So no worth to join them? Never heard this place before.
For me to be honest no. I think its one of those sites that works well for those with the right content. The Upload/Tagging process is horrible and time consuming. But try it out its the only way to know if it works for you.
Upload only the ones you think might be accepted based on their style. Keywording is not as bad since Getty actually destroys it after selection lol. It is also useful to follow ideas and inspiration. I like their app, it's the only one good looking. I prefer EyeEm over 500px to access to Getty.
Every other site I can upload the metadata from the JPG for Eyeem I have to enter each word individually. I can't even copy and paste a block of text. Or have I missed something?
You are right. I normally use the suggested and add some manually but really it doesn't matter since Getty mess that up

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. Same thoughts here. And I might have to drop 123RF as well. No sales for three months.
That one is falling horribly. Sad.

I think it's worth it if you have pictures that are more artsy and not so stocky. It's a little bit social which I don't mind neither.

Just for curious what's your fastest reviewing agency? Top Tier are my fastest (SS especially) and the slowest ones are Alamy and 123RF. In fact SS has always reviewed all my content within 12 hours. Ok, there are a few exceptions, but still. Keen to know your experiences in reviewing times?
Dreamstime is VERY fast. I think they actually employ just machines lol. BS is super fast too (same day). Then SS and P5 (one day or two). AS, iS and DP take maybe 3 days? 123RF just stopped and you have to email them to review so I dropped that agency.

I have images on EyeEm. About half of my images are on EyeEm and the other half are on the EyeEm partners. It seems for me the only sales I get are from the partners. I have never had any sales on the EyeEm only. The sales are fairly good on the partner sites.
Ok - but I am at Alamy and Adobe. Wonder how you get at EyeEm ... lets see what happens ...
As far as I know, they only use Getty even if they say those partners. Anyone actually know if they have EyeEm pictures in alamy or AS?
I don't have much there but the only partner I've ever been notified I have an image on is Getty
Maybe they notify ONLY Getty but actually have them on Alamy or AS? I doubt it. The whole process of tagging is very getty-related (their own keywords).

For the 1st time on this site I see that my earnings declined - they are gradually going down during the last few months. And January doesn't looking great so far either. Hopefully it's just temporary.
Bad. Reviewing very very slow.
I don't mind slow reviewing as long as the earnings are steadily stagnating or going up. This is currently not the case with me - despite the fact that I got new approved files in the past few months, earnings are going down. That's not good.
Same here. And yes the actually sent an email saying that they are reforming reviewing method. I don't know if that also include some change in the site that is also hurting sales.

I would like to see them put some marketing into selling stills.
I would also but I've given up. Reviews took ages, and nothing happened, I think I removed everything and just gave up.
Same port of SS in P5 with zero sales of stills. They are just promoting video...
Thanks and yes I looked, I have no photos, just video. Fine with me, I'm happy with the places I work with. I don't need to do more work for no return, or low returns.
Imagine this... you own a site, you sell video and make most of your money from selling video, "Over 1,000,000 clips in 4K". Maybe the largest small agency stock video collection, in the world. Would you care much about photos, vectors, sound or anything else?
Brings up another question, has anyone here ever sold a sound effect or music file on Pond5?
That's interesting. I only upload stills to pond5 because I like how I can manage some data from it but I'm not expecting photo sales. Also, we could think that DP or DT are not good to sell video so why bother with those.

I can't understand the system at EyeEm. My images are released for sale - but not at EyeEm ..? Maybe at EyeEm 'partners' ... What's going on? I have tried to communicate with EyeEm but I don't understand their answers. Can somebody enlighten me?
EyeEm has a market and partners (Getty). Your pictures can be sold on both or just their market. Each picture you select to be on market will be subjected to be selected to partner.

...I have now my first photo live on Getty and as you said they totally ruined metadata. They put traditional roof clay girls as stacked wood trunks ( ?). Can I change that? ...
You could ask, but I very much doubt you'd get a change.
Most of the problem is Getty's Controlled Vocabulary. Terms - particularly places, but other specialized terms - aren't in the CV. While I was active with the old iStock we would go round and round over this and attempts to expand the CV. When it was expanded (not often) it was a desperately slow process.
There are two schools of thought about having a controlled vocabulary. One is that it is the company's crown jewels and the other is that it's a dinosaur supplanted by sophisticated search engines like Google's. If Getty could at least try to make it more dynamic and keep it up to date, it might help, but as they've been so burdened by debt over the last several years they've been more running in place than innovating.
I'm gonna ask to see what happens and I will share the experience. Yes I have never tried to expand their vocabulary but I'm sure they know clay, tale, roof, etc. (I just saw I said girls but it was autocorrection. I meant to say "clay tiles for roof construction" that you can see in traditional roofs in Latin America. Yes, indeed, they should accept easily new words. I agree with that.

