Symbiostock - Hosting / Re: Where can I host my Symbiostock site?
« on: December 16, 2013, 08:48 »
I'm about to set up a Synology disk station for backup and storage. The unit also has website hosting capabilities, so I want to know if this would be Symbio compatible?

See here for information on how it works:http://www.synology.com/en-global/support/tutorials/480

Thanks

I can't believe you all are uploading manually.. why aren't people using stocksubmitter?

Does using Stocksubmitter mean you don't need to put in categories? I use Stockuploader but still have to manually input the categories for each site, and therefore still have to go to the page in question on DT.

You still need to fill in categories but you can do it for 50 images all at once (providing they are all in the same categories). .. the same for model releases.  When submitting to several sites it is nice to have to only attach the releases once.  Then, when it uploads to the agencies you don't even have to visit the sites.. it automatically submits with categories, releases and all.

OK thanks - I will take a further look at it.

Vector uploads:

Did a test, zipped EPS & JPG and uploaded. File arrived OK but no keywords/titles/description extracted. I have about 800 files to upload and, unless this changes, I shan't be uploading them. I simply haven't the time to add all this information to each individual file.

Great news!

Time to get uploading.....

GL Stock pay a fair rate but sell images individually. If you want a subscription, go to Shutterstock - the contributor doesn't get paid much for subscription sales, but most would agree that they make more money there than elsewhere, due to the higher volume of sales.

I'm pushing, screaming, kicking. Vectors are just around the corner... :)

Thanks for the update Zager. I don't want to be uploading/paid through two different sites, so I'm holding out for vector upload via Pond5

All the 'Upload Status' emails I am getting are just blank? Anyone else having this problem?

I meant that the request was posted for Pond5 to respond, but it is very kind of you to try and find an answer for me.

Thank you Luissantos84 - I missed that!

Another request though - having spent the morning uploading, I think it's a pain to have to keep changing the price from 1. Is there any way to set a user default price?

Thanks

looked once more all around and I believe there isn't, just sent them an email, will keep you posted

Luissantos84 - there request was actually for Pond5, but I really do appreciate you taking the trouble to look around and send an email. Thanks!

I want to be able to see a running total of images in my portfolio, without having to navigate to the last page of online uploads to work it out. Am I missing something?

1. Allow the ability to set a price for EACH SIZE, not just a top price and let the algorithm do the rest. (e.g: using the current system, some of my tiny blog sizes are going for $10+, allowing us to set a price for each size setting would eliminate that problem)

+1 to that. I'd be happy to set the blog size cheap but the only way to do that is to set the mega high price cheap too.

are those dl numbers right? a quick search across a few popular topics reveals that the top sellers have DLs in the single digits, and those top sellers have rock bottom prices. sadly even the contributors are racing themselves to the bottom.

+1. It is crazy that there is no control. Setting the top price means that bigger images end up too cheap on the smaller sizes and small images end up more expensive.

Thanks for the input from you all. I will look at some of the ones you have suggested and give some a go. Anything that cuts down on post-process time has got to be worth a few $$$s - I just don't want to spend lots on something that is not very useful, but some of the Nicolesy ones are very reasonably priced, and certainly worth a try.

593
Thanks, I'll take a look

594
Thanks Sean, that is certainly food for thought. I have created some actions for myself, for this things I use regularly, but must say that I liked the idea of getting some retro effects, lighting effects, etc. just at the click of a button.

I will think further before buying and, hopefully, someone will come along with some further insights.

595
I've been wondering about buying some actions/presets to add into Photoshop (CS6) and/or Lightroom, but I'm not sure what to get. I looked at the MCP actions and Florabella Collections and can't make up my mind which, if any, I should buy.

They all look great on the examples shown, but are they simple 'one-click' adjustments, or will it be just as quick for me to process using Color FX or various adjustments in PS? Does anyone know if they introduce noise? I have noticed that some of the Color FX options introduce unacceptable amounts.

If anyone has experience with these actions, or can recommend any others, I would be really glad if you would share your thoughts on them.

Thank you all for the news. Just opted out of all Partner Programs there...

Where did you find the option to opt out?  I've been searching but can't seem to find it.

Go to 'Upload Images' and then on the menu on LHS, just click on the 'Upload' option above 'Upload Images'. This takes you to the Upload homepage where you can tick to opt-out of Partner sales

FAA specifically ask you not to upsize images. See instructions on upload page for their image criteria.

After going back to the upload page and the selecting "FTP settings / Check Upload FTP Results", I get a page that allows me to "process" the files that I uploaded via the web uploader.

That's what I'm trying to do but it doesn't work for me :(
