Yeah I know, it's just the spy stuff that got me sidetracked.
Since I'm not on FB and I don't read all the tweets and I didn't join the group, just because I don't follow FB, nothing else. What was the name and why was it blanked out? Public service, public posts, I'd see nothing wrong with including their name. I only gathered it was a she from one of your posts? Makes me wonder who that was.
Not sure why he blacked out the name. Her first name was Svetlana, dont remember the last. She claimed to work for FB, but then her arguments were strange. Anyway, what she was saying made it seem like she was pro-SS/FB, hence the spy speculation. You had to be there. 😀 Thats disappointing about africastudio. In the end, everybody can be bought for a price. Im sure it was all negotiating tactics between them and SS. Oringer has lots of toys to pay for.

I had the same issues with the symbiostock site breaking. I had to build it, then it broke, and I had to rebuild it. The next time it broke, I just gave up. Self-hosting isnt as easy as some people say it is. I did try another software, and Photostore sounds familiar. But its the same problem as all of them: building is one thing, getting customers to make it pay for itself is quite another. Photographers want to shoot photos. And self-hosting is like working three jobs.

I have a lot of restepect for Africa studio for disabling their port. They are big enough that even with the now much lower payment from SS, it still means they are missing out on thousands of $ each month by pulling their port. I am also glad for them, because that must also mean that they are making enough profit on other agencies to still keep their company sustainable even with the loss. I hope the loss of such a huge contributor will help stir customers to other agencies.
I think they are back up under a different name. I hope I'm wrong.
Yes https://www.shutterstock.com/g/newafrica Also from Ukraine And the style of images is very similar to the "old" Africa studio
Thats disappointing. Renegotiation?

If you believe in conspiracy theories - take a look at this thread. Somehow I missed the response between the two last posts when I was screen grabbing.
Then "poof" the whole thread went missing. Gone from the group FB page. Apparently, if you are the thread creator on FB, if you delete it all disappears. Our "Facebook employee" took their own thread down when I called them out.
What do you guys make of this?
I saw some of her posts. Im pretty sure she was a FB/SS spy. But posts are getting flagged in a lot of FB groups (not just related to microstock) as being spam or goes against community standards, when they are not. I personally think it has to do with who FB does business with. I think they are monitoring groups closely that revolve around their ties to that industry. FB is aligned with SS, FB aligned themselves with pHARMa, like that.
I hope quoting this makes it stay, in case people change what they wrote. FB/SS spies? And trying to infiltrate the group? Really, like someone is so stupid that they couldn't just create a quiet account to watch. Let me help, a spy likes to work in secret not in your face and arguing, attracting attention to their devious plans and plots.
Yes, You can remove posts and comments that you have made on Facebook. You can remove comments others have made on something you've posted, but you cannot delete comments they've left on posts you didn't create. This is also quite ordinary and doesn't need any special access or authority.
NewAfrica different logo maybe trying to imitate and get business? Are the images the same or some other company?
Read Alistair Cottons post. I was agreeing with him. Keep up with the program, Uncle Pete. 🙄

I like the speculation that FB might be negotiating to buy SS. FB will do absolutely anything to boost ad revenue, it's basically all they care about. A huge library of dirt cheap stock imagery, integrated with their post editor, would be a natural. The fact that it's 80% cr@p is lost on someone like Zuckerberg, who has a closet full of gray t-shirts.
Yep, I agree.

We always complain about massive portfolios, but for this kind of actions they are so important. By deactivating some of them SS could see million a million image loss in short period of time.
We complain about massive portfolios filled with garbage, and there are plenty of those on SS. From what I understand, africastudio had some great images. Yes, lets hope other big studios follow suit. I read that the Russian forum was talking about deactivating theirs. We are having an impact! #boycottShutterstock

That is HUGE!
These big guys deserve props for taking decisive action - it would be so much easier for them to leave their ports on and just stop submitting, and try to wring whatevers left!
Makes me wonder if SS DIDNT make any special deals with ANYONE. They really are taking a TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT stance.
It is not how big productions work. They can't stop working just like that. They have a lot of expenses, employees, models, photographers, contracts, offices, debts for equipment, props, vehicles etc. They are better finding another agency, My guess they will go Getty exclusive now.
Oh, Im sure they didnt just stop working. Im sure they will be flooding the other agencies now. And making more than $.10 an image.
Yes, they will. I don't see a problem with that. If they are capable to produce enormous amounts of pictures, congratulations to them. It looks like everything and everyone is going on your nerves. And congratulations to them for making such a brave move!
Everyone is going on my nerves? LOL Because you arent a native English speaker, somewhere along the line you have interpreted my comment as some kind of slam. Its not. Stop reading into stuff when its not there.

