I had the payment by paypal, I Reached the money on May 30 but change the minimum payout on june.

If you changed your minimum payment this month, then your payment will probably go out next month.  But you should confirm this with SS support.

Also, they might have suspended your account to prevent you from uploading any new files or selling old ones (since you are now exclusive with IS).

I'm not sure that exclusivity is what an agency wants to focus on, since an agency receives a higher cut for non-exclusives.  For example, IS receives 80% for non-exclusives, but 60% - 75% for exclusives.

Microstock News / Re: ShutterStock press pass
« on: June 04, 2007, 19:30 »
FYI: Any photos taken using this new Press Pass system needs to be exclusive with SS.

Well if it's the price to pay to have access to places where you're not allowed without a press pass, I'll pay that price. ;)

Remember, ShutterStock doesn't require you to be exclusive, only those shots!

I also don't have any problem with this.  Since they are getting a person access to an event, then they deserve to have exclusive use of the images.

I just wanted to point it out and make sure that people understood one of the caveats.

wow! congrats.

Congratulations on the milestone, George!

Thanks to both of you.

Congrats - such a simple image too.

Yes, I am very surprised how well this image has done.  I actually uploaded it on a whim.  It just goes to show you that you never know what will sell well.

How are the other colours going?

They are doing quite well, but the light blue seems to be the most popular.

To be competitive off the bat, I'd have to assume Corbis has tapped their existing contributors to supply seed images. Plus, this might be a way to keep the peace with their existing photogs -- to give them first dibs in this "new" and "non-competing" market.

If that was true, I'm sure someone would have heard about it.  I would think that it would be hard to keep something like that a secret.  But what do I know???

Thanks for the laugh...

A friend gave me the image in this tutorial...

Hey Miz:

You mean that you actually have some friends :)

Sorry, I couldn't resist...

I took a photo of a flower and tried uploading it on all of the sites.  Surprisingly, it was accepted on all of the sites, but has only had a few sales.

Here is the image if you are interested:

Well, I think I'm bronze so no change for me.

Credits now cost $1.36, so you will receive an increase in royalties.

That site sells for $6.95 per image, so that would be a approx 37% if yingyang's sale was the normal rate.

When I go to the site, I see different prices that vary according to the size of the image.  They range from $6.95 for a small to $29.95 for a supersize.

I only know about this one:

I thought that they eliminated all of the third party sites.

How much royalty do we receive on sales of those images?

I have only done a few panoramas, so I am not an expert.

But I would think that you try to set up your DOF to the max.  If that isn't enough, then I would think that you should focus on each shot (where it is required).

Miz:

In time, I read all of your tutorials.  I really appreciate that you post them.

I just think that there isn't much to comment on, since it is well done and it is not controversial.

All one can really say is Woo-Yah.

Keep up the good work.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Looking for a Good Point & Shoot
« on: May 21, 2007, 11:21 »
I have only been able to find about a dozen digital cameras with a 1/1.8" - 1/1.6" sensor.  I eliminated some of them because they did not include IS (image stabilization) which I deem critical for using indoors under low light.  It seems that there are only a few non-DSLR cameras that offer a sensor that is significantly larger than 1/1.8".  But they are extremely expensive (> $1000).

So (at this point) I have settled on buying a camera with a 1/1.8" sensor.  I am currently looking at the Canon Powershot G7.  It has IS and the reviews seem very good.

Sounds like you want a Fujifilm F31

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely take a look at it.  The Fujifilm Finepix F31fd does have a large sensor (at 1/1.7") and it does come Highly Recommended by dpreview.com, but unfortunately it does not have IS (which I believe is a must-have for a P&S camera).

Cameras / Lenses / Looking for a Good Point & Shoot
« on: May 20, 2007, 16:57 »
My wife is looking for a camera that she can carry in her pocketbook.

We already own a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5 (5 MP, 12x optical zoom, IS), but the camera is a little bulky (because of the large zoom range).

So now we are looking for a camera that is thinner.  But I also would like a camera that takes quality images.

Are there any P&S (point & shoot) cameras that use a larger sensor than the normal 1/1.8" or 1/2.5" sensors?  I am hoping to find a P&S camera that uses a large sensor that can give quality images.  Hopefully a sensor that is more along the lines of a low-end DSLR (e.g., an APS-C size sensor).

« on: May 20, 2007, 10:21 »
I just checked my portfolio and I found more images that were given very low ratings.  It looks like someone gave me a 5 or 6 on one image and a 1 on another.

One of my most popular images was hit:

http://www.stockxpert.com/browse.phtml?f=view&id=116965

As well as two other images that sell well on most sites:

http://www.stockxpert.com/browse.phtml?f=view&id=187446

http://www.stockxpert.com/browse.phtml?f=view&id=644092

PLEASE DON'T RATE IMAGES LESS THAN A 10.  IT CAN AFFECT SALES.  IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE IMAGE, THEN JUST MOVE ON.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, THEN DO IT THROUGH SITEMAIL OR EMAIL.

/sigh/

... looks like the nefarious 9/10 critic is continuing to make the rounds.

Yes, I was also hit with a 9 as well.  Pretty rude if you ask me, especially if they are a member of this forum.
