Here is another one:
After the update something happened to my categories.
All the standard categories have been added to the ones that I custom created (I deleted all the standard ones).
However, some of my custom categories now show up with a "-2" at the end like "Architecture-2" and it even says "Architecture-2" on the actual page when I click on that category.
Since I do not have two categories with the same name (architecture was just an example) I'm surprised to see this happening.
I accidentally, deleted all categories (again) and therefore all images were stripped off their custom categories.
Kind of weird. I didn't do any major changes to categories except how they display. If your not too deep into things - delete ALL your categories and reinstall. They will be there fresh, and hopefully should work fine.
Darned, I must have messed something up. Coincidentally I custom created a category called "city" and I believe this lead the database to believe the standard category city (rural or something) is #1 and my custom category would be #2 I could see that - if that's actually the case. But then I created a category that did not remotely exist in the clean install. After the update, seeing all the "old", standard categories I thought, ugh, let me just wipe them out and delete them. I deleted the first bulk -> fine. Then on the second page (few categories left) once I hit the delete button I realized that my custom categories were still there (I think I saw that - not 100% sure). So maybe my custom categories already received a spot in the database but then I deleted them. Setting up thses categories again, must have led to the additional -2 situation - I guess Now, I deleted all categories, deactivated the theme, reactivated the theme, deleted all categories and created my custom ones again. Still, SOME categories have the -2 added No clue what to do now.

Leo, I know you're pretty much off the clock already.
I feel kind of bad posting requests or reminding any developer about features/fixes to be considered but I wanted to throw in that it would be great if vertical images were centered on the product pages.
Would that be just a CSS issue or would you have to "hard code" it into the main thing?

Good thread!
Initially my watermark was a full square, taking advantage of the biggest possible area to cover several parts of the image.
Then I realized the problem with panoramic images since the watermark won't be re-sized (which is ok though) but half of my watermark was cut off.
I therefore settled for a 4x2 aspect ratio watermark including my logo, name and URL - I guess this way I have all bases covered AND it's a pain to remove the watermark.
Advanced Photoshop users can always get rid of watermarks so it's not something that can be prevented 100% anyway unless you use areas with less than 50% transparency because then the retoucher would have to recreate the content again which more of a pain - but often not impossible...

... Perhaps some more clear statement rules, about refund by agencies is appreciated. You are right, but, as an agency, what are you supposed to do? As long as the client signs a form that the downloaded image will never be used that's all they can do. And if they have a long standing customer that needs to return an image, simply say no you can't? Sometimes you have to give them back a little. In cases of credit card fraud for example, I think we the contributors should be paid in full as those images WILL be used and/or end up on file sharing sites anyway - so at least we get some compensation.

I get your point click_click but when I buy somethings I can't ask for a refund after few week. If something went wrong it's not our fail. If I buy a pair of jeans of wrong size and come back the day after they change it. But after a month... Seeing the post, the picture and the license were sold on february 28. Also, with subscription, discount promotion etc, who usually buy a certain amount of pictures may face a loss of fifty dollars. Keep the picture and go ahead.
Alberto, I understand your point very well but listen to this: I'm German and moved to the US 10 years ago. I was surprised to see what can be returned here. Almost every business allows returns here. You want to hear crazy return stories? Here they are. - In her student years my wife worked as customer service employee at a large supermarket dealing amongst other things with... returns. The supermarket's policy was, and check this out, "Make the customer happy" - therefore they allowed returns. For example, customers came after Thanksgiving into the store with a bag of bones (turkey bones) and requested a refund because the turkey was "too dry". They received a refund (bear in mind that a 12+ lb turkey is not very cheap either). So they ate the turkey (all of it) and still received a refund - just so they would return to the store again for more shopping in the future. - A friend of mine went to the pharmacy with a prescription to have their medicine filled (in the US the pills are counted according to your prescription and then refilled into a plastic bottle for you, I didn't know that when I first came to the US...). The (transparent) bottle is then placed into a paper bag (usually) and the prescription is stapled onto the bag, hence you cannot see the bottle. Once at home he realized that these pills were the size of horse pills (well large pills) that he was unable to swallow and returned that back to the pharmacy (which by state law isn't even allowed to accept as a return!!!!). - Macy's, one of the largest retailers in the US accepts returns within 2 years time. You can buy a nice shirt, wear it 3-4 times and return it after a year again for the full purchase price. You can buy a spaghetti pot for cooking - cook with it for 6 months and then return for all your moolah back in your account. Have a small, dirty apartment and no storage space? No problem buy a vacuum cleaner at Macy's, clean your house and take it back to Macy's for your money back. I've seen people return stuff you would lose your mind!!! Especially for me as a European where it's mostly: Once you walk out of the door of the store you're pretty much stuck with what you purchased. Customer Service here in the US has a whole different meaning! Now how these costs for the goods that were returned were handled internally - I do not know. And for sure I hate returned images as much as anyone of us. I'm just trying to shed some light on the return habits of another country to help people understand.

