I want to delete my images (almost 1500) from Fotolia and Dreamstime. I have red, long time ago, that there were scripts for doing this. Anyone has an idea where I can find them? Thanks for your help.
Well, have a fun, I spent more than a couple hours deleting my portfolio (4000+ images) from Stockexpert. Kone

Guess I missed that one, Donna.... I'm quite happy here. Occassionally someone will come on and flame someone or everyone... but those people dont tend to stick around... All in all, I think the vast majority of the folks here are civil, friendly, helpful and supportive of each other. This is THE ONLY forum I belong to and for just this reason... nice people here. =tom
Maybe in a couple of years Donna will feel same. Occassionally I visit other forums but this one is like home. Well done Leaf, great forum. Kone

Is there any way to use IE to FTP files to Custcaster or I must use Fillezilla or a similar software? /quote]
I don't know the details of this problem but I do know that IE isn't as flexible as a standolone FTP client. Did John explain why IE wouldn't work?
No, But even the Cutcaster's "upload media files" doesn't work for me. Files end up in the "rejected bin". I think they have a serious problem there.

Hi all, Last few days I am trying to upload files to Cutcaster using Internet Explorer, but John said that I have to use FTP Software to upload files. Software like Fillezilla. John even sent me a tutorial on how to use all of these softwares, but I want to use the IE instead. I have been doing this for years and for many agencies and I only use IE. Why is Cutcaster different? Is there any way to use IE to FTP files to Custcaster or I must use Fillezilla or a similar software?

This is perfect news for me. I can't get my arms down. I was sooo close to making it to the next level (a difference of less than 3 weeks of sales), and I guess there must be hundreds of artists on iStock that are really close to the next level, and who would have just not made it by only a few downloads.
Those pulling their art from other sites are still in a good position: they are closer to exclusivity, which I think is a very wise decision.
Yours sincerely, Daniel

My conclusion is:
-will stay same number of buyers, with or without some of sites, they migrate to another sites... - cca 600$ of my money is still on many different accounts, because of payout limits, with less sites we will have our money in our pocket sooner... -struggle for market forced me to upload on many agencies, that mean much more effort for same money, also sometimes it is "Sizif's job" (Zymm,StockXpert,LO etc.) -also many agencies mean more documents, more W-8EN, sometimes more fees because of different types of payments... -more upload, bigger Internet traffic, with flat rate also mean more steering in monitor, lees shooting... -different prices level and new sites for searching cheaper versions also can harm my earnings... -some part of my money probably will never come on my bank account, Cres, etc. -"Don't put all eggs in the same basket" doesn't bring me any big benefit, only losses of some money and time...
Probably I never go on Exclusive, I like different types of market, but less agencies is better...
Can't say never but not for now Kone

As laudable as your efforts are they are a mere drop in the ocean compared to images available the file sharing sites, which have been going since the 90s one way or another.
I'm sure most folks here will have their work freely distributed on them, I know I have, for example there are 5619 pages and counting on just one site, heroturko.org , and nothing seems to have been able to be done about them. Have you found a best-selling image of yours on one of these sites? Maybe that's the difference. Once it happens to you, the threads that show on the board have a little more interest.
It's not that I never cared before...with having to work a full-time job to pay a mortgage, I don't usually have all day to sit and cruise the boards and play detective, even for my own work. Sometimes the threads float to the bottom before I even have a chance to see them. You can believe the Image Sleuth section is going to be noticed by me a little more now.
In the past couple of days I have spent hours on this, hours that could have been used to make real money. But this is costing all of us money, too. If someone needs help, you can be sure I will do my best to help and I would hope others would help me, as they have just done.
Maybe it just takes everyone looking out and helping everyone else on this matter.
OK off my high horse now.
Hi cclapper, That is the way we should all do, this is where this forum is really helpful, as team we are more powerful. Kone

Ok Kone, I've noticed that the other guy with your photo is still active so I reported the CR infringement to Yahoo as well... we should see the same results for that as well in short time.
Hi, What is wrong with all of those people?!? Thanks again Kone

Not sure where you are from Kone but you should also look into the legal side of things. Photographing children can be a sensitive subject.
Hi Runamock, Yea I know, dont wary about that, parents and school director are asking me to do the job. Thank you Kone

