Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Contributor Site now live!
« on: September 20, 2016, 09:14 »
Hi Mat and thanks for the good news.

I have a question too, maybe too early for an answer but I'll ask.
I have seen in contributor help, two instances of this:

Quote
What is your commission structure?

Every time someone purchases your content, you get a 33% commission for photos and vector art and a 35% commission for videos based on the price of the image.

Fotolias commission rates differ from Adobe Stock. For sales that occur on Fotolias website, contributors will get paid the Fotolia commission rates. Read about Fotolias commission structure here.
https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/help/account-payment.html
https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/help/contribute.html - How do I get paid?

Except that AD doesn't offer exclusivity, considering that our rank still counts after sync accounts,  in what else does FT commission rates differ from Adobe Stock (or vice-versa)?

On the other hand, in the email received:
Quote
Should you decide to try out the new experience, your Fotolia account will function as usual. Even if you sync your Fotolia account on Adobe Stock (which we would highly recommend you to do so!), you will still be able to access and use your Fotolia account on Fotolia.com, and the commission rates remain the same whether you upload via Fotolia or Adobe Stock.

Thanks.

On the oder hand I'm waiting for more than 48h for two of my images to be aproved. Are they stuck somewhere?

Upload a new image and find out. If this last one will be reviewed fast, than the older ones are stuck.

I hard a look very nice.......very expensive  :o

Beautiful collection and there will always be clients who are willing to pay for a famous name (not for the photo itself), you sure remember that potato picture.

Anyway, with Scott Braut Head of contents, they will only grow. We had it better too at SS before he went "spending more time with his family".

It's not record. I have a record, I got email that my photos were reviewed, before I even got that "Thanks for submission" email.

Yes that happens very often, I got the thank you email 1 hour later than the approval, which was instant.
What was even more strange is that I uploaded two sizes of the same image by mistake (I prepare some images in different sizes). Both sizes were approved, so it must be automatic.
Now I would like to delete one of them but I don't know which is which, I still can't figure out how to see their sizes.
Why must everything be so da-n complicated at SS?

If I remember correctly, you are the one that has stolen "by mistake" other people's work and were asked to remove them, a few days ago. Now you have 100+ new images (if these are yours) and you already want sales.

Man, you have a real problem. Be thankful that SS didn't close your account for copyright infringement.

New files take a bit longer than a few years ago but I still have files climbing to page one within 3 to 4 weeks. Both vector and images. SS is far from going down for me. Yes I see some swings (seasonal and abnormal) but overall you have to realize it's like a street store. New products come on the shells and old ones start selling less. And like in a real store sales are not the same every month.

I know I am not the only one. I am on SS since 2011. I also do wedding photography and when you make bad wedding photo's the customer tells 20 people. When your work is good they only tell 5. I think it's the same on the forum here. When you have bad sales everybody tells. When you have good sales you just relax and keep going. I might step on some toes now by being to positive? But this is my experience.
Nobody said it's bad for everyone but when so many people complain about a sudden drop in September, there must be something true in it.

Your example of the street shop is exactly the opposite of the title of this thread. Many people observed that old files sell more and new ones less or not at all lately, not vice-versa.

It's not fishing, I went to the site and opened the agreement update there. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that I understood everything correctly.
I would be grateful if an English speaker would read it and give us a heads up if necessary. Thanks.

Its a Eid festival maybe the it is due to it. don't know
Sorry, I had to google what Eid festival is, at least I get more and more cultivated reading the forum.
My buyers are mostly European and I bet there could be many more uncultivated among them, just like me.

Back to the subject, I had 1-2, rarely 4-5 subs a day with one 1.75 SOD and half of the month is gone. It is worse than my very first sales, some years ago. What is going on?
Btw. Can anyone please tell me where does the 1.75 SOD come from?

410
I have a portfolio of approximately 9,000 images on FT and Shutter. I sell between 200 and 300 images per day on SH while the average of my sales on FT is 40 images per day ... Is it the same for you? ... What can explain such a difference ? ... I read on the forum that FT is in expansion since its acquisition by Adobe, personally I see no difference. :(
I only have a fraction of your portfolio size but for me FT sales are steady while SS differs very much from month to month.
This month I have more than twice $ on FT than on SS but not because FT is better, just because SS performs very badly for me this month, mostly just subs. Sales/day don't make me happy but $$/day do.

Look at the graph to the right, that pretty much sums it up.
Sorry, I can't agree with this. Not so long ago AL was pushed artificially at the top of the list. We found out later, here in some thread that people were encouraged on their forum to vote here.

Does anyone still sell anything on this site? I have never had such a bad period on Shutterstock since I am member there. Today I had ZERO downloads, yesterday 2 subs. And I've tried to continue my uploading every day. I guess now I've reached my breaking point. It is extremely demotivating working without any hope of earning improvements. Before they have started with changing the algorithm, I was doing pretty well, and I have had 4 times less than what I have now (around 2200 vectors). I've worked a lot in the past 3 months and all I can see, is a decrease of my earnings.