I'm sure SS will claim they have to right to that domain name based on the google search results
Thanks for the insight, seems that any word that anyone searches for, and includes photo, will lead to Shutterstock. They must be paying millions for the sponsored links and placement. Oh wait, we're paying for that, right?
Yep. Weve financed more than a few millionaires, a new AI company for Jon, and throw in some yachts, Italian villas, and five-star European vacations, too.

Someone at Stock Submitter Coalition captured the tweet below before it was deleted. It's a chilling reminder of what we are. We are the slaves, and we should keep working no matter what the pay is. I'm no Communist, but this is the very reason why Karl Marx published Das Kapital back in 1867. We are back in the same situation as industrial workers of the 19th Century together with Uber drivers and other participants of the growing gig economy. Please stop comparing contributors to slaves. We are free, slaves are not. And they do not get any pay at all.
Slaves are given food and place to sleep, so they are paid. Slaves can go from point a (place to sleep) to point b (place to work), so they are free. We just have an illusion of freedom.
Stop already with the slave nonsense.

I think this is funny. I wanted to know about Vitrina.
Vitrina Vitrina is genus of small air-breathing land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the family Vitrinidae, the glass snails.Wikipedia

Update
June 18- 318.961.660 images, 903.429 new images per week June 23 - 320.955.776 images, 921.692 new images per week (updated)
I think things are just coming back to normal, people is just uploading again and accepting the 10 cents deal...
So sad...
Maybe the real desertion of people will be january 1 when people will just get an immovable 0.10 cents per sale and no 0.10-0.35-025-0.11-0.22 ... etc as they are reporting now...
Or...the numbers are being manipulated. I dont trust them, do you? There are shareholders to answer to, millionaires that need to feed their habits. They cant afford to lose buyers.

What kind of paranoid lunatic buys that domain thinking the world is out to get them?
The kind of lunatics who fully intend to screw their contributors sometime in the next few years.
Yes, sure seems like they had it all planned out.

I just got an email from a designer who had used a watermarked image of mine in a mockup for a client and when they went to purchase it today it wasn't available. They wanted to know where they could get it. I explained the situation and they will be purchasing it from Adobe.
Their reply to me: "Wow I don't blame you, that's awful. I was not aware of that, I will definitely not be purchasing from them in the future. I will purchase the image through Adobe, thank you so much for your quick response!"
yes you can.
Can I use this in a tweet? I dont have to use your name.
Thanks! Too long to Tweet, but I posted it on the Coalition fb page.

I noticed that while we are protesting against injustice on the part of Shutterstock, there are people who continue to upload their images to Shutterstock. They couldn't even wait a month? Are they really nuts? And if the Second World War were going on, whose side would they be on?..
a new low!!! (w many pluses? ) so now if you don't support the boycott you're a nazi? shame!!!
Almost as bad as if you upload to SS you are a slave. 🙄

My new strategy is not to upload top and new images to iStock, since the income goes down. Does anyone else doing the same?
Thanks for nothing. For years I read people complaining for istock. And i never submitted as a matter of principle not to support the greedy low payers. All those years of my lost sales while people undermined the market and me silently to their profit and only appear here to cry or give advice when they lose money.
Yep. Everybody shouts power to the people! and waves their fists in the air, until it actually means sacrificing and losing their own money. Then its well Ill show them. I wont upload anything new for a week. LOL

Dont waste your time or money. Remove your portfolio and do business with companies that you think treat you fairly. Hate your employer? Quit and get a better job. Same principle. These big companies employ well-paid attorneys and accountants to hide money.