Just check out an events photography company near you and see what they charge, and then decide if you can match their price and whether it's financially viable for you.
Event photography companies nearly always attend my son's rugby tournaments, the photos are normally crap and they charge about 10 for 8x10 photo which is printed on the spot. I've never bought one because I take my own but I often see a few parents willing to pay that much for a mediocre shot of their child in action.
Take shots that most parents can't do with their entry level dslr and you could be onto a winner.
Thanks RT, I will check local event photographers and I am not even thinking of printing on the spot. Studio lights will be used for this photo shoot. Kone

You can either price it acccording to what you think 'the market', presumably the kids' parents, will be happy to pay for their photos (are they to be in presentation wallets, etc?).
Alternatively work out how long you expect the entire job to take, determine an hourly rate that you would be satisfied with, then add on the cost of materials plus an allowance for the overhead of your equipment.
How much you want to do the job and whether there might be further opportunities for similar work will also help you come to a figure. You may well find that this sort of work is much more hassle, takes far longer and is less enjoyable than you anticipate __ but then again you might be a natural and really enjoy it.
Thanks Gostwyck, I am thinking that way but bit scared to overprice, I do like to take the job because of further opportunities. Kone

Hi everyone,
I mainly do stock photography and some small events. I want to make an offer to do swimming school photographs of all the kids and groups. My only problem is that I don't know how to price it. It's a small school of only 160 kids. Each student only needs one group photo that is 5x7 and one portrait photo 5x7. Does anyone know how to price this, or anyone done something similar before? I need to make them an offer within the end of this week.
Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi Kone! hmmm sorry to hear that... sounds very strange.
Could you please give me the link of your original images and then the link of the same in the thief's flickr account? I want to write a report to the yahoo copyright police as well, just to lend a hand.
Maybe it's just a matter of time but they will get back to you, I'm pretty sure.
Hi cclaper Hi Giuseppe I am sorry for late response Link for my original image is http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-3879071-beer.phpAnd link for stolen image is http://www.flickr.com/photos/cafecathi/3839201933#Thanks for your help

I know Flickr very well, been registered with them since 4 years, and I can testify that they really do not check what people upload because the community is too huge to execute a quality or copyright control on every member... as deviantart or other photosharing network, included stock agencies I'd say.
Anyway I dealt with them regarding some copyright (CR) infringement and I have to say that they are very open and understanding in blocking people and closing accounts of those who are committing a CR crime.
At the bottom of the Flickr site, in every page, you can find a link "Copyright/IP Policy" where you can report your problem. Be sure they will act the soonest they can, since they're very sensitive in that field.
Ok, the guy can start another account and do it all over again but if his/her IP is blacklisted he won't be able to do that again on Flickr at least.
Hi Giuseppe, My experience is opposite, I filed out "Copyright/IP Policy", I sent them email, I sent them letter but they never respond. Guy who is displaying my image under his name doesn't answer either. Kone

However, IMO it's the combo of camera/lens/photographer/model/composition that gives the end result. Patrick H.
I would add an editing software to the end. I think the order of importance would be; photographer, composition, model, lens, camera, editing software. Kone

thanx, kone. it's actually being shipped to me as we speak. thrilled won't have to lug around a tripod or flash anymore. will be bringing this to either the sundance or santa barbara film fest to test it out...which lenses are you using? am thinking 70-200mm and 14-24mm.
I carry 17-35 2.8 and 80-200 2.8 and SB800 So you should be OK with a 70-200mm and 14-24mm (if they are 2.8, fast glass only), bring flash as well

+1 i should be getting it in a few days...what is your experience so far?
Hi ap
It is very good low light camera, no problems going ISO 800 or higher for events or weddings. My flash bateries can now last for the whole night. It is smaller than a D3, so it's easier to cary around (but same quality as a D3), so far I am very happy and I finaly retired my D200. Go for it if you are in wedding or any sort of event photography, it is good even for stock. Portraits are much better coming out straight from camera (than D200).

Not a member. Just doing a free trial to evaluate it.
I'm guessing you're asking about selling anything there because you think it's a stock agency. It used to be. Now it's just a backend system to enable photographers to sell their own stock. You need to do the marketing because Photoshelter doesn't market to buyers. The PS Virtual Agency allows multiple photographers to create their own agency which is what I think the OP is suggesting.
Thanks for clearing that up for me Kone

Instead of creating a site, why not just do a Photoshelter Virutal Agency?
They have a full-blown RM/RF/Print stock system already in place.
Hi PaulieWalnuts, I know that this isnt quite the place for this, but are you a member of Photoshelter? If so, are you selling anything there? You dont have to answer here, you could p.m. me. If there is already a thread about this that you know of, could you please show me? Thanks a lot, Kone
