Communist Chinese Virus

seriously?

Idiot.  This is the kind of crap I see in my in-laws right wing cage liner "newspaper".

Post a full size image if youre going to rant about focus so we can see.

Pond5 / Missing money in PayPal from Pond5
« on: May 15, 2020, 16:14 »
Just checking to see if anyone else had this happen.  I had a payment from Pond5 today.  However the amount I can withdraw is exactly $45 less than the amount sent.

Newbie Discussion / Re: New to stock, made my first sale
« on: May 12, 2020, 15:28 »
If you start today in Microstock and you wanna make 500,- a month I don't think it is possible with a few hundred images you need to be in the thousands. It's not all about sale-ability it's also about search rank in the agencies and with 300 million images at Shutterstock it's very hard to get a good search rank even with very good pictures.

I've been adding new content already. Shot a coronavirus curbside testing station the other day. A family in their yard and putting on masks. A family managing their chicken coup. Industrial shapes repeating. Also shooting stuff from briefs.

A little disappointing that I have around $10 in sales so far but I don't have much else going on right now. Occasionally I'm getting images that could work for my advertising portfolio. Like the husband and wife I shot in front of their home wearing designer face masks while he held a pitchfork, a play on the classic "American Gothic". May be too conceptual for stock but I think some of my advertising clients will get a kick out of it.

Thank you everyone for the helpful advice!

Are these all released?  If not, they sound a little invasive.  Plus a "designer mask" would need a release.

Or for free by using google, lol.

As long as the right volumes are pushed to agencies, we are good. Nothing to worry about. Money will also follow soon.

How inspiring.

Top contributors have nearly 1 million files for each portfolio. It is not one two or three, there are many such ports on SS. Such numbers are not possible in one life-time without team. This is the market of volume.

That's nothing to be proud of.

Theres the problem.  A: theres no way anyone can make 300 -good- and -useful- videos a day.  Its just spamming the system.  To the detriment of all.

What is the best way to scrape my own keywords off of iStock? Preferably non qdisambiguated ones if possible? That would save me a ton of time as I put a lot of thought and research into metadata...

Never EVER do your meta on any site.  Always on Bridge or PS or however you like.

Absolutely, contact IS - they can see who downloaded them and investigate.

I love how opting out equals closing your account.

I pay unemployment, as I'm an LLC and have payroll.  However, whiles sales are down, I'm still "employed".  I'm not sure how to approach this.

The title of this thread makes me laugh every time I see it.  Thanks for that.

This is a terrible idea, for reasons mentioned.  One day, you will not want to partner with this person, and then what?

So, whats the process for opting out?

I got some nonsense rejection about my motion graphics clips being "pillarboxed", whatever that is.  Well, let's try again....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pillarbox

I figured that's what it meant, but anyone with eyeballs can see that's not the case.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Checking in - Adobe Stock Video

Issues? Opportunities?
Reading embedded metadata directly from video files, like Pond5 does, will be great.

They do.  Mine comes through fine.

1 - Wholly disagree!  Our templates look awesome and honestly if I didn't believe that, I'd cop to it.  Mogrts as a whole are doing awesome and answer a distinct need in the market.  That said, we do need one key feature and I've pushed for it and hope we get it this year.  We'll see.

I've tried to argue that forcing "responsive time" on each and every template is the wrong thing to do, as I try to provide the ability to adjust various timing elements in my templates, but I keep getting shut down.  I'd like responsive time to be used where it's appropriate and attributes to adjust timing where it makes it a more flexible template.

For example... If I have some live action video as an element, and a title that appears over it, I'd like to provide an attribute to say what frame the title appears, or how long it takes to appear.  Using responsive time, scaling the .mogrt down in Premiere, would make the live video run faster, which isn't the desired effect.  That's sort of a generic example.

Any word on this?  It's been awhile.

Got the no thanks a few weeks back.
