Quote I'm in the middle of a teeth grindingly awful bout of having to do my accounts at the moment, its Friday and I'm probably not paying attention like I should. Anyway, that's a terrible state you are picturing above (even when it's irony), so I'll put an end to our refreshing chat now and put you out of your misery. ![]() 603

Or just read last months thread on the subject. Quote I'm not in the upper 50 contributors but I would assume the same rules apply to them as well as us in regards to weekly and overall ranking. Why wouldn't it? What I meant to say was that up there the "fight" is probably more tight than down here. 604
Adobe Stock / Re: weekly and owerall rank« on: August 14, 2015, 03:41 »Or just read last months thread on the subject. I did and I agree with you in that more clients can share a rank . The numbers there are interesting info but out of that, nothing conclusive there as long as we don't know details about each case like how regularly do they upload, port size, ...... I'm not talking about the upper 50 contributors like you. I just shared my own observations on my own port, if you don't mind. Overall: 11,700 yesterday 11,650 today (I just uploaded) Weekly: 4,900 down from 3,000 since a month and half. 605
Adobe Stock / Re: weekly and owerall rank« on: August 14, 2015, 02:39 »
Just, please don't put it on the table.
![]() I think, what madman wanted to know is: what is this ranking good for? It mirrors your performance compared to others, as Steveball said. When you are new, your overall rank is small (big number). As you upload more images, almost each time, your overall rank grows (number decreases). There may be some other factor (sales) taken in consideration here. Weekly rank is very "jumpy", when you sell more, weekly rank increases, sell less, it decreases (bigger number). At least, this is my observation throughout. 606

This person is using our PhotoStore product to run a site that seems to be hosting photos that are infringing on copyrights of others. @ dolgachov,
Well done, though no agency would do such a thing anyway, it is in all TOS that buyers are not allowed to contact photographers. Now let's grow up! You say they were acting 2 month ago, domain created on 2015-06-30 but they could have been using another domain name before. How come nobody took any action till now? I'm somehow confused here; do you want to defend your work and copyright or you want to solve your problems by being the advocate of threatened buyers? I still don't understand how do these people find you if you sell only by stock agencies (as per your web page). You have nothing to fear if you didn't do anything wrong. Threatening, in itself and asking for money is neither a crime nor fraud. At most it can be is cyberextortion. Normal police doesn't investigate cyber crime. Prosecution investigates fraud if there is any solid evidence of fraud. I don't understand those papers bagnaz adam posted and can't find any other tread either. So did someone come up with evidence of fraud or just with threatening? If yes, he will take some mild fine in a year or two, maybe. In the meantime he will get even richer from stealing and you will lose your shirt on lawsuits, no matter how big boys you are. There are countless examples of such things on the web. Internet crime is not taken seriously enough by authorities. You have to do something to take that site down. Just saying. 610

