taxation is usually done when you reach a certain threshold say $30,000 a year. So I don't understand why they can just tax us like that. Sigh

I'm pretty happy with mine. The features are pretty much what I wanted from a bird photography point of view.

Here's a shot at ISO1600 with some cropping (maybe about 10-20% cropped off). NR done on the background, but not on the bird.

Cheers,
PTLee

wow that is a lovely shot i must say.  ;D

I did not get my money and they send me a form W8BEN tax form. My country is not a treaty country so i thgt i did not have to fill in the form. Does this mean that if I don't fill the form, I wont ever get my money from Shutterstock??? Sigh... ???

That is cool. I will bear that in mind. Which is a good bank to do that? Are there any charges?

Can foreigners apply for the account? I am wondering if I should apply for a US$ account one day if i go to US and then transfer the money into that account and use that account rather than convert to my currency since the exchange rate is so bad.

I get my iStock payments loaded into a Payooner card.
So far it is working fine, never had a problem.

About the fees those are the info got from their website (I  think are specifically relared to the contract iStock have in place with them):

Cheers,

Antonio

I have to pay monthly fees for not using the card? I don't have to pay anything to Paypal for just letting the money sit in there. Do I get any interest for having my money on Payoneer? What if I loose the card? Can someone take my money?

What is a good free IPTC software? I am currently using Irfanview but it is for non-Mac users. So just wondering what the rest of the people are using if I want to switch, which would be a better one to switch to. Any reasons for using the particular software for your IPTC? Pls tell me the good, the bad and the ugly. Thanks!

I am from Singapore and I use Paypal and I think the charges are high too. It is just slightly better than banking a US$ cheque into the bank. The exchange rate is terrible and I hope to look for another solution too. So if someone has a better way, please help.
(Thanks for telling me that PayPal does not allow US$ to be transfered to a US$ account in a foreign country. I was deliberating on opening a US$ account in Singapore and transffering the money from Paypal to the US$ account. Now that is dashed.)

If a foreigner wants to open a US Bank account. Is it easy? Are we allowed? Who knows - if i go to US one of these days, I should try to open one. Which is a good bank? Are there charges? Will we receive interest for putting money in the savings account.

I have to confess I have not taken much stock photos for some time as I have been busy....but having a new camera is surely a good motivation to go shooting ;D

I finally took the plunge and bought a canon DSLR 450D with the money I made from stock photography... ;D It's time to take some photos....kekeke

Was deciding between the new 500D or the old 450D. 450D just won the TIPA award in Dec 2008 and after reading many reviews about these two cameras and the comparison etc. I finally decided 450D.  :P Mainly because it seems that "noise" issue could potentially be higher in 500D and the HD video does not seem to sit well with many people...oh well only time will tell.

Can I ask. If my country is Singapore and it is not in the list of treaty country. I dont need to do this right? Since whether I fill it in or not, they will deduct 30%? ; :-\

Unfortunately, that is correct.  There is no need to fill out the ITIN for your W8 if there is not treaty to reduce or eliminate your deduction (on US based customer sale only)  :(

Thanks so much for your answer. I appreciate that  ;D but it sucks to know they are doing this and there is nothing you can do about it.  :o

You might want to try GIMP.  I don't use it, but I'm pretty sure that it supports CMYK.

GIMP is RGB colour and not CMYK

Hi got a question.

Anyone knows if there is a free software that supports CMYK colour and tif?

I have the following:-
1) Irfanview - it does not seem to support CMYK
2) Inkscape - it cannot save as tif
3) Arcsoft - it is RBG and so does not meet CMYK

Pls advise. Thanks!

sounds good to me. Just that there really is a need to revamp the website. i cant believe that you still manage to pull in the business with a website like this.  :P