Any other opinion? Is everybody content or you just have given up complaining anymore?

Greetings, Luka

just have given up complaining

I just received the email with the download link. Why on earth would I download the app as a contributor? I don't buy images. I think SS just wants to brag with download numbers.

Good for you, don't mind the language. I would welcome notifications even in Esperanto but nada this weekend.

If you look across the board at so called "premium" products its hard to justify the cost in an objective way looking at function....emotion plays a massive part in marketing...
So true, its human nature.
Well, phones are not my favorite toys anyway. I want a Nikon D500, when the price will be right, if DSLR will still exist at that time.

416
It's about convenience too.  My family has four phones, and as far as I'm concerned the iPhones are very low in maintenance.  I don't have time to do tech-support on four different brands of technology.  Plus the computers, tablets and everything else.
In this case it is understandable but I doubt that you will upgrade all 4 to iPhone 7.

Sorry, my above comments didn't come out right, I left too much room for interpretation. I was talking about new technology and at the rate by which it is advancing, there will be new competitors and winners. Then, sticking to a famous brand, just for the sake of a name is childish, at least.

I never intended to denigrate any brand, iPhone and competitor did a great job back in the past but then they were resting on their laurels. Technology advances so fast and in my comparison I share Artist's opinion in what, yes they (and others) do copy. Lately all that counts for these giants is the fight among each other, so fierce that they forget about the most elementary requirement, consumers' safety (Galaxy Note 7 scandal).

417
iphone is merely copycatting other mobile brands now.
That's right, Huawei will eat them up all for breakfast soon. The P9 already has better specs on what really counts, not to mention the new Huawei Mate series with Leica dual rear cameras, 6 GB of RAM, laser autofocus, OIS, Android 7.0 ... all this for a little more than half of the price of the others.
I forgot, it doesn't explode while charging.
You are assuming the market for mobile phones is about function rather than fashion and an odd devotion to a brand
Yes, that was my assumption, thought I sense in your "voice" that loyalty to a brand (fashion or just snobbism ) is more powerful than logic. I think you are right.

Maybe the reviewer is Thai and is offended by the Red Bull heir and his actions in Thailand that spells total corruption and inequality.

He is literally getting away with killing someone. The whole situation is rather disgusting.

That's the situation with VIP progenitures all around the world. I don't blame them or the parents, the real people to blame are the people who should but don't take action against them (you know who).

I got one of those at 123 of a picture of a baby - I guess the baby somehow offended the reviewer ... It was a closeup too - no naked person in the background or anything ...
It's very hard to understand these inconsequent reviews. In my other batch only two images were approved with a closeup of small children painting, everything else about that race (in the landscape) was "blur/out of focus", only for 123.

That's what I think it is. This wouldn't be the first time that images got rejected for silly, unrelated reasons. edit: But I do notice some keywords that don't apply, like racecar, derby, etc. Even though that is where the event might be, no racecars can be seen. But maybe that is allowed because it is editorial? Also, it looks like it might be separating red and bull, so neither term makes sense. But still, not offensive, so...

Well, I was batch editing keywords and most images had racecar on them. On this one the track is behind those people in the background, you are right, not visible but not exactly spamming either. Buyers who are interested of this specific event know that it is a race.
They were not real cars but improvised, homemade vehicles like this one: http://www.123rf.com/photo_62167624_cluj-napoca-romania--september-3-2016-unidentified-racer-drives-a-diy-racecar-with-toy-pigs-down-the.html

When I saw the list of rejected images, I didn't even check any further. Just now I see that 3 were approved.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia will soon cross SS in Top Tier list
« on: September 09, 2016, 07:44 »
It says: "Step 1: Create an account. Submit content on Fotolia.com. And coming soon, submit directly on Adobe Stock or through Lightroom CC and Bridge CC." The "and coming soon" sounds promising. Hopefully they will move our existing Fotolia accounts over, and we don't have to create a new one.
It sounds promising for CC users but I have a bad feeling about what is "coming soon" for those who are not on subscription.
I was very content with things as they were, I hate changes but this is inevitable now.

This blue tent is a kind of phallic symbol, maybe they find this offensive?

I had to google that, it blows my mind just how inventive people can be. That is a worldwide known Red Bull event tent.

I was joking too.
But this does not change the fact that it is a phallic symbol :D :D

If you say so. This must be some kind of "man thing", women don't care about symbols, just the facts. :)
I was joking too.

I was joking. I put a smiley behind my sentence. Well,  I had people sitting on benches next to a fountain, 2 women with their young children. Maybe one or two people walking. A photo of the high street in the city was accepted. I don't know how well editorial photos sell. I wanted to go out to take photos of an event. Maybe now I won't bother. SS wanted a property release form for something that is public and isn't on their list. That was also an editorial. DT at least tells you why they don't want something.

Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
Well, for events SS asks press credentials lately, for 123, photos are too offensive. I had no problems with DT, BS, DP, except they don't sell. There were 33 degrees C in the shadow (91F) when I shot these images. I think I'm done with events for a while but you may have more luck.