I can only speak from the designer's standpoint as it is possible that a possible project got cancelled right after the stage of purchasing the required licenses.
It's definitely a sad situation for us contributors but for the designer as well.
I doubt that designers "professionally" return files to get a freebie. At this point they would do a Google Image search to find the high res versions without providing their personal details to an agency...
From a contributor's standpoint surely it doesn't make any sense.

...The ECO now allows you to upload material in batches. The first batch I uploaded (late last year) contained unpublished images from 2010, 2011 and 2012; no problem getting ECO to accept them and issue a certificate. ... Regards
I know about the batches and I know that I can register unpublished images that I created over the course of the last x years as well. The problem is that I would have to hold back my new uploads for let's say 3 months, register them as unpublished and then upload them because I cannot register already published images as I'm producing them on a daily basis.

I would say: "none"
latest versions of wordpress are very well optimized anyway..
the most important thing would be to write unique titles and meaningful descriptions.. postname option in the permalinks section which symbiostock utilizes will create a nice url..
I would keep it as clean as possible..
I wanted to do what you suggest - use no SEO plugin whatsoever. But when I run meta tag checkers on the product pages with my images on Symbiostock it won't display the descritpion that is shown on the actual page but not in the meta tags - so the search engine won't display the page with a description as far as I can tell. I'm not a SEO Pro by all means - I heavily depend on Google searches to find out what makes sense and what is necessary and I found this tool: http://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.htmlin order to check my meta tags and search result previews for each of my pages. That's when I noticed that the raw installation of Wordpress wouldn't show me the image descriptions. Maybe I'm just asking a stupid and unnecessary question but with this SEO plugin the page preview (for search engines) looks "good".

I've gone through a bunch of SEO plugins to get the descriptions of the images automatically added to the meta tag description and wasn't successful with that.
Now I have a SEO plugin installed is SEO Ultimate and all I can do is add the description manually for each image in order to get the image description added into the meta tags.
How do you do it in order to get optimal SEO results?

I'm kind of too busy trying to produce content than diving fully into the copyright infringement thing, therefore I'm not very informed about all details of copyright registration here in the US.
As much as I can say is:
When I submitted my second batch to register at the US Copyright office I was called back from them telling me I cannot submit a batch of images if they were not taken on the very same day!!!
Years ago, when I first heard about registration of copyright on the SS forums a bunch of old timers were bragging that they submit their content in batches collected over the course of 3 months so they submit 4 batches a year.
Apparently this isn't possible with the ECO online registration.
I did my first registration the same way and nobody contacted me but when I spoke to a copyright attorney I was also told that this type of registration wouldn't be water tight and in case of defending copyright or litigation this would have to be amended with the copyright office which isn't a big deal though...
When I talked to a rep from the Copyright office he mentioned that they were in the process of setting up a system that allows us to register batches, created during a period of time. No idea what the status of that is and if it already exists.
After that I was pretty much not interested anymore in registering...
Go figure.

