I love this forum realy but i ever ask me... why you dont load up to normal agencies ... there you get 18-60 euros per download... perhaps there are only in germany .. i dont now... but ask me.. i will help you with the keywords... exampel: panthermedia.de or digitalstock.de or adpic.de you can earn their monthly about 150 euros i do

Hi Xenia, I am on Panthermedia.de, ist this the best German Stockphoto site or is Digitalstock or adpic.de better?

Panthermedia for me is from the income in average now like Stockxpert I would say, but you never know how many sales. Sometimes none for two month, than a 45 Euro dl then none again. In January I had 5 sales in a row, which was exciting, but then the dls stopped again. Panthermedia might work to make there site more international, hopefully they will have an their site in English soon...

« on: February 06, 2007, 08:45 »
Yeah that was fun. One one day I had 15dls, while it was in the top fifty as I remember. That was probably the reason why. If you get there you'll get an additional little boost for a short time.

« on: February 06, 2007, 08:42 »
I like the first image. It s an interesting image. But I do not know how to create realisitc cracks. I just did one with a few small cracks which was accepted at DT. But they were tiny in comparision to your huge crack.
I think you somehow can try to give it depth by creating a wall (I do not know a better englisch word to describe it) on the one side of the crack which more and more dimms the deeper it goes. On the other side let it be black as ist it with shades which also dimms the more closer it gets to the side with the wall. It might be some work. But that seems to be an image which might make some money.  I do not know how to better describe it. Maybe it helps.

It is not impossible in my opinion. I am currently working on some pics. It depends how much detail you image has. For example I would never try to fix an human face with hairs.
But there is no fast way. It is a lot of work. Depending on the image it can take hours.  I tried it on one image wich I interpolated about to 4times the original size. Then I started to sharpen the edges with various tools, which worked well. After about two hours the Computer crashed and my work was totally gone. However, I experienced it was makeable.  (I only worked on it so long, because I thought it would bring in good money..and was curious)
The next image I worked on was a moon at night which I took a photo of with a D60 @300mm. Still the moon was much to small. I cropped the moon, and interpolated it 8-10 times the original size. I sharpened the shape of the moon (Of course not with the sharpening tool!) and did some fixing of the moons surface and the sky, then downsized it to approximately 8Mp and uploaded it.
Lets see if it will get accepted :-)
DT might be too picky, because its only a moon, and they have many moons. (At DT you never know..) But SS probably would accept it. I will upload it there in the next days too (It is completely noisefree :)).

In addtition I photoshopped a comet out of a moon, in the beginning it was an accident, which then inspired me to do the comet. So the moon-comet is also like 5-6 times the original size and I am quite confident  they wont reject that image because of lack of focus.

So for a general detailed image it is much too timeconsuming. It might take several hours up to days if you really want to sharpen a detailed image. (Which is usually not worth the effort.)

I was with one image a few times in the top Fifty. In the avergage it had at that time approximately 6 - 8dls per day a week long until it showed up in the top fifty. So that means you need between 30-40 dls in a week.

Off Topic / Buying images to sell them
« on: February 03, 2007, 05:35 »
If you buy an exclusive license of a photo and than sell it again, what would you think of that. can you do it, or ist it morally wrong?
I just discovered one image on fotolia which has already 38 dls and the exclusive license is only 100$. Its just a thought..
Maybe one should just contact the Photographer to increase his price.

Does anyone got some dls of their neglected images? I got one, but I do not know if that was because of the rating or the lightbox.

« on: January 30, 2007, 03:45 »
Thanks again, and thanks for the nice list Eco!! I looked at the price for the 50mm.
I found one for 83 Euro!!
So the 50mm/1.8 has an excellent quality, sharpness and so on?
I guess I have to speak to my wife :)

Cameras / Lenses / Which Lens
« on: January 29, 2007, 12:36 »
Maybe someone has an advice. I am considering to buy a new lens for my Canon Eos D60 in the near future ( depends on the image sales) What do you consider the best lens to get, if you want good quality for a good price, lets say arround 400 uro.
I do not care so much if it is a 50mm, or 28-80 or 100-300. Right now I would prefer a lens where I know that I will have a good focus/good quality pictures.
The thing is, I have a tamron lens with a range from 28-300. Its a nice range, but the quality is lacking.
Any advice?

Thanks Leaf! And Epixx for giving me the idea.
I might do this. But it is really timeconsuming. And I guess I would only send them 20 of my best images.. So I do not know if it is really worth the effort..

« on: January 29, 2007, 08:13 »
I have a question about submitting to Alamy.
1. Are they very picky? More picy the SS in the first submission of 10 images?
2. As I understand I should save the file in jpg, and send them the images in jpg, but they should have an uncompressed filesize of at least 48MB. Is that right?
3. Do they require Keywording and description?
4. Do they put the 10 images online, if you get accepted?

Thankyou!

I have allmost no ELs in the last months. That is unusual for me at fotolia. Up to like three months ago I had allways a few a month. That stopped for whatever reason. And that despite more images.
So my earnigs hit a peak like three month ago and went down to half the earnings of that peak month and stayed there.

I would think the best system would be, if only the admins and the reviewers can rate images. And that they should not rate images only fives, but 1-5 and 3 is neutral like an image which never has been rated. According to that they should also show up in the best match search.
And every reviewer should do a rating after he reviewed the image.

Hi Admart,

I picked two of them, because the last one has still over a week to go before it is older than a month. Thats what we decided on, when images should be considered neglected.. I will try to remember and add it in 10 days or so..

Does anyone knows how much views you have to have to get a rank in the most popular lightboxes? I though that might be possible, because so many people are looking at it. Currently we have 377 views and 67 files :-)

Great idea, to start that on other sites as well! Maybe Leaf can put the Forgotten/neglected Images on a special link, so we can have fast access to it and people will look at them :)

FYI: An Olympus Ultrazoom was my first digital camera.  I loved it.  It was a great point-and-shoot camera.  I took it everywhere.  It was one of the main reasons that I bought a digital SLR (to replace my film SLR) in the first place.

My first Digital Kamera was an Ultrazoom too, the Olympus 720UZ. All the penguin Photos are shot with it. It had 3MP. (I just replaced skys and put a little more snow in the picture, thats why some of my pics have so much MPs) Now I have a D60. Which is certainly better. But the UZ was quite good for the price and size.

They are all in, feel free to rate them :) If everyone who contributes images rates other images of the lightbox he/she thinks they are worthy to be rated 5, it will be good for everyone.
Currently there are 50 images in the lightbox.
 Good night!
