Well, i tried out with godaddy, and i searched internet and used this promote code

promo749 Save $3 on .com registrations, transfers and renewals

I end up paying on $7.67 instead of $11.99, the discount is $4.50 instead of $3.

After some google i realise there is a free email credits i can use, that's mean a free email account can be set up with the purchase of domain..instead of buying a email plan. The free credits is under 'my products'->'free products', where you got a 'free' email, page, photo album..

below is a link to godaddy, an affiliate link.

Just some misc comments, it seems the user interface is designed to get users to buy more and more service..and some contents favors users aren't easy to access, such as this free email accounts, if you choose 'add email', nothing about free email credits is showed, just options to buy email plan.

anyway, just to show that one just need to spend $7.67 to get a website domain!

thank you for the efforts!

553
i had registered the domain without buying any email address in godaddy.com

but i try to 'activate' the my site, it seems i need to 'add email' or 'add website or hosting' options..but all i need to pay for it.

is it possible i don't have to pay for the hosting fee? i had signed up a service that will  host my images so i don't need another hosting site.

554
i am using something like photoshelter.. do i need to pay for hosting service if i want to have my own domain?

who will in charge of email with the domain? is it hosting company or domain register company?

If you are using a hosting company, DO NOT pay for email from GoDaddy. You'll be able to set it up through your hosting company. Paying to hide your personal info does indeed mean that you cannot be traced by 'whois'.

Any other question, just ask!  ;)

Hi all,

I tried to register a domain in godaddy, and i realise that if u need email, it cause like $20 something a year, so the email isn't free?

and since i am using a website service to host my images, can i buy a domain without paying paying for another hosting service?

One has to pay more to hide personal information, does it mean not one can trace who you are by 'whois'..

556
maybe there should be a fine or something compensation if shutterstock found users misuse of the images.

557
ic..thanks all for many useful advice.

I had done some googles..and check out the go daddy too, since i saw it mentioned in many places before.

So we will need to access to a webpage so we can login and main our domain? are there some restrictions of how many email address are allowed?

i have some questions who own the domains? are those domain company owns it? definitely there is only one www.abc.com, so i wonder who own the internet?

and i saw many option like .net. org .co, are there all the same as .com? i seldom see people use other extensions..

558
hi all,

I am thinking of buying a domain, it seems like causing less than $10 a year.

But I have no much ideas about website, does it make a different to buy from different website? it is not like hosting server, that some servers seems more stable. How about email with domain address?

Selling Stock Direct / draft your own license agreement?
« on: August 30, 2011, 08:40 »
Hi all,

I try to set up a website to sell my own images with RM and RF license.

Do you give a copy of license agreement to buyer? do you have to draft your own copy?

Thank you.

Software - General / picture viewer with IPTC
« on: August 21, 2011, 05:33 »
hi all,

I wonder what kind of software you are using to browse the images and edit IPTC..

I am using just windows explorer and picasa.. but i found that the color display is incorrect, and looks dull.

Adobe bridge is good, but it is very slow.

I used to do the IPTC in irfanview, but it will remove the clipping path of jpg automatically.. so i have to stop using it.

i found the windows explorer show the image with dull color, different with what i saw in adobe bridge, lightroom.. it is inconvenient.

563
does anyone has problem of it?

when i put my mouse over the images to check the statistics, it seems the statistics is always wrong with some invalid EL downloads, sometimes it is a duplicate of OD downloads under the EL column..that's mess up the total earning of images.

New Sites - General / Re: GL stock images
« on: August 14, 2011, 11:24 »
if i have to manually type the websites i always wonder is it graphics with s or without s, or leftover with s or without s...

Looks like a great move to me...I mean who would chose to have "Leftover"?

I would disagree with that, Graphic Leftovers was a great name. I'm sure a lot of people found the name intriguing and also memorable. Initials are sometimes hard to remember, unless it's something like ML Images, although that might be a little misleading.

Crap Cleaner changed their name to CCleaner, but I still call it Crap Cleaner to this day and I'm sure their original name also played apart in their success. It's software by the way, I'm not just being vulgar.

GL Stock Images is good too but just not so unique. Still a great site though.

hey, it is my thread, click here http://graphicleftovers.com/selling/ref=mtkang/

just kidding..

anyway, i got quite a few sales at the beginning, but i think it get more competition after the GL personality start to come in..and maybe now i will have less sales, anyway, like what i say it is better to upload to them than some sites that pay 25% or less..

one of the interesting features is sometimes they will pick some new images to the GL collections..that's mean it will features in the main page as random images..good feelings.

New Sites - General / GL stock images
« on: August 13, 2011, 02:51 »
Hi all,

New website, GL stock images, is here, please get ready and sign up..

http://graphicleftovers.com/ref=mtkang/
pay you 52% of sales..

It is actually graphicleftovers.com...so finally they have to transform and focus rather just on graphic..

you can set your own price, you got 52%..selling faq here:
http://graphicleftovers.com/selling/ref=mtkang/

the more important, they do have sales..and paid 52%. While there are many new coming website that compete to pay us less and less, there is no reasons not to support a site that pay us fair.

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Photoshelter
« on: August 13, 2011, 01:49 »
have you guys check out photodeck?

I will try photoshelter maybe once my images are ready..

I am looking forward to set up a page just to sell some RM images, since there are some images are just not for microstock rf..

there are many users using ktools..it is like one time payments $250, i am not sure how easy to set it up..and i am not sure if it supports RM license well.

I want to have an options to get other contributors if i want to bigger library..i saw photoshelter had an option for multi user which is $250 per month..

and it seems photodeck also support multi user, but i am not sure how much.

« on: August 12, 2011, 20:08 »
i saw photoshelter is paid monthly, how is it different to something like ktools that you paid one time fee? i think ktools is a software that you install on your host?

how about photoshelter? if one day i decide to leave photoshelter..will i be able to 'transfer' the site to my own host?

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Here is my personal store!
« on: August 12, 2011, 19:02 »
do you need a lot of technical knowledge to set it up? wonder how difficult to set up a site using something like ktools or CMS..

573
oic..so it is only honest people will pay for extended license.. thank them!

Apart from the microstock sites monitoring any image use you have little chance to do so yourself. Even if you find a violation you have next to no chance to collect. And you must by now understand that many of your items will be stolen and used without anyone's knowledge. It's a wild, lawless world out there on the web so most of us simply accept that fact.

General Stock Discussion / RF license usage, how to monitor?
« on: August 12, 2011, 12:02 »
Hi all,

I always have a questions, as RF license can be used for multiple times in general, and sold many times, so it is difficult to track.

So how we know a buyer will buy 'on demand' or 'extend license' instead of the normal subscriptions or downloads? are all these transactions  are based on the honesty of buyers?

Is there a way to get compensations when if some buyers didn't buy extended license?

i am from malaysia too, what is this airbnb..got to read the website. where is the link about the job?

Hey Airbnb is growing and looking for more photographers , if you are keen, please PM me

To refer a photographer, please send the following information:

The photographer's name
E-mail address
Location
Portfolio link
Camera specs

I can refer you to airbnb and the rest is up to airbnb to decide.

This is how it works for me in kuala lumpur. jobs are usually done when listings assignment a posted on website. you'll accept it , arrange with host for photography, upload and get paid. so time is flexible.

Thanks!
