I got an email announcing the rumbling amount of ... 0,03$. Not mine, and no balance update ( I'm too many "floors down" to be struck by a "level bug".. I think )

Anyway, they are powered by Microsoft? ( error in the error information... ).

Mine disappear again. I've searched with all options ( creative, non-creative, with my name, my uncle name, etc ).

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy Image Prices
« on: June 08, 2012, 06:48 »
"Novel Use" will show up under your "Summary of items sold" under the detail column as "Novel Use Scheme...."

The licenses you show above are both Royalty Free licenses.  The price differences reflect different deals that Alamy has with different customers...and they may also reflect usage.

In your instance, I'm going to say they probably reflect usage.  The first instance is a low resolution image sale (notice is says 83kb compressed) which is probably being used in a news feature thumb nail for 24 or 48 hours on a news website.  Perhaps a link to the news story.

The second image is a higher resolution file (same size in dimensions but a higher resolution at 120kb compressed),  My guess would be that it is one of the main images used to represent the news story whether it be in the headline or embedded within the text.

Thanks for the explanation!

Can someone explain that:

Royalty-free   820 KB
648 x 432 pixels
83 KB compressed
$ 6.15

Royalty-free   820 KB
648 x 432 pixels
120 KB compressed
$ 56.10

Is an Distribution sale ( normally "novel use" appear as is ) ?

Veer / Re: Veer portfolio on Alamy deleted
« on: June 04, 2012, 14:22 »
I've checked and at this moment my Veer portfolio on Alamy has been deleted.

Thanks Brian, but I'll keep a close eye on this issue since as someone living from the stock income I cannot trade +30% of my income for 2% of it.

There is a technical issue going on at Alamy where recent uploaded images are not showing up in searches...I had a batch of 146 images that went live on Friday that are missing from the search but are still listed in Manage Images.  May or may not be related to you not seeing things in your search.

The few images from Veer Portfolio that I got on Alamy "Creative Colection" were removed. And they more than year old on both agency's, so I doubt that is related to that search issue.

Before that I sent an email requesting Veer to suspend all my images. Got an answer after one day or less, on June 1, saying that images would be removed from Alamy.

One of two things:

- Or they are removing in reverse order ("LIFO").
- Or they are remove smaller batch's first

Anyway, they promise and are doing it. I'm still interested if they control duplicates and/or have opt-out option.

59
You can activate a link on every image: "Available for Request to License" ( Getty Images )

60
And You're right. Any other links to an micro stock agency are deleted upon saving they ( on description for example).

An workaround is link to Your personal website/blog where You are free to redirect to agency.

I have something like that, but I'm forced to agree with ShadySue, and will rethink it.

123RF / Re: 123RF in China
« on: May 31, 2012, 20:25 »
Good, because is almost certain that, in Jan 2013, we will be likely "Chinese workers"  ::)

ETA: With all respect about China and all his people.

62
"Top Tier":

Global: -16% compared to last month. 65% more than May 2011, with the follow order:

ShutterStock ( exception on sales breakdown... )
Fotolia
123RF
Istock ( hoping an miracle on PP revenue )
Dreamstime

The best of May: Level up on two agencies ( easy to guess ) and that means a bit more revenue on next month.. or not  ;D

The worst: Pathermedia confirmed as dead. Cutcaster "stills" dead. -16% is too bad.

For me does not bother me so much this partnership if:

- Veer placed only the pictures that I do not have on Alamy.
- Opt-Out option by agency. Alamy is Macro... end of conversation. I don't bother work with PP of micro stock agency's with another micro stock ones ( less for even less... but not  with my beloved Alamy )

Bah... first images I've upload to Veer already appear duplicated ( Alamy and Creative Collection ).

Already emailed them to disable all images and remove them  from Alamy creative collection.

I can wait for customers, because i'm still waiting ( October 2011 ) that some images from Yaymicro, DP somehow appear on pixmac  ::)

With some luck I'll have they online,  when some customer visit pixmac :D

Shutterstock.com / Re: May EL's
« on: May 25, 2012, 09:19 »
Since I've enough regular sales on SS, I've notice that sub sales increased in last 3 months, but OD's decreased more than 50% in same period. That means , so far, 3 months without  any EL. The reason behind could be the type of images ( non-life-style, people and few about business ) I've, that don't sell enough to hit EL's so regularly.

67
I will probably borrow a lens and see if I like the Macro lens...

It's a good idea. Almost lens on my set were tested before I buy them ( large group of friends with canon )

All 1:1 lens are an prime lens, with a good max aperture. The sweet spot of a dedicated macro lens is on closer shoots, but they have a good performance in all kind of subjects.

I have non L version of canon 100 2.8 Macro, and it's sharper enough , even shooting @ f/2.8.

68
For macro work only, Tamron 90 2.8 or Sigma 105 would do the job as the Canon 100 2.8 ( L or not )

If You plan do something more, Canon for sure.

http://www.123rf.com/submit/commission.php

Write captcha and there You get all sales on each month. Then click on actual month.

It's the same way for both Commercial and Editorial Images.

It's somehow funny, look into all complaints, made several months ago, about the "legality" of DP. How fast people change opinion  ;D

We didn't all change our opinion.   I never did go with DP as I still feel uneasy about this agency in spite of others' success there.  Each to his own though.

I'm speaking about "general opinion".. not anyone particularly.

But I see that as an "positive mind change". If people trust more on DP, maybe they understood how DP it's safer as any other agency.

I just send this to her and asked her to activate my account and delete my deactivated files in 30 day period. To day my account is online and my files are also online ???
Asked her again deactivate all files and delete them in 30 day period.

With a little bit of patience, they will do it. Once, on a particular agency, I got my images deleted after 24 hours of being online. On agreement they would be deleted only after 6 months...

Anyway, even without regular sales ( yet ) on DP, it appear to have some potential. Dunno reasons behind Your decision, but probably You haven't nothing to loose have Your account online.

.....

It's somehow funny, look into all complaints, made several months ago, about the "legality" of DP. How fast people change opinion  ;D

ETA: He was gone... dam II need write faster in future reply's :D

On the contributor agreement, http://submit.depositphotos.com/supply-agreement.html :

12. TERMINATION EFFECT

In case of termination of this Agreement, in accordance with the authorities granted under this agreement, Depositphotos shall cease collaboration in the following ways:
During the 30 (thirty) days prior to the Agreement termination, Depositphotos shall remove from the Site all files and files uploaded by the Contributor;
Notwithstanding the fact of termination, Depositphotos has the ability and right to continue the licensing of any already accepted files until their removal from the Site;
Upon the expiration of the Agreement and after its termination, according to the terms and provisions of this Agreement, Depositphotos shall pay compensation due to the Contributor for licenses issued to Purchasers during the transitional period in accordance with all the rights stated in this Agreement or required by law.

From what I think, is that, after 30 days, they can't even have images of an account terminated... Can't we do anything by legal means?  ???
