General Stock Discussion / Re: BigStock Raises Payout To $50
« on: August 19, 2009, 19:08 »
Rats!  And I just hit $30 the other day...and with the "7 day grace period" I'm gonna have to wait a bit longer before I hit the payout button.  :(

I just checked my balance there and saw this:

**A minimum commissions earned required for payout is $30.00 to receive payment by Paypal or MoneyBookers and $50.00 to receive payment by US check.

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like business as usual.

Veer / Re: Veer, the new Crestock?
« on: August 07, 2009, 02:01 »
Wow!  I just had 49 out of 65 rejected.  My first thought upon getting the email about it was "Wow!  Is this Veer or Crestock?"  :(  I suppose I should be glad that they took 16 of them.  Most all the files were rejected for "The subject matter is outside of Veer Marketplace's current needs " it makes me wonder what their current needs really are.  And, more importantly, why are they turning a blind eye to their future needs?  *shrugs*

You have now sold 100 images at Crestock.com.

As a highly valued Crestock contributor, your commission has been raised to 30% on all credit sales from now on.

Please note that for subscription purchases, the commission remains unchanged.

We look forward to continuing to work with you!

Best regards,
The Crestock Team

Do they?   :-\

I'm wondering if that's 100 unique images or 100 sales regardless of image...  ::)

I'm not sure what's up with them.  I've been checking out the picniche toolbar, and the other night, it reported that I had a $100 sale.  A few minutes later, it then reported that my balance was NEGATIVE $45.  It's been bopping around to all sorts of strange numbers lately, and is currently sitting at $0.14.  Something isn't adding up...

Veer / Veer/Snapvillage royalties
« on: June 10, 2009, 13:34 »
I have a couple of questions regarding royalties in regards to Veer & SV.  Hopefully someone can provide an answer...

1) What is going to happen to the royalties earned on SV?
    a) will they be folded into Veer?
    b) will Veer sales be reported and folded back to SV?

2) In looking at my SV royalty detail for May, the detail adds up to a different larger number than what the summary is showing.  Were these sales Veer sales that were reported back to SV?

Thanks!

We do plan on releasing tools to enable you to edit metadata after the fact.
While I don't have an exact ETA, this functionality is definitely planned for a future contributor release.

Good news!  The sooner, the better, IMHO.

I'm also glad that the keywording issues will be fixed soon.

Veer / Re: Veer Marketplace Opens for Submissions!
« on: June 08, 2009, 20:15 »
Most of my images from SV were transferred, but not all. I also have the problems that many of the keyword are incorrect or missing. Some of my thumbnails are also missing.

Hi Oboy -

Thanks for the PM - we're currently investigating the keyword issue on transferred content.

Images that are not showing up have not yet been loaded, - these will display as "blanks" until they have been processed by the system. It may take another week or two to finish loading and processing content transferred from SnapVillage.

Hey Brian,

I'm experiencing the same issues with a lot of my photos, some have some really strange keywords, and some have no keywords.  Hopefully these hiccups will be taken care of quickly.

If you need some image numbers, please let me know and I'll get them to you.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Isn't market large enough?
« on: June 01, 2009, 16:27 »
I would imagine that  before an agency becomes a takeover target, they would need to have a regular income stream and enough customers to justify the acquisition. Or the small agency would have to pose enough of a financial threat to a more established agency to  make it worth their while in acquiring and assimilating the small agency.  I do recall tech companies back in the "dot com" days that would hope to be acquired by a larger fish just so the founders/principles could cash in.

SJLocke: 200% of my pictures are accepted and featured on page 1 of best match. You are non-exclusive and therefore do not exist.

I wish.  The first part, I mean.  You may just be a figment of my imagination and not exist.

*whew*  And here I was thinking "Is he Chuck Norris?"   ;D

iStockPhoto.com / Re: IS CV Server down...
« on: May 22, 2009, 14:02 »
I encountered the same problem last night.  I haven't yet tried today to see if it's still a problem...

