iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock changing royalty structure« on: September 07, 2010, 16:29 »We will continue to pay out royalties based on the value of the credit purchased. In the case of royalties from Subscription credits we are adjusting the minimum value of the subscription credit from $0.95 to $0.65. Is that right? So now a xs brings 9.7 cents. Boy, that 25 cents from TS sure is looking Good. (irony) 405

It seems the problem has been fixed.
Email from DP: Hello! It seems we managed to find a bug and fix it: the problem was not in the 51 word but in the ' symbol; it broke the work of the Java Script and even if there were only 10 keywords there would be nothing you could do with them. Now the problem is solved. As for the word combination, we don't work with them as with the single keyword, so "mode of transportation" will give you three keywords. The same was here at DepositPhotos before changing the process of attributation. Regards, Michel 407
DepositPhotos / Re: Keyword sorting on Deposit Photos« on: September 02, 2010, 13:24 »Fotolia has the same keyword-importance as far as I remember, right? Its not the keyword-importance that I was referring to, but the problems with using "" with strings of keywords. Also the inability to remove words is you go over the 50 limit, leaving the submission in limbo. As to keyword-importance, well, I hate it with Fotolia and I will hate it at DP . . . . just takes too much time. 408
DepositPhotos / Re: Keyword sorting on Deposit Photos« on: September 02, 2010, 13:13 »
I would suggest not submitting to DP until they work out the bugs in the new keywording. First, any string of words with "" is read as separate words . . . even the ' in ship's caused problems leaving the word as ship' and the next word as "s". Second, if you should enter more then 50 words and get the warning that you have provided too many keywords it becomes impossible to remove any of the keywords effectively leaving the file in limbo . . . too many words and unable to cancel the submission or remove any words.
A big improvement over at DP . . . . NOT! 409

BME for SS, IS, DT, GLO . . . . . . . . . . zeros for FP, YAY, 3dS, CS. What does that tell me? At least for me its a bi-polar world.

And many businesses are keeping cash fearing a double dip recession. They are not hiring, they are not spending, they are waiting to see if the economy is really going to grow and at what rate in the near future.
So: nervous recession (recovery) + summer time + more contributors + bloated collections = slow until happy times are here again 414

I click on the link to your image (great stuff) and found that you use Keywords with "", if you click on one of these you get this: An Error Was Encountered The URI you submitted has disallowed characters. I guess GLO doesn't like these characters, you may want to Edit your Keywords. This is also new to me so I will also have a look at mine. 417

This subject is about exhausted but I thought this was interesting:
Historian Robert Taft listed nineteenth-century landscape photographer William Henry Jackson's typical photo gear for a summer's travels in his 1938 book, Photography and the American Scene. Jackson carried: 2 or 3 cameras for different size lenses lenses and plate holders for each camera 2 tripods dark tent or darkbox 10 pounds collodion 2 pints alcohol 1 pint ether 1/4 pound each ammonium iodide and ammonium bromide 1/4 pound each cadmium iodide and cadmium bromide 3 pounds silver nitrate 10 pounds ferrous sulfate 1-1/2 pounds potassium cyanide 6 ounces nitric acid 1 quart varnish package of filter papers canton flannel and rottenstone 3 negative boxes processing trays various bottles for chemicals scales and weights 400 pieces of glass Don't we have it good with a few Flash Cards and a battery charger. 421
General Stock Discussion / Re: Ansel Adams photos found« on: July 30, 2010, 07:36 »With the ignorance of many of the stock site reviewers at Istock, Crestock and Veer, those photos, if they were submitted, would probably be rejected for lighting (because they are in black and white) and composition. If it were possible for someone to go photograph these places with the exact same conditions and same composition, then submit them, it sure would be interesting to see what the results would be. You would need a large format camera, not the DSLR equipment most of us are using. These negatives are from a 6-1/2 x 8-1/2 inch glass plate camera. That is a BIG negative with LOTS of information! 422
