Just for laughs, I went to check my screenname on the various sites and didn't find anything, but when I put in my last name ("Pappas"), I found a bunch of images of clouds (among other things). IS, SS, DT, FT, 123, and BigStock had images with the word "Pappas". Out of all of the sites that I checked, the only site that didn't have any images with "Pappas" in the keywords was StockXpert.
Can someone tell me what the word "Pappas" has to do with clouds?
I doubt that they copied my keywords, since I don't put my name in the keywords and I don't have any cloud shots.

I have also just received a PayPal payment from StockXpert that I submitted on 12/07

At LO, I've made almost 5x's as much in 16 months.
I'm sure that being an LO reviewer has nothing to do with that.

At this point, I wouldn't submit anything to them.
First, members can get free credits easily. For example, members get 3 free credits every week. Images "purchased" with those credits earn the contributor nothing. So, in other words, people can have your images for free if they simply join.
Second, if you delete an image, then you lose 5 credits.
Third, all images are 1 euro, and you only get 60% of that. So a 16 or 20 MP image will get you the same royalty as a 2 MP image.
Finally, the image on the homepage has a woman picking her nose. I'm not sure about others, but that alone was a huge turn off.
Sorry, but I don't feel like supporting another site that seems to be in a race to the bottom.

Customer Base
I know that this will probably receive a lot of disagreement, but I believe that the whole "customer base" issue is, for the most part, an unsound rumor. People claim that some of their images sell like hotcakes on one site, while they sit idle on other sites and they chalk it up to a different "customer base". I don't believe that sites have different types of customers at all, but rather would put forth that they have very similar if not the same customer base. The reason that some images sell on one site and not on another all comes down to placement in the Best Match algorithm. That is what will make an image or break an image.
But there are some small differences between the sites. For example, SS probably has more corporate customers than most (since most individuals can't afford to purchase a subscription). Fotolia probably has more European customers than most, but the U.S. is still the predominant buyer for almost all of the sites.
Personalities
The only thing that I can say in this regard is that some sites reject certain types of images.
For example, IS doesn't like to take images that are "cooked", but would rather have a "raw" image. What I mean is that they rarely take an image that is obviously edited, such as a photo montage. They also don't accept fractals and many other types of computer generated images.
SS is known for rejecting noisy images.
Other than that, it all depends on who you get as a reviewer.

One common problem with computers is heat. If I remember correctly, you are in the Southern Hemisphere which means that Summer is approaching. You might want to try running the computer with the case open, or with a fan blowing on it and see if that helps. If it does, then you have a heat problem. You can usually solve this sort of problem by adding extra fans inside the case. Another common issue is dust buildup (especially if the computer is older). Dust buildup can be resolved with a vacuum. Just be careful with the vacuum wand.
Let me know if that helps.

Some lone gunman polluting the keywords shouldn't be the basis for an uprising..
I don't think that the problem is with one person polluting the keywords, but the fact that StockXpert still hasn't done anything about this in over two months. Many other people on this board have reported getting images rejected for borderline keyword problems, but here is an obvious case of spamming and nothing is being done. What type of message does that give to the rest of us?

I am happy to see IS take the lead on pricing. Hopefully, the other agencies will follow suit within the next few months.

Image Quality is
25% camera 75% lens
so in essence spend more on a lens
I think that it is more of 50/50. A Canon EOS 1DS Mk III takes MUCH better images than a Canon EOS 10D (because it has a better sensor). The main difference to me between camera bodies and lenses is that lenses are more permanent. Bodies come and go every few years, but lenses last much longer. So you will probably end up keeping your lenses longer than your bodies.

Canon pretty much owns the dSLR market, although Nikon has been coming on strong in the past year or so. Other brands only have a few % of market share.
For stock photography, I would think that the Canons (in general) are best, since they have the best sensor. In other words, there is less noise on Canon sensors.
For other types of photography, I love the Foveon sensor. It probably gives the most detail of any sensor I have ever seen.

Some sites also court the big players in this field. They probably offer them special royalties or other incentives to get on board.

Any rumours on possible 450D comming?
Yes. Canon 450D is supposed to be released in February along with a possible replacement for 5D.

This site appears to be a "midstock" or macro site. I searched for a few images and prices range from $10 to $340.
They only give a 20% commission (or 30% if you have over 300 images).
Also, there aren't many images in the database yet. I searched for pet, dog, and cat and received 0 results. I searched for flower and received 1,044 results. I searched for business and received 1,757 results.
To compare, DT has almost 104,000 results for flower and 183,000 results for business.
I don't feel good about supporting sites that only give a 20% commission (IS is the exception), so I will be passing on this one. Not when most other competitors are paying 50% or more.
But I'm sure there are many contributors that are waiting to join yet another site.

This wouldn't be fair for Istock. That guy found your images through Istock, Istock did all the marketing, and now you are going to make the sale without Istock? Seems wrong to me!
There are plenty of buyers that see an image on one site, and then buy it on another. It might not be fair, but it is a normal part of business. In a similar light, I'm sure that many of us go to brick-and-mortar stores to check out an item, and then purchase the item online. Advertising doesn't guarantee a sale. It just improves the odds of one.

Wow!
What a variety of answers.
I would first find out what their intent was. What sizes are they looking for? What usage are they planning? Is this for resale (on tshirts, mugs, etc)? Why don't they want to download it from IS? If they tell you it's because they don't want to buy tokens, then I would think that they weren't being completely upfront (since the smallest package of tokens is only $10).

A prime indicator of how productive a site is the ratio of downloads to uploads. A good site, for me, is one where I can achieve more downloads than uploads (i.e. DLs/ULs > 1.0).
I would agree with this, except for one thing - subscriptions. Subscriptions tend to increase downloads dramatically (because that is their nature). So I think that comparisons between all of the sites (except for SS) are alright. DT, 123, and StockXpert might be skewed a little (since they offer subscriptions), but the amount of subscription downloads will vary from one person to the next.

I see the best match has changed to 3 images per 100 now.
It looks like they went ahead and made another best match change. This is becoming a weekly event. They might have changed it to be proportional to the size of the portfolio. Anyone know? If you search on "Christmas", you will find one contributor with 11 images in the top 100.

I have already added mine.
Isn't that a conflict of interest? (Just kidding of course)

Last week was Thanksgiving in the U.S. Most businesses were closed on Thursday and Friday. Many people also take off the whole week for vacation. From here on out, I think that there will be a slowdown in sales.

Was this there before? I looked at one of my own files and it showed similars... then immediately following it showed "More images from Pixart's portfolio". It only showed my most recent, most popular would be nice still nice to see though.
I think that the "More images from..." area is new. I like it as well but would rather have it show my similar images, instead of my most recent.

I don't see this as being that big of a chance.
I guess that everyone is always optimistic about software releases, but the reality is that even the smallest change in the software code can manifest plenty of unforeseen errors.