65
I had about 1000 images on SV, and now I have about 250 on VMP.

I'm kind of wondering about that, too.  I was able to find my gallery there, and it's just a small portion of what I have on SV.  Back when the StockXpert/photos.com/JIU thing erupted, they indicated that all StockXpert images would be available on the other sites.  I've found several of my images that are available on StockXpert, but are not on photos.com/JIU.  I suspect that there really was a screening process, and I'm wondering if there will be something similar with the transition to Veer.

Then that begs the question, if some of our images which sell well on other sites are "screened" out by Veer, would there be anything preventing a contributor to go through the normal submission channel with their "screened-out" images?

« on: May 04, 2009, 22:06 »
I just went to log in and it had one of those Capcha things--where you have to enter two distorted words to prove that you're human.

It sure messed with the PicNiche toolbar...   :(  >:(

68
So, when I sale something on Photos.com, where my earning goes? To StockXpert or IS? Or maybe IS won't send to Photos.com images that are already sent there by StockXpert?

I think that's what IS means--that they won't send them if the image is already on photos.com or JIU.  However, I'm not sure how they're going to be able to tell as the images will have different keywords (IS uses their controlled vocabulary), and they could have different titles.

For those of you who already have images on Photos.com, we'll ensure there is no duplication. Yes, there will be extended licensing offered on those files on photos.com. If you opt in to the program and decide later to opt out or deactivate one of your files, the images will be removed within 24 hours.

70
Um...wow  :o

but now what's gonna happen with my StockXpert photos that are opted into sales on photos.com and JIU?   ???   ???

Oh, what a tangled web...

71
I started uploading in January 2008. It would have been December 2007, but that 30-day thing with SS kept me focused in image quality.

The fifth file I ever submitted to iStock has been my best seller with 285 downloads on IS alone.

Just got this message from Snapvillage...  It looks like if you have files to send, better send them in soon!

Dear SnapVillage Contributor,

Its been just over two months since we announced our plans to roll SnapVillage into a new microstock offering on Veer named Veer Marketplace. Weve been moving at a rapid pace as we get closer to the mid year launch when our upload capabilities will be live.

The next stage requires that we stop accepting new uploads to SnapVillage. We have scheduled this to happen on Friday, May 1. This means you can continue to upload images through April 30th, but after that youll have to hold on to your images for a few weeks while we transfer the rest of the SnapVillage content over to Veer Marketplace. While we cant take new uploads, youll still be able to access your SnapVillage account as you always have and during this transition, SnapVillage buyers will continue to be able to license your content.

We launched Phase 1 of Veer Marketplace in late February with 140,000 images that are now available for purchase on veer.com and we are still slated for a full launch mid year with contributor upload capabilities and credit-based pricing and subscriptions. Well be in touch with you over the next few weeks with an update on the Phase 2 launch date which will include the go-live date for the upload features on Veer Marketplace, submission guidelines and details about the new Veer Marketplace agreement and royalties.

Here's a couple of things that came to mind...I think a couple of them have already been mentioned...

1. FTP to get files to you
2. Easy to assign model releases (as in easy for the submitter--not necessarily for the programmer  ;D )
3. Limited or no categories
4. Not to sound too snarky, but image buyers...so work up some great marketing plans!
5. No photos of any of the Fotomina people wearing wigs.  Please...  8)

Crestock.com / Re: How to delete rejections?
« on: March 05, 2009, 18:25 »
Here is what they said (at last an answer to a question I sent):

"If you send me the image IDs, I can delete these for you as long as it's not an unreasonable amount of images. No one can see the rejected images but you, so I'm not sure why you want to remove them."

So... basically they don't understand why someone would want to remove rejected images. I am just wondering why they do everything to keep them? Now I have to send the ID of each rejected ones, and if they are too many, forget about it. They keep them!

It doesn't make sense to me. It's my right to remove the rejections from their system, no?

I think they want to keep them their as badges to either our lack of photographic skill or of their editorial prowess...  ;)
