Is it worth uploading there?

I'll upload and tag only if I have nothing else to do.

Dissolve is legit and solid for a newcomer.  It already is my #3 earner after P5 and SS.  They are upgrading contributor interface on the website so that we can manually change the setting of the clips.  Only complain is that you won't know what, when and how many clips you sold till they send you a monthly report.  We as contributors want know as soon as a clip is sold.  Yes, 30% sucks especially when you read the monthly report that the total sales is 3 times more than you earned from your own clips.

Uploading process is smooth.  Tagging is easy too.  I heard Motionelements sales are better than Revostock.  I hope it's true.

How about deactivating entire iStock portfolio, and re uploading everything, as well as the new files in 720p resolution only. This way your full HD content elsewhere does not get undercut by iStock pricing.

What do you think?

I have checked with iStock, there is no way of deactivating only full HD and leaving the file with lower resolutions online. You have to deactivate the file itself, and than re upload it in lower resolution.

Forget about iStock.  I hope they'll close the store in a year or two.  Too disrespectful to us creators.  Bye bye iStock!

681
We'll decide which stock video/photo hosting site will survive, not them.

682
Come on People, without our contents, they are nothing, just an empty website.  We'll unite and fight!

I dropped FT because of their poor sales amounts. I was getting a $1.50 for some HD sales. No thanks. Worse than iStock if you can imagine.

I had dropped them also for .21 subs the lowest around.

What % do you get from the $36?

I am getting ready to dive into making animations and I will only upload to places that pay a high % or reasonable with good volume, a lot of work goes into making them.

I feel  Istocks new program for vids as an indi not enough royalty and vids as an exclusive thier $$ are quite high priced, could be good but not sure they will have the sales.

No, $36 is the commission you get from 75 credit sales price of 1080P video.  It's way higher than $20-23 you get from Shutterstock.

684
Fotolia pays well for video??

My Very Best :)
KimsCreativeHub.com

Yes, they do.  They pay you 24 credits for 1080p video sales.  24 credits are about $36.  So, they pay more than Shutterstock on regular video sales!

685
i just started uploading to pond5 and ss. only IS requires Photojpeg and i don't like dealing with those large files.

why is IS so bad for video?

They pay us almost nothing!!  That's bad.

Pond5, SS and Fotolia is where I sell my video clips.

686
I think iStock will be the new home of POS amateur home video clips because anybody who pride in their work will deactivate (delete) their video clips from there.

687
Reasonable stock video creator won't sell for that cheap and disrespectful rate there.  It simply is bad for our business.  So, bye bye iStock.  I won't miss you.

688
I decided to deactivate my small video portfolio at IS, you get much better sales volume and royalty at P5 and SS. 15% is ridiculously low and my clips getting no views or sales there anyway!

Me too.  Deleted all the video clips.  Ridiculous commission that's really insulting and bad for our business.

689
This is exactly how i read it. Simply frustrating. Im running out of agencies to dump.

This new iStock pricing for video is plain disgusting for contributors.  Newcomer non exclusive contributor will get average of only $10 for a sale of 1080P full HD video clip.  That's equivalent of pricing your video clip at $20 on Pond5.  Only some junk home video quality contributor will price their video clip that low on pond5.

690
I just deactivated all my video clips after reading this on iStockvideo forum.
It's ridiculously low royalty and I can't afford to let somebody sell my stuff for cheap and give us little money like this.

"As officially posted elsewhere, credits under the new system will be $8 - $15 each, depending on the amount purchased.

So, assuming this new (and much anticipated) information is accurate, we can assume that "essential" videos will cost $48 - $90 each, with our royalties being:

15% = $7.20 - $13.50
16% = $7.68 - $14.40
17% = $8.16 - $15.30
18% = $8.64 - $16.20
19% = $9.12 - $17.10
20% = $9.60 - $18.00 (but really, who actually can reach 20%?)

If the above is correct (please correct me if I'm wrong), that's quite a drop in commissions here for us, unless something else is changing that we don't know about.

I think just to "wait and see" is the right answer at this point.  No need to run to the exit because my portfolio there is very small now.  They should make it easier and faster to upload if they want more content.
I've never found it difficult to upload there.
Many people (not me) love DeepMeta for uploading, so you could give that a try if you haven't already.

I don't know what it is.  I've been uploading one at a time and tagging one at a time too.

I'm not sure what I should do with iStock at this point.  I have a very small portfolio there now, but thinking if it's worth it to add more especially with their slow uploading process and the price change.

695
I just opted out from video clip sub sales here.

I opted out from here.

Just de-select the video clip sub sales.

I hope it works.

FOTOLIA's subscription video sale is ridiculous 85% discount on M size video sale!!

This nonsense got to stop now or I'll delete my entire video collection there.  This is a plain insult!!

YOU'RE the reason idiotic agencies like Fotolia thrive and get away with
their tactics. You later stated: "I'll give Fotolia some time to fix this nonsense." WHY?! Do you really think your whinning is going to pull the Fotolia Pirate Ship around? PULL NOW. Everybody! Don't support an agency that doesn't fairly support its contributors. Period.

Fotolia has been pretty good.  I changed the setting to not allow sub sales on video clips now.   Let's see what happens.

Beats me why not just delete your portfolio?  Why put up with this plain insult?

You will feel better when your work is no longer devalued by those who don't care about you or your work :)

I'll give Fotolia some time to fix this nonsense.  Everybody makes mistakes and learn from it, hopefully.

Is the title of this thread correct, i.e. SS?

This is about FOTOLIA.  They got to stop it now.

Fair enough, but the thread title says Shutterstock.

To compare with common sense rate.