ktools.net is selling a software - Photostore http://www.ktools.net/photostore/online-demo
Click on the "Public site Demo" on this page and you will see the same page layout as at Resinstock with a few items missing from the menu. See the "Featured" tab and you will see the same subtabs in the dropdown at both sites. This is a harder nut than I thought, hard to imagine that anyone will hurt these guys' clients but you should try to bring to their attention that their product is misused. Just a humble advice, if I may; try to shorten URL and post screenshots where possible. We've made a lot of free advertising for these guys already. As you know, negative advertisement is more precious as the positive one, these days. 611
Shutterstock.com / Re: So...when was your last day without a single sale?« on: August 09, 2015, 03:54 »
In July I had a 0 day each week, usually Saturday. This month the last 0 day was on the first day of the month, also a Saturday but I have many 1 sub days which is almost the same.
Sales this month on SS (for me) are equal to 123, BS, DT but only the half of FT earnings. Sad! 612
General Stock Discussion / Re: Resimstock - Turkish site stealing images and selling with EL?« on: August 08, 2015, 14:36 »@Dodie:Is this your image: https://goo.gl/UUnTuC I found 36 copies of it, some are legit, others have all kind of watermarks on it. I don't want to discourage you but there is no way to stop thieves. I made this for a long time (as I said before); a website designer company mirrored all my blogs on many of their clients' sites, ripping off content with automated software. All sites had the same content (mine) and look, they didn't even bother to vary their free WP template. Though I had a high % of success with removals at prestigious web hosts, I always found another site doing the same thing. At the end I was so tired that I abandoned the blogs, haven't posted anything new for years (still paying for domain). It was than that I discovered stock. "There's always something new to fall in love with". Don't beat yourself up, it is not worth it. Much luck! 613
General Stock Discussion / Re: Resimstock - Turkish site stealing images and selling with EL?« on: August 08, 2015, 03:43 »I just sent an email to them asking to remove my images. Let's see how they react... I don't think they will be very impressed. Why don't you file a DMCA complaint to their web host? You must be sure fist that it is not a stock partner. This site (I don't want to promote its name) is hosted by softlayer.com, host with a questionable reputation. http://www.softlayer.com/dmca http://blog.softlayer.com/2012/tips-from-the-abuse-department-part-1-reporting-abuse http://blog.softlayer.com/2013/tips-from-the-abuse-department-dmca-takedown-notices You can use a DMCA copyright infringement form from G00gle as a model. Only the web hosting service has the power to take down a site if the owner doesn't react to your email. I don't know if they will take any action but it is a necessary step before you file a DMCA complaint to G00gle. They will contact the host and if you are lucky, they will at least, take down the site from G search. I did this, with success, many times for images stolen from my blogs. Unfortunately, these thieves will just create another site with the same content. 614

chuckcars,
A handful of embittered contributors are determined to push everyone different out of this forum, just ignore them. Don't you people ever get tired of patronizing newbies? Everybody started somewhere. If I could find other avenues for my work I would follow them and never look back to micro. Than again, micro doesn't bring the bread on my table. Apparently those other avenues make some people so very bitter that they have to take it out on someone, why not on newbies. They should climb down from their illusory pedestal and face the reality of present days not history. Newbies will learn only by practicing and observing, not from the useless advices and trolling most (and I said most, not all) of the auto-entitled pros are offering in here. The history of microstock is the same as the history of the entire economy worldwide, there is nothing new to learn about it. 617
Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia takes Description field if Title field is blank in your IPTC data« on: July 25, 2015, 11:24 »
Thank you wds. I didn't know about this trick.
http://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/expanded-titledescription-for-fotolia-submissions/ SS uses the description as alt text. DT uses the title as alt text and the description (partially) in the URL 123 uses the description in both alt text and URL. FT uses the title as alt text (which is usually short) and no words, just numbers in the URL. That must be the reason that FT recently expanded the title length to 200 characters, so we can provide more info about the image. This is true horror. What are you going to do about it? The problem is that we have to edit the title of our images differently just for FT if we want them to be found. Alt text and URL are the search engines' eyes, that's how they determine the content of the image, as you well know. 618

I am still trying to sort thing out. My images are indexed in US English and on US FT site the keywords are correct. If some of you have the same experience or have some advice, it would be helpful to share. We don't see the same English FT page all over the world.
There is a: 1. https://us.fotolia.com 2. https://en.fotolia.com 3. https://eu.fotolia.com - and the main domain that I can see on Google search but when I click on it I get redirected. The first three are all in English yet showing different keywords. When I first mentioned that keyword are being changed by the system, everybody thought that I'm crazy. Now that someone is complaining about spamming, I can show you how some of it is done by the system. Mat offered his help to find out why is this done. I'm still waiting for the answer but in the meantime have a look at these screenshots to see some examples of where a part of the spam comes from. This is called translation (apparently English to English) by FT support. There is only one English on SS and other agencies. Adobe stock shows the https://en.fotolia.com & https://eu.fotolia.com version. Did you know about this? I don't even mention pages translated to other languages which are a mess. It seams that you have to be logged in to see the images. |
