If so, makes me wonder why Adobe would have even approved of this venture then.

Because it's an added bonus. They havent invested in this, after all they use fotolia's infastructure with a frontend so to speak, and the fact that they  compress so heavily is because they dont want to afford infastructure for storage and network. It's cheaper like that.
They cant even display downconverted hd clips, something that should have been on their top priority since they can't mirror 4K clips from fotolia (which hasnt even priced them officially).
How long since Mat Hayward announced the 4K bug on their "to fix immediately" list?Sure.

Meanwhile fotolia still can't display a proper video preview.Especially for 4K files it takes longer to load the preview than to encode the prores from my end.
Makes me curious how i even sold 5 clips there during the past 45 days.

Yes, I upload big ProRes422 files and they compress to 1/10 of the size for customers to download.  LOL.

427
But, I don't think serious media makers are happy buying highly compressed video files there instead of Apple ProRes you can buy at Pond5 or Shutterstock.

If they decide to sell at much lower price or lower our commission, we can just delete our clips.  It's so easy.

429
About 750$ owed.Items were selling untill the website shutdown, so I don't even know the exact amount.

We don't even know if the sales numbers were honest too.  There's no way of knowing it.

430
An older thread here but just wondering how sales are over at ME, especially for editorial branded content.

Currently I am on P5, VB, SS, P5 being #1, VB, a close #2 and SS a very distant third, looking for a 4th and maybe 5th site to place my content on.

I deleted all my clips within a year this year.  No sales at all there.  Don't waste your time and effort.  It's better drinking egg nog than uploading and tagging there.

431
If he pays contributors back $10,000/year, most of what he owes to us may be paid in 5 years.  For him not to do it is unconscientious.   Some people blame the company (legal person) to get away from personal ethical responsibility.

432
Revostock (Craig Lillard) ows me $2346 as you can see in the attached printscreen. I haven't heard from him since he closed the website  >:(

Oh, that hurt's.  I feel your pain.  Sorry.

433
Like 70$ ...i don`t remember exactly...

$650 total now.

Im curious too.Why dont you share some of your personal experiences and i will share mine.

I got out like ASAP.  I'm happy.

I stayed, stopped uploading, still get lots of  sales, and im not happy.
Funny how people measure happiness.

Hahaha.

435
Actually, I just went through my emails and found out I made like $500 after the last Revostock payment in 2014.  That makes me angry now.

So, the total now is $580.

436
Luckily, they owe me only like $50.

That's only if their sales report was honest of course.

$80 for me, not much and I really don't care. I am more angry for those who lost thousands.

OK, $130 total now.

No 4K for me and ZIP downloads this month. Something simply does not add up.

Feel the same way.Nowhere else have i gone from 2-5 downloads a day to 2-5 downloads in 2 weeks.
I believe it is the end of their subs program where people joined massively and bought massively and after that everyrthing is quiet once again.
Like a black friday stock footage marketplace :)
Helloitsme is reporting growth but he seems to be the only one here so far and we dont know the number of his clips,so...

I agree with the sales irregularity.  Sometimes no sales for a week or two and suddenly becomes hot.  That's weird.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

That must hurt.

I had a few 4k sales this month and already surpassed last month's sales amount overall.  Is it good or bad?

It's good for you i suppose.

If you say so, I believe it.

Ask yourself why a company has chosen to host and sell your clips and not retain any of that earning. As if it all just happens for free.

It doesn't just happen 'for free'. They make their money off of users' subscriptions who can 'shop' at the Unlimited Clips section. The Marketplace section (where we sell our clips) can be considered a Premium collection that probably serves to attract customers. Granted, it's a bold strategy plan, to offer 100% royalties, but as long as it works for them and us, why not enjoy the benefits?

VB doesn't disappoint so far, sales are picking up fast and the RPD is very nice. I make more per video sale and I sell more videos than on SS and Pond5.

Some here are afraid to sell at VB because they think it'll force the market prices down. VB isn't selling at $10, it's $49. A low price, yes, but not too low.
All this bogus talk about how it destroys the market and endangers your future earnings; that'll happen regardless of VB. When 4K becomes the new norm, HD will become what SD is now. An ever increasing supply will dilute sales anyway in the future. So I'd say, get what you can while you can (if the offer is good of course) and stop trying to control the constant change of the market. You're only missing out on sales.

Thank you sir.  I agree with you 100%.

446
Most anti-Video Blocks people aren't responding to my original post.  I don't care if you sell at VB or not.  That's not the point I raised on my original post.
Your original post is non-sensical and narrow. There is nothing to respond to in the fashion you're looking for.

Then, say nothing.  You are wasting time of your own.  Just start your own thread instead of being a perpetual wino.
"You should make a buyer want to buy at $49 on VideoBlocks rather than paying more on Pond5 or any other sites"

You start your OP with this and expect everyone to agree?

You just don't get my point.  $79 sale on SS will give a contributor only $24 or so.  $79 sale on P5 will give contributor only $40 or so.   $49 sale on VB will give contributor $47 which is more than those $79 sale on other sites.  More money in our pocket is good, for me at least, maybe not for you.  :)

447
Pricing is really far more tricky than people think. Over the past few years I would
say SS and P5 are very close in video sales but that's only because I own extremely
rare historical footage that absolutely no one on this planet has ever seen before....
Those clips are priced in the $100's and only offered on P5. Many times now P5 generates as much money per month as SS because of a handful of clip sales.

When I price I always factor in the uniqueness of the subject/clip. I know what I'll earn through SS so I never try to earn more with P5. And I only work with 2 agencies
because other agencies simply don't offer me enough incentive to upload. AND I never
upload a substandard clip. My bg is a professional videographer for 35 years. I wish those who are new/learning had the capacity to recognize that their clip is crap. Agencies filled with professional, skilled, well shot clips and nothing else would make the industry far more attractive to editors/videographers who need a
clip to enhance/complete their project.

Good point.

anathaya;

All sorts of reasons like intellectual property, quality, too similiar, etc... but I don't agree with 90% of those reasons.

alijaber;

Thanks for the tip :).  I've heard that adobe stock has been working well with videos and that is why I have uploaded some of my files. I'll wait and see...

cheers

Every agency's review standard is different.  You just need to move on.  It's a waste of time to try to fight.
