Well hopefully in the next couple of months (once accepted and keyworded) Alamy will join my 1000 image club.
I think with Alamy you have a better chance with the more obscure images othewise unless you have amazing keywording skills or very lucky nobody will ever find your photo.
Stil surprises me how everyone seems to submit virtually identical shots of famous sites.

There is also jupiterimages not sure how heavy they are (they owe 49% of StockXpert) OK as I am usually moaning I thought i would share some good news. After spending most of the last week preparing 479 images for Alamy and just keywording 97 images that were just accepted there. I checked my balance and I had actually sold a photo last week (I have had just over 400 photos) though my cut was only $46 as its only an 1/8 of a page with a run of less than 10,000 copies (more than I have made at CanStockPhoto since March) hopefully the first of many sales as hopefully after this DVD I will have nearly one thousand images there. Actually a miracle they found it as it was a photo with screwed up keywords (no spaces just commas) it had been online since the 22nd of June. Ullapool and Loch Broom Not my best photo.

Leaf can you remind me where the other posts comparing number of images is hidden - wasn't there a search option here once?
FT 1,306,484 iS 1,076,000 SS 1,054,242 DT 620,000 BigStock 528,000 123 400,000+ CanStockPhoto 262,081 StockXpert 170,000+ ?? FP 79,169 SPM 75,122
So 123 finally register an increase they were stuck at 300,000 for months

Now I am paranoid of not getting any extended license sales asthats where the big bucks lay, I was almost suspicious about sales slow down as I approach a payout limit.
I have enough agencies to deal with so unless one of the macro agencies start up a micro agency I won't bother with any more - to lessen the risk of getting stung.
Anybody removed their images from Gimmestock?
As any new agency needs cash pumping into marketting, maybe that explains the crappy percentage at iStock they actually spent money on marketing.
Even some of the legitimate companys have annoying business practices.
Though 123 beat iStock to reach the $100 mark, istock paid up after 24 hours and 123 make you make wait a month before paying you, whats the interest rate in the USA?
The customers pay up front (with subscriptions and bulk credit purchases) but the suppliers are paid in arrears standard business practice but in NOT microstock. SS pay you once a month BUT at the beginning.
nruboc,
On a brighter note
I remember reading elsewhere about someone who had their own site and used to FTP to their site and had some code to FTP to automatically to the micro sites -are you that person? Any way of finding out that code. Not so much interested in setting up my own site just speeding up the upload process (after completing a 72 hour upload marathon 1.8meg/min, 108meg/hour sounds good until you have half a gig to upload to multiple sites).
My e-mail address is on this site
I had 9.40 euros at SPM way short of 60 euros and I requested a payment as you can do so every 3 months and they sent me 10 euros. I wish more low earning sites would allow a similar system of 4 payments a year.

Accusing sites of illegal activities could be libelous
but warning of other Micro stockers of strange behaviour is quite another thing. There are a lot of sites out there and I'm sure some are making offers too good to be true.
Not to mention of sites that can't seem to sell any images.

Regarding similar images at Dreamstime you can always send them an e-mail and resubmit if you feel strongly.
I don't usually bother it was a vector illustration of the John Hancock tower of Chicago it was accepted and but hasn't sold yet

I think we are all contributing to one of the best forums,
virtually no locked threads
fairly polite banter
no censorship - you can compare sites
kept fairly on topic
I find this forum keeps me busy enough I only only look at others if someone points something worth reading out.

Just had the word from SS OK they accepted 90/123
and 90 new images at SS is going to generate a lot more money than at StockXpert, curious what the other sites think of the latest batches. Glad to see FT and BS have speeded up, alas for CanStockPhoto
Latest batch 9/49 (though they accepted one I had forgotten to rotate - its hard to tell quite abstract)

whats the limits on Moneybookers regarding transfers?
As I don't have a landline (internet through cable) so vertification of my Paypal account is rather tricky and i will eventually reach the £1,500 limit.
I think I would be happier being paid by paypal then giving out my bank details to all these different agencies.
Wouldn't there be a problem trying to transfer $100 to an non US$ account?

