I dropped DT becase it's insane that they have such an old way to submit. There is no batch edit, and you have to select those categories, different titles/descriptions, and so on.

Image description is fairly important if you want your images to be found in a web search, not so much if you don't care about appearing in searches.
That doesn't apply to Adobe Stock. They only use keywords.

Interesting. I normally use 12mpx but I guess more than 24mpx is just exaggeration.
About this, I have had some rejected photos (specially in Adobe) and you are saying it would be a good idea to reduce the megapixels in order to reduce imperfections and avoid technical difficulties. How do you that in Lightroom? I would like to give it a try. For example reducing from 12 to 8 mpx in order to enhance quality.
Thank you.

copy space, no people
And maybe No One?
copy space
Great - glad I asked - copy space makes a lot of sense . No One and no people I knew are used as well as nobody. Seems depending on the country different ones are used and I want to cover all. Any further suggestions welcomed.
I guess you can use those but were discussing about those keywords in other thread called "copy space"... Whether if they are useful or not Enviado desde mi ALP-L29 mediante Tapatalk

I'd like to share my experience with Colourbox. I uploaded and keyworded 25 images. I made a sale worth 20 cents, so quite small, but of course I wasn't expecting much with 25 images.
I have a full-time job unrelated to photography and a family, so I don't always have time to dedicate to micro stock, and colourbox fell off my radar for a while.
After a few months, I went to log in again, and although it allowed me to log in, I was redirected to a simple page that said, Thanks for using Colourbox, your profile is now deactivated, good luck elsewhere. I was shocked. I wasn't informed, there was no email telling me this was happening. And what about my 20 cents? Even worse, what if I made more sales in those few months when I wasn't looking, and now they've scampered off with my money?
Amazingly unprofessional, in my opinion. I contacted them about this, asking what had happened. The response I got was, paraphrasing, Yes, I can see that you had 25 images, we have deleted them from our database, your images were not in demand, you would have been disappointed with the sales, anyway, etc. An actual paragraph:
"I am concerned that a relatively small amount of images will be difficult to find for any customer out of +20 mio images. Especially in the areas that are not unique (Buddhas, sunsets etc.). Furthermore, many of the motifs (despite good photo quality) are not so demanded by our customers, and together with the fact that we already have many suppliers of monkeys, sunsets, bridges etc. I am afraid that you may be disappointed with a cooperation. I can un-delete your material if you are interested but I am not convinced if you will be satisfied with the sale?"
I responded that I was unhappy with how they handled my case, and that I either wished for my account and my images to be reinstated, or to receive my 20 cents. I have never heard from them again, despite contacting their customer services team many times. When I log in, I get the same bland "thanks but no thanks" page.
I have given up now because it's 20 cents, and also because yes, I can see that they have many many images of Buddhas and that the majority of them are terrible. So why they chose to delete mine will have to remain a mystery.
Contribute to them with fair warning - they might run off with your earnings!
what? hahaha terrible

Somehow I don't get my updates until several DAYS after you all do. As of right now (the 22nd) I still don't have my January sales info.
Grrrrrrr.
Write them, that is weird

Looking at my remittance email I just got, I noticed some data on the bottom. At first, I assumed it was related to my overall payments from iStock over the years. But when I looked closer, I noticed the total was over 5.6 million (I assume dollars) -- and that's not all mine.
Do you think that's how much money they're paying everyone this pay period? Was this information on previous payment emails and I just never noticed it?
And they are keeping 70-85% of that, wow
If that's total monthly revenue then they're doing $60M a year in sales. If that's the 15%-ish royalty cut then they're doing over $400M a year in sales (?)
It's a lot of money and still hurting their contributors Enviado desde mi ALP-L29 mediante Tapatalk

