.

I really like LO, its just soo easy to upload to. Also I have seen an increase in sales over the last 3 months and normally get at least one sale a day, not much I know in the grand scheme of things but I still believe LO has a future.

Ok, I will have some basic drawing skills on my site within the week. I have just reviewed Adobe Illustrator CS3 on my blog, covering a basic guide to all the new features and how I have used them within my stock images. www.nicemonkey.co.uk

I make half my money on Shutterstock compared to all the other 15 site combined! Maybe its because Shutterstock is such a big part of the market that I target my images for Shutterstock buyers and thus I get a better return on the images. www.nicemonkey.co.uk

You can try Adobe illustrator for a 30 day trial period...its expensive to buy but is the industry standard and now Freehand has bitten the dust is the only (professional) choice. I will be adding some tutorial on my website in the near future. If there is any particular subject you would like me to cover please e-mail me. www.nicemonkey.co.uk

I was wondering how many people submitted svg images to Fotolia? I have just started doing so but I cant seam to get the IPTC data to appear on the site even thou I have entered it using Illustrator CS3.
Does anyone have any experience of it?

I am getting my files reviewed only once a week now and it is taking up to six days from the time I submit the files. I was guessing that maybe because of the summer time they had less reviewers available to them because of holidays!

This is fine and quite common. Some of the sites dont ask for the id at the start but do ask for it before you can get a payment.

I have uploaded some test images too....mainly because it is such a big company. It is obviously work in progress. The site has a bit of a cheap feel about it and I am not sure what market they are aiming at. ftp isnt working yet and you can only upload 5 images at at time (and it dosent pick up any IPTC data)
I guess they will pull their finger out and sort out the issues. I am surprised they have release the site (even in beta form) so early in it development to the public. Will it challenge SS and IS...? I guess we sit back and watch them fight it out. The more competition that is out there surely the better it is for photographers/artist because there will be a point when the market will be saturated and they will have to add features to attract artist (pay for each photo you upload, offer higher commisions ....free cuddle for everyone)

I gave uploading to this site a while ago mainly because they didn't have any ftp....I guess nothing has changed.

Is it just me or have the sales really taken off since V2? maybe the change in the search criteria has meant the cream of the crop has risen to the top....at last I knew my day would come! LOL or maybe not!

I have just had a look on their site and as far as I can tell they have no ftp which is a non starter for me.

My sales have been climbing quite nicely in Shutterstock (the more I upload) but over the last week for some reason they have just dropped by about a quarter. The only reason I can see for this is that the reviews have been pretty rapid recently (about 24hrs) over the last week I haven't had any of my images reviewed at all.