Yes StockXpert are still among the fastest to review with a sensible upload limit but I am having serrous doubts about their reviewing system.
If they didn't have such a easy upload system if I was short on upload time I would consider dropping them, so now I only categorize once they have reviewed them.
I have recently uploaded three batches 4/50 11/32 5/40
yes folks 20 out of 122
A lot "thanks not looking...." The strangest thing was they accepted 7 out of 8 photos of the natural History museum in London
Still waiting for the other sites so far only BS 17/25.

Have LO joined the 21st century yet and opened a Paypal account? A $40 cheque isn't too much use either.

Going back to Alamy are they really taking upsized Jpegs now (saved at setting 12)?
Any news on the uploading instead of DVD/CD submissions?

I would say DT, BS, FT for referrals in my own experience of actual money earnt from referrals. SS have good rewards on paper but as yet I have no referred photographers. DT will give you $5 for displaying a site badge.
BS strange rewards of $5 for when the new photographer reaches 75 accepted photos is nice got another $5 today I am keeping my fingers crossed for the other 6 photographers who signed up.

Regarding Can Stock my feelings are if you have limited uploading time not the best place to upload to but if you have photos there after the work of uploading and categorizing you might as well leave them there for a few months until after Christmas. OK 20c is poor for subscription but the regular and Guest downloads have respectable payouts.
I get the feeling that with some of these sites that the creators had the "Field of Dreams" menality "if you build it they will come" unfortunately to some sites a lot more photographers than designers turn up.
A pity that more sites don't adopt FT no minimum payout (but $1 surcharge for less than $50) or SPM no minimum but every three months.

Thanks GWB
Thanks again to Leaf for setting up this site a much faster source of information than asking the sites directly

maybe FT were including their free images even though they are hosted on another site now i believe. Maybe the lack of hits for popular keywords is to a lot of newbie photographers not keywording properly and then not being to do anything about it. maybe this is why they didn't have a competition for the millionth image - conspiracy theories

For regulars at this site I am not dead just been away photographying.
Upon my return I noticed that i had finally reached payout at iStock and 123rf
I found the hidden request for payment in "support" at iStock whats the wait for paypal payments?
If I reached the payout limit at 123rf at the end of August when do they actually payout mid September early October?
Not too impressed with StockXpert only 4/50 accepted for my first batch.
I notice iStock are still enforcing their 20/168 hour limit what a joke.

I think its a combination of lack of advertising and high prices
I must admit I have over 1100 images at SPM and the sales are incredibly slow BUT at least they have the option that you can cash out every three months regardless of the amount (their limit is 60 euros). Its is certainly a policy I wish a few other agencies would adopt.
Their FTP option is a bit strange sometimes its a couple of days before the files appear to be categorized.
Leaf, Phildate did you ever get a normal payout?

upload's easy as ftp. i do mine from my hosting co. by Thad Going slightly off topic does this mean you are FTPing from your computer to your website and then FTPing from your website to the microstock sites? If not does anyone do this or know how hard it is to set up. Obviously upload speeds from PC - Server are very slow but once its on a proper server file transfers would be much faster I am curious about this for a while as I am currently on "assignment" at the moment hence the lack of posts and I am going to have so many photos to upload upon my return

I see from the latest LO newsletter that they have introduced affiliate earnings
$5 for a new buyer
$1 for a new photographer when they have first three photos accepted (they might want to start checking IDs)
and they used one of Leaf's photos in the newsletter.

For any of you guys with a video camera and are thinking of making some footage use a tripod. My first batches were accepted virtually 100% at SS but then the later batches about 95% rejected for shakiness/poor composition.
so 29 accepted
51 rejected

I seem to remember seeing something about a tax form you needed to fill in at Shutterstock if you earn over $400 not there yet but that day is going to come. Any ideas where the DL is or whether as a non US citizen whether I still have to complete it.