It would be cool/funny to see what is your ugliest picture that sells a lot.
This is mine:
I hate it. It's terrible in any sense and idek why it sells
Have you done web reverse-image searches (IMO these are not as good at throwing up in-uses as they used to be, however) to see how they're being used? Illustrating train travel, public transport. It's not always the prettiest photo that's the most useful.
I have done it with all my sells. I have found a lot of them to be honest and it's pretty cool to know how they use them. Regarding this picture I haven't found anything Enviado desde mi ALP-L29 mediante Tapatalk

you are from colombia medellin? I'm planning to come next month..can you tell me the situation of security for photographer?
I'm from Cali but I live in Medellin. Medellin is a very unequal city. Colombia is a VERY unequal country so you can expect to see very poor neighbourhoods with zero security or luxury neighbourhoods with amazing restaurants/lifestyle with Europe-Japan-like security. Security in El Poblado, Envigado, Laureles, inside metro, malls, universities is very good, so you can take your camera out in those places/areas. But don't take your camera out if you are in the downtown (El Centro) because it's overcrowded and even if you see police or something it's not that safe (I wouldn't do it unless you see a policeman very close) - or you can talk to him and ask him to watch while you take photos. If you are going with a group of people, it's better than alone. I have a high-end cell phone that I never show up in "public" spaces... I actually have my backup which is a cheap phone that I can take out. I don't want you to get paranoid but the safety norms are like in every other big city, don't go alone at night, don't receive weird stuff from people you just know, identify authorities, learn some Spanish before (not everyone here is fluent in English). El Poblado is a very foreigner-friend neighborhood so you are going to find lots of hotels/hostels with English speakers people. Medellin is a beautiful city (not like Bogota) and Antioquia (the "state") too, but be safe when travelling to small towns (for example Ituango has now security problems). Anyway, lots of foreigners tend to say that we are overly paranoid but maybe it's because of the 50 year-old war that is kinda ongoing. Nowadays less intense, but still there are some places where you can't go so easily. Overall Medellin is pretty safe, but read about the don't go places, and the must go places before. I recommend you Guatape, Jardin, Santafe de Antioquia, and some places inside Medellin such as Explora Park, Arvi Park, Metro/Metrocable, Botanical Garden. About food, taste "bandeja paisa", arepas and candies. People is VERY friendly with foreigners so don't be afraid to ask for directions, places, food options, or to see if some "area" is safe for you as a foreigner. Have a nice trip! I would love to see your photos from the travel

Hello to all, What is your acceptance % on DT?
I have 41.1%. Ridiculous... But with SS 95%, Alamy 100%, Adobe Stock 95 %
I am confused
What? Mine is super high DT. Lowest in AS, Canva... Why is yours so low in DT? They almost accept everything. What are the rejection factors? Enviado desde mi ALP-L29 mediante Tapatalk

I haven't ever seen the royalties from those sales. The pirate accounts are closed but it appears that the royalties are simply 'absorbed' into the agency (not only Adobe stock.. all sites seem to do it this way). Shouldn't those earnings be passed onto the photographers account?
I couldn't agree more. This has happened to me too and I SHOULD be owed several hundred dollars (that I know of).
The thief didn't get the payout, the customer didn't get the money back, and I didn't get it. So... Basically the agency stole it. Quite low.
I was thinking the same...

BME. In items, and total sales. RPD is still kind of low 0.5 but better than nov and dec... It was ok, lots of photos for 0.03 and others for 1+. Nothing really big. February seems a little bit worse, hope this week gets better.

Mat please pay attention to the comments in this thread.
Also, it's a pain in the ass that you need to scroll down (for example until the keywords in the position 30+) to "up" some "relevant" keywords and it makes you go all the way up!!! and you have to scroll down again to "up" another keyword, and so on. I don't know if you understand what I said, but the pain is real
+1, we don't need a pop-up box that comes up when we click on edit keywords, a simple text box (like the one for title) is enough.
This exists. Click the "paste keywords" link and you will be able to add keywords in one large box.
-Mat
I like the way that I can up and down the keywords in the "extended" list but the problem is that if I "up" a keyword at the bottom the interface makes you go all the way up and you have to scroll down again to up another keyword.
I usually paste my keywords and then "up" the relevants but this problem happens... I don't know if you understand me
No you don't, I don't Firefox stays on last word and box for new word. Why do you have to go all the way up they are on top.
I've been using Chrome but you might be right. Gonna try Firefox to see if it's something related to the browser. Enviado desde mi ALP-L29 mediante Tapatalk