While keywords are automatically translated in search, this does not apply to the titles. Has anyone done tests of using the same word but in different languages in the title to cover larger markets? Actually, this is not a title spam because the system does not index it as a same word and does not affect the results by damaging the other contributors.
For example: "Love , Liebe , Amore , Любить , 爱 " .
Has anyone done tests with this for better visibility and the results are positive or negative?
I have done that with editorial pictures from my country which is Spanish speaker. I put titles in English with some Spanish words... But like you said I'm not sure. Some agencies actually translate titles too.
As far as I saw most sites show different results according to the search language. Some, like Fotolia, because of their regional target, have many files with titles in another language ( in Fotolia most are in German ). Maybe if two or three words are translated into the headline in multiple languages, this will have an impact when someone searching in this languages.
But if you put love in three different languages when you actually search in a specific language (for example Spanish) you will find "Amor amor amor" (amor=love) like three times isn't it? I am. Not sure it that's a good idea

Getty works like a garden slug. It takes forever for them to ruin all the metadata you so carefully put into the title, description and keywords It takes months (although it is variable). My last uploads were in September and they made it to Getty mid-December.
You will get email from EyeEm when it's live: "Your Photo Is Live on Getty Images. We're happy to let you know that your photo is officially live on Getty Images, significantly increasing your chances of selling it. Congratulations!"
You'll see the Selected for Partner change to "Partner Collection" on EyeEm. Selected for just means that EyeEm thinks it should go to Getty.
Hello Jo. I have now my first photo live on Getty and as you said they totally ruined metadata. They put traditional roof clay girls as stacked wood trunks ( ?). Can I change that? Is it a waste of time to request a change in Getty metadata through EyeEm? I mean that photo sells in other agencies but because I carefully explained what it is... It is not wood lol

The economy is driven as much, if not more, by small business as it is the stock market. If there is a downturn it's more likely that businesses will advertise more rather than less. They will try to get as much from their advertising dollar as they can though so they'll look to get low cost source material for ads.
Where could buyers go for inexpensive imagery for advertising? Hmmmm.
This is a good point. I think more people could start to use microstock if they cannot afford a private photographer or expensive ad campaigns.

So far I just uploaded no more than 10 clips that required model release... the irony is that i used the SS release por all the agencies, and it was accepted by all (P5, VB, AS, DT) except SS... apparently the signature of the witness os spilling a bit over the name of the witness and that bothered SS reviewers... but for the moment i'm using the SS model...
Yes. I use is template for others too but it requests so many info, ugh.

Before uploading your material to every agent under the sun - read their contract!
It's very easy to upload to one agent who then uploads it to another sub-agent who then does the same again. You'll see your footage popping up on sites you didn't even know existed. Apart from diluting your % earnings big time (and possibly never having the money filter through the various companies back to you) you can end up with one of your agents competing with your own pictures in another agent at a much reduced %. In other words, it's possible to lose control of your work - and just as important, control of your income stream. It's not happening much so far with the footage agents but it will..... when things get tighter; just as it did with the stills market. I could write a book on that.
I've seen it (and unfortunately experienced it) all before - I've been full-time non-exclusive, multi-agent for over 30 years. So my advice is - stick to the big four and read their contract. So no surprises in the future - well at least you'll cut down on the surprises Oh and that suggestion of exclusivity - there is not an agent right now that can justify image exclusivity never mind photographer exclusivity, but it is a great way to put all your eggs in one little precarious basket and cross your fingers.
Thanks Pablito, i hadn't considered what you said... terrible, as a matter of principle one would think that uploading to 20 agencies would have more potencial than 4 or 5... you give a different insight... by big for, you mean (i suppose), SS, P5, AS, IS?
Yes, those 4 I think are the most important. And for stills too, maybe changing P5 for some other 2 or 3 like BS, DT or 123RF.

I think 123 is on life support. Something happened there where my income went from almost $200 a month to now I can't make a monthly payout. I have given up providing them content. I have to email them just about every time I upload something. Just not worth the time.
Pretty sad. They are dying, for some reason.

by the way how is youjanuary....?
last year was my best month an so far i had more than 350 download in ss and near 120 in istock....we are at 120 in ss and 21 in stock.....everything is falling down seems. i thought holiday were still on till last weekend but today is still pretty slow, practically only best seller with good position sells. don't know what to thug but i had other hopes for this 2019
and in that 350 there were two 79 dollar a bunch of 44....now the max is a bunch of 2,85 the rest subs.... for me those unsplash and pixel free are simply killing this business.
BTW why those websites exist? Like who pay for those to exist?
My January is going okay.
Well Unsplash is apparently making money from investors, 'building a new economy around photography in blockchain', probably raising more money for themselves and not caring about their community or photography.
https://medium.com/unsplash/we-just-raised-7-25-million-for-unsplash-to-build-a-new-economy-around-photography-cedc8a999239
The other ones with ads on their site I guess.
Maybe if we start uploading millions of similar background images with irrelevant keywords on these free websites, people won't be able to find anything and will stop using them. Just an idea
Still I don't understand. The ads in the other sites make sense but unsplash is ad free so how exactly...? Anyways good idea

I am wondering why you ask here, instead of asking SS directly??
Nothing you get here is official, and if you act on bad info, you are the only person that will pay the price...
Why not both? Sorry I don't buy pictures. I have heard of other people here selling and also buying photos so maybe they can help you.

I often find the names using reverse image search by Google as well but I have a spider now that I can't find the name and I don't know any spider biologist I took some footage and pictures and I don't want to just say "brown spider...".
Check out facebook groups in that case. Here in Ecuador, we have "plants and animals of Ecuador' group. When I am not able to identify something through Google image search, I post the image there and ask if anyone knows.
I usually have a definitive answer within an hour.
I always go the Google image route first though. I don't want to inundate that FB group so much they stop giving me answers...
