making negative posts stay on the page wouldn't be a problem - perhaps I'll change that.
I still like the voting though. When there are 100 people saying one thing and one person saying another.. perhaps there are lots of people who don't feel like speaking up but agree with the one person. They can then simply press the 'agree' button and the reading audience can see that a lot of people actually do share the same opinion, even if there is only one post taking that position.

i think I should relabel the hard and down arrow with words 'agree' 'disagree'. People often take much too much offense when they get a 'down vote'. It really isn't a big deal if someone disagrees with you.
How about showing the actual tally? So many hearts, so many down.
Yeah. I want to do that but it is a big hack to get it to work. I haven't attempted it yet.

Ah yes OK, well I can still agree that the minimum 'buy in' for the DPC is low - just saying that in terms of commissions it is a step in the right direction and looks ok.

The fact that her posts have gone dark because of too many [-1]s is the same as stifling her, gagging her. You took away the one thing she has to offer you; sound advice.
I know you aren't familiar with the forums, but anyone can see posts that have been hidden because of minus votes - it's not a gag and the post is there for everyone to read if they wish.
I'd also agree with other people that the + and - votes are about agreement or disagreement with a point of view, not a popularity contest or referendum on a person's value. Lisa has been a very valuable voice here and I'm sorry she chose to leave. I hope she decides to come back - that does happen, including with me. I left after a series of dust-ups with Gostwyck and later decided the value here was worth returning (this was several years ago now).
I strongly disagree with the point of view Lisa took over Fotolia's Dollar Photo Club, but there's no ill will - beyond a lot of ill will directed at the slimeballs that gave us anything about which to disagree. There's a very dark place waiting for those wretches, I hope.
I'm guessing I speak for more than just me when I ask Lisa to reconsider her departure. We don't have to agree with you to want you around here
Well written Jo Ann.

I know we are all frustrated with DPC, but .. er.. isn't this good news?
Fotolia are making it more lucrative to be part of DPC. Isn't that what we want/wanted?
just asking..... (goes and hides behind the tomato shield)

I'm guessing that in a lot of countries the country domain endings are very popular. I know that is both true for Canada and Norway. In Norway people put most trust in the .no endings.

Shutterstock should introduce a few more higher levels. After 38 cents, what goals are there left for you? Actually I prefer an agency that puts up levels that are actually achievable for "regular people" as well. Rather than setting a new level of $0.40 if you reach $10 million lifetime earnings.
They have the goals already set for 'regular people' though. It would be fun / nice to have a few more goals for the full time stock photographers. I'm guessing the top 100 or so photographers on Shutterstock make the top goal requirements every month. A goal in the $100,000 or $200,000 lifetime earnings range wouldn't be so ridiculous.

Agreed, it would be great to have some lofty high goals to shoot for. Even if it was a penny more per download.

CanStockPhoto is owned by fotosearch so we shouldn't be suprised that the images are also there. There are some nice larger sales ($15-$20 range) through fotosearch which has been a nice thing.

I'm a pretty happy KTools user. There are only a couple solutions and none of them are the flawless. I have one site running with Ktools now and get a few sales a month.

another case of exponential grow is Elnur but as a one man show
Feb 2013 - 64k pictures April 2014 - 106k pictures (115 per day)

Except he isn't a one man show (per the article).
he spoke at the last Mexpo and he certainly isn't a one man show. His costs are well monitored (he is an accountant if I remember correctly in his 'full time regular day job').. but he has at least 1 shooter and several retouchers / uploaders.

I can't understand how anyone feels this is a bad deal. Like others have said, the image sizes are small, use is very restrictive and limited and the buyer (the end user who runs an ad on facebook) uses the images for free (pays through paying for their ad) so they'll use lots of images. As an advertiser I love the idea and as a stock photographer I also love the idea.
I wouldn't bet that Shutterstock is getting any crazy bonus for this as it is mutually beneficial for them as it is for Facebook. Even if they were, we can easily see the gross income Shutterstock takes in each quarter and the total amount paid out to artists. We can easily keep tabs on the overall % they pay out to us. If the % dropped we know they are getting more than they are sharing.. if it stays the same (like it has appeard to do) then our comissions have been staying the same, on average, over all their products and deals.

fixed - I looked at the votes and there was a voter who had probably just spammed the results. A member with 3 posts voted on a number of various sites with silly votes.
Anyhow, I've also just changed it so that you need 10 posts before you can vote in the poll.