The user license still won't work and it reloads the product page. I cleared my cache etc.
The current one should work. Put your license page in trash, delete from trash. Deactivate/Activate Theme. If its not fixed, I will be amazed. ... Stupid question, after trashing the license page (which comes with Symbiostock by default - I added my text to it) and deleting it from trash (no idea where the trash bin is located - but I guess I'll find it...) I would have to create that page again, so the newly activated theme actually has something to display right?
Sorry MSG - last reply for now -
No. Delete it. And yes, before you do that, copy the content!
When you reinstall the theme will generate a new blank page, and update the system where its link is. Then your link will work. Paste the content back into the page.
edit; Trash is located in the pages tab. You have, if I'm not mistaken, three fields: Published, drafts, and trash. Click on trash, get content from former page, end delete.
Did it and it worked! Thanks.

it's not always great idea to alter the max scripttimeout globally (ISPs may not appreciate it) for my online games, with ASP, i set the Server.ScroptTimeout variable in the functions that need it, then reset when the function ends.
I'm sorry, I have not the slightest clue what you are talking about. I wish I would though. I have no problems up to 25 Megapixels which is not a super big deal but I do have some larger stuff and amongst all the sites I sell my stuff at least on my own site, I 'd like to offer the full resolution as well.

I would have to contact Hostgator support to change the value, which shouldn't be a big deal.
You can override it using the root .htaccess file. Pop something like this in
php_value post_max_size 25M php_value upload_max_filesize 25M
My values are already at 64MB but don't these values only refer to file sizes? I have no problem uploading them - the problem is the processing part...

Could you (or Leo) elaborate how to increase that limit?
If you have access to php.ini, find this line: upload_max_filesize = and change it to something higher. Using FTP is also an option - you can see the folder in upload page now. ...
I would have to contact Hostgator support to change the value, which shouldn't be a big deal. However, I have a follow-up question regarding this limit: When I upload images larger than 25 Megapixel the Symbiostock uploader works just fine and gives me a check mark after successful upload. The problem starts later. The uploaded image will still show up on the "Process images" page, so once I try to process an image to Drafts something goes wonky. Once I goto "All Images" I can see a database entry for that image but no preview image. I can make it go live but the image itself is missing. IPTC data is all there but no image.

Somebody testing symbiostock just emailed me and sent me an awesome solution. I might be able to implement it tomorrow. Makes much better use of memory! Awesome.
Me? Since I had problems with only 64M memory for php on my server, and I could upload max 3Mpix images, I made some changes in code, so limit increased to about 8Mpix. Still too low for me, so I replaced php GD resize function with Image Magick and 36Mpix images are processed now. I didn't tried bigger
My upload limit is 25MP (Hostgator). Could you (or Leo) elaborate how to increase that limit?

Now, after using the new installation for a while, it's not working anymore and just reloads the product page :O
You jumped on it too quick! Now the proper link is up. This one has some more bug fixes from today, 9lives branding templates (thank you!), and an FTP path if you want to FTP your images (in uploads page) ...
I just installed the version that you posted in your original post and I think I broke it again. The user license still won't work and it reloads the product page. I cleared my cache etc.

Leo you responded to my issue with the license agreement thing and that you already uploaded a corrected version of Symbiostock. I have an inquiry: Could you start using version numbers for your releases? Even with these "few" bug reports I'm having trouble keeping up when you post a new release! That would help others probably as well. Maybe others could chime in how they feel about that. But thanks for continuously improving Symbiostock!

OK I don't know what just happened but after I did the installation of the new, updated Symbiostock the "End User License Agreement" bug was gone and I could finally access the agreement from the product page.
Now, after using the new installation for a while, it's not working anymore and just reloads the product page :O
Tested it in FF and IE, I cleared the cache and everything. How is that possible?
Have a good night!

Leo, I see that you apparently uploaded a new version of Symbiostock today.
Can I simply copy this over the old version and expect everything to be ok?
Thanks for pointing out the \' problem. Its an easy fix.
Yes, delete theme...re-upload theme. All of your settings and data will remain safe.
Without changing my page the \ keeps multiplying. Now I have \\\\\\\\ already lol.

I switched a while ago from S-t-a-r-t-l-o-g-i-c to Hostgator.
Found a coupon code online and got a fantastic deal for their "Baby Plan" (unlimited domains (hosting), disk space, databases and bandwidth).
Full, weekly backups are included if you have less than 100,000 files in your account.
The Baby Plan allows you to host up to 250,000 files.
This is some "weird" policy but this way Hostgator ensures optimal (shared) server performance. Users are not allowed to dump files online that just clutter the HDDs.
Support is native English speaking, friendly, extremely helpful and skilled ( so was my experience the last few times).
I am happy with them.
