General Stock Discussion / Re: Submitting to Getty Images

Btw which are these distributors that sell in getty, corbis and all? And how does one get in touch with them?

Well. I can see you have 400 images on iStock after 3 years and 50 images on Shutterstock. Most of them look like random snap shots (no offense, I do a lot of those as well - but I know that those belong into microstock and not on premium sites). There is no point in asking this question at this point. Distributors will look for people who are able to provide a certain volume of images that warrant a premium price on a regular basis.
Thanks for the honest feedback. I'd love to learn more about how to get my shots to the level that they are sought after by these distributors

Sounds like a great idea to make a  version that'll work after development is stopped. Where do we head to donate?

I've had sales on DT with no keyword searched. I assume that they just randomly browsed images and got one they liked.

But then again DT hasn't really been a high earner for me. With almost 150 images up there I'm only at about 16$ in earning.

Well i guess the mantle will need to be passed. It's an amazing software for people who are just dabbling in Stock

From the earnings you people have shared it seems that i have a lot to learn. Have about 400 images on istock and get a payout every 4 months or so. SS has been a new start, just hit 50 images there and got my first payout

I'm pretty new in this game, barely  a year under my belt. But its been good fun so far. Getting that first sale, getting a first payout, getting a few days of continuous sales, goosebump raising stuff i tell you

I shoot travel, urban, what you call LCV. Its not exactly been showering me with money but i get a payout every couple of months, which seems like a good place to start

Congratulations 60D

No reply here from corbis, offset politely refused and told me to sell in shutterstock.

The only difference is that 500px is still building a user base. Getty has one that is quite old and might not like the change in the system.

Plus the simple pricing structure should not harm the contributors.

685
Sorry about the title (can't find a way to change it now...  Mods help me). Even i misunderstood the mail thinking that they would remove size based pricing. Never knew that a premium and normal tier existed for RF

686
As always the question is...  Good for us or bad for us?

General Macrostock / Getty removes size based RF pricing

In their latest mail they've highlighted that they are removing the tier based pricing to improve "ease of use"

Verbatim

Simplified RF Pricing
We made significant strides last year toward simplifying buying for our customers and the effort continues. New, single tier RF pricing takes effect this week,  further reducing complexity for customers licensing RF video and stills content ongettyimages.com.

Seems Getty is going the istock way after all

General Stock Discussion / Re: sale or no sale at 500PX?

I said mine have been landscapes, travel, artsy stuff.
Sorry missed that. Cool do it seems mainly the non stock type images. Especially not the isolated on white types

Impressive... So 500px has finally started bringing in sales.

692
Yup..   Very niche category...  Thats why they are looking for only 3 people for this. But its amazing that they are willing to tap into the instagram community for this

Tried to get into corbis based on your post. 3 days, no reply, maybe they did not like my portfolio

I think you should try a reshoot. You live in a place that most of us seem to have no experience with. So capture things like local festivals (or objects related to them), local people doing everyday things (get friends and family to pose for you and get a model release), local landmarks etc.

Photos that sell are photos that others can use, perhaps a site outlining a trip to your city, maybe a blog covering great places to visit, maybe just an ad agency wanting to build a local advertising campaign. Think what they would want, how they can use the image you are making.

Go to SS, iS and all the rest, search about your county and what people have already put up. Learn from that and fill in the gaps. Head to the most popular sections, see if you can build something there. Read read read about stock, about cameras, about the market, about photography etc

Getty takes a long time to review files...   My normal submissions take about 2-3 weeks to review...  Plus the uploading process is very cumbersome

Guys who are making money there...  Some tips and tricks please
