The maths is quite speculative and you have to make lots of assumptions but the conclusion seems to be you have to upload at a high rate to maintain earnings but its not the meltdown that some people suggest.

"If the agencies think they can survive with content from hobbyists, they're mistaken, but will soon have to learn that the hard way." Imho The objective evidence such as Shutterstocks earnings don't support this conclusion.

With Sstock vs Fotolia in particular I think fotolia have a stronger presence in Europe which makes a difference

Actually seems a good idea to me gives customers more variety and they can drill down if they want. Arguably favours creativity over sheer volume.

Fair point yep would need to be a high overall seller rather than an individuals best seller

"Best seller is a relative statement and by no means a statistic that merits acceptance at a stock agency nor is it an indication that the image has a high commercial value "
I don't follow the logic if an image is a "best seller" I would have thought by definition it is High Commercial Value? Not necessarily high production value or high quality though?

I suspect search engines different buyer profiles on different sites statistical variability and LUCK are the biggest factors in variability

Probably because people on this site will find fault with anything......the point is its inconsistent maybe my pictures are crap but sometimes they get accepted sometimes they dont

I'm not sure posting examples will help and the subject is flogged to death until it starts affecting ss bottom line nothing will change sad but true.

Not especially......unless you have a large portfolio or income I wouldn't read too much into one months figures.

Im sure people have more knowledge but doesn't culpability lie with the user of the picture - who I guess could sue the agency if he/she was misled?

Even if SS accepts the video, I believe that the artist still has culpability if someone sees themselves or a company sees its logo. Probably depends on how the video is used and how much of the clip is used...fast glance where it is impossible to make any claims of "harm" versus a full 10 or 20 seconds could make a difference. To be safe I'd go editorial.
Can you imagine a commercial piece on "crowds of drug users walk the streets of Taiwan" and they use your clip? It's just not worth the $23 bucks.

I do like Visaprint - certainly from UK quality is very good. They do lots of offers - worth keeping an eye out.

Dont think "the big four" concept really works - I have a big one . Then a middle three a group of low earners and some don't know why I bothers!

You have to retain a sense of humour in this game - just had 17 out of 20 rejected on SS mostly for OOF. Meanwhile on RF123 had 2 rejected - one of them for OOF - guess what? - one of the three accepted on SS. (and I very rarely get /cant remember the last oof on RF)

Thanks both but that leaves me a bit confused since Pauws ahd some rejected.... Pauws - are you fairly sure it was for the medals?
Yes they are UK may depend on origin and whats written on them - maybe I should try cloning out the text - but not sure I'd get much return on them.....maybe when my "stuff to do" Q gets shorter

H'mmmm so you could extrapolate those sales to equal $$$$$? Don't think so? They are not proof of Not getting future sales either. You are much better at this game than me and I suspect 99.5% of us if you can forecast sales with any certainty. I would say 5 sales quickly is a promising start
