Well here's the dillio as far as I understand it:
Partner API - resells FT photos directly = the same price. Business API - "(c) ...You shall charge an amount for the End Product that exceeds the aggregate Fotolia Price for each Work contained therein." (everyone gets paid) The Business API is for derivative works = tshirts, mouse pad, etc. Developer API - must be non-commercial (plugins, aps, etc)
The ONLY interesting part of this is the Reseller API and to be honest, they don't have ANYTHING about it in the Terms of Use - I'm not even sure it's ready to go yet. Until we know that, we won't know what's allowed & not allowed or how FT & its members get paid.
(On the Documentation Page, there's no line for Reseller API)

if everyone is dropping on the rank, who is going up? I have gone from rank #5515 or something in that range to 2107 currently in the last 3 weeks. I honestly wish I had an answer for you guys. I'm not sad that I'm selling but I wish everyone was having a better month overall. Most of my sales are *still* older images. Stuff that I had on FT before most of you heard of FT if you know what I mean. Those do *not* have the "7 keywords" thing going for them. Of my last 7 sales, only 1 has been from an image I added in the last 2 months. 5 were added in early 2006 and one was added in late 2007. (I have NO clue what any of this means or how it's happening but I want to give you guys the raw data to play with)

Well I couldn't in good conscience vote for mine. So I voted for Lee's MSD site. BUT - it's a microstock feed right? Add them all - none of us update like 10 times a day. hehe (And I hope you do enjoy reading Niltomil enough to add it)

now that imageManager is back in business for IS, i'll be uploading more to IS first (tho it still bugs me to have to disambiguate!) Have you tried Deep Meta? Doooooo that if you haven't! It's awesome.

It seems to me that the only way we will get a decent deal now is if we run our own site. Which won't help unless you get Andres, Yuri, Ron, Matka and Kirsty on board....

There are only a few steps to microstock photography, essentially. Goes a bit like this: 1) Conceptualize & schedule model for shoot. 2) Shoot 3) Edit the images from the shoot. 4) Keyword & IPTC for the images you edited. 5) Upload images to various sites. 6) Submit images once FTPd. Honestly, 1, 2 and 6 aren't usually bad (6 is harder on DT and FT though) So the main question is - how can you speed up the editing process? I think three places:- Learning photoshop hotkeys, shortcuts, actions, etc. - Taking better images in the camera - Taking the time to figure out what you're spending time on & how to remove those steps. (this is what I blogged about today on N2M and I have a backlog of 900 images so this is what's on my mind)

Isn't mantonino saying his old images are selling, not the new ones? Yes, exactly. I've had a lot of sales of OLD images lately. Stuff that wasn't selling because the "7 keywords" weren't done. Everything I've submitted recently is just as bad as everyone's here but I have a ton of old images too and those are selling like crazy.

Whatever they broke seems to affect older images - my old stuff is selling, newer stuff isn't. I've had a BME *already* by the 11th of the month so ... it's doing something to you guys with 3000+ pics done right that it isn't doing to me.

If you can deal with the stigma of having it, whale tail studio is the best studio diffuser I think. Other than you know, diffusion panels.

I tend to use the website & PM ones. I would like to see those stay. It's convenient - profile is useless if you can click their names & see profile. lol As you can see on mine, there's 2 lines. If you can get it down to ONE line and put either a registered date or # of posts, that'd be great!

Yanik,
I added your blog to my rss feeder - great tutorial, I'm glad to see it brought to life on video (I had read the original when it came out)

if you get in the top 10 you have to submit the original RAW or jpg file And there are programs that tell you if a program (Photoshop, ACDSee, LR, etc) has modified the original - you either have to submit a TRUE original or you don't win. lol DPC is a great place to learn a lot of photography & stock skills - and a great place to get ideas to shoot!

Why are the names of the Infinite Collection photographers being kept a secret?
If one of those links up there had been mine, I wouldn't want my name on it either.

I found out about microstock when I was on DPChallenge and the topic came up multiple times on their forums. In fact at least some DP Challenge members are "microstock famous" in some way or other:
Leaf Nico Blue Mel King
All DPC'ers. I'm sure there are HUNDREDS more. My join date for most stock sites is 2004. lol
