Newbie Discussion / Re: Best Sites ?

You might try 123. They take editorial and commercial images and the upload process is much simpler than others (no categories).

I can't recommend them. Low returns on investment, and not always trustworthy partners.
So maybe Alamy might be worth a try. But I also like Sean's recommendation - change what you are shooting, not where you are uploading (I should print this as a reminder!!)

Funny thing. I get sales every day on DT. As soon as I turned off EL's I have yet to get a sale. Probably coincidence, but he's see what happens over the month.

I think it's coincidence. I opted out Feb 23rd when they first announced this and I've seen no obvious change in sales since. There are days (particularly weekends) without sales (which never used to happen before things tanked last year) but there seems to be no increase in that since Feb 23
yeah could really be a conincidence - I opted out yesterday and after not having sales for a few days before opting out i had two this morning.

Thanks, PhotoBomb, turned mine off too. I think 50 credits is way too little money paid for the amount of rights granted by the license agreement. Might rethink that if Dreamstime changes the prices to a fairer deal for photographers!

So...sub sale headline is "file sold" and credit sale is "file sold (credits)"

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

which means Sub is the new normal, credit the exception.

What others have submitted may not be very helpful to you.  Stocksy is looking to fill gaps in their collection which means they could be looking for something that others have not submitted.

My advice is to just be yourself.  If you have a niche then submit primarily that subject matter but show the breadth of your work in your submission.  Stocksy does an extensive review of prospective contributors so they will be looking at the scope of your work beyond that contained in your submission whether it be your website, Flikr, etc

I honestly can't remember how many images I initially submitted.  If that number isn't in their guidelines I would suggest 15-20 images with links to whatever else you have out there.

Sean has more insight than I do in this process so hopefully he will chime in.

Good luck!

+1

Also, if you do not have a large portfolio right now, why don't you take your time, build the port and then apply for next year's CfA?

I got 2 for 0,29$ yesterday. Wasn´t the sub rate garanteed as a minimum?

That's what I thought too.

Everyone's mileage will vary.

My DT numbers tell a different story.  They're solidly my #3 and have been for several years.  Trend line is healthy.

Statistics put in perspective:

They are solidly my #3 Microstock agency as well. However, I only contribute to 4 in total and #1 and #2 bring in about 95% of the bacon each month.

In all honesty, my income there has been stagnant for the past 3 years or so - on a rather low level.

I'm sorry, but I can hardly believe that.

Believe me, I wish this wasn't true, but it is is - and it has become the rule this year that I earn below 10 USD per month at FT. Not an exception.

I am heading for a new WME there this month. Less than 5 USD all month with 1000+ port.

Are you saying you've earned less then 5$ whole month with 1000+ port?

I was saying exactly that and then two sales came in. So now I am slightly above the 5 USD mark for monthly earnings. Yay me.

Maybe, it could be fixed faster if you would complain on SS forum too:

I'm having the same problem.

I can't access the site, so I can't complain on the site.
I am getting the Change of Terms message from July and can't click it away.

I don´t know why there is this fear of the color white. They take everything on wood or on solid black.

There is no fear of white - images shot on white are accepted on Stocksy - just it looks different. Not bright textureless white, but neutral white. Shadows allowed. But why would they accept "on white" in the typical microstock manner - it exists a million times, is sold for cheaper than what Stocksy's prices are - so how could they argue that buyers pay more for image styles they can get on the micros.

Anyways, I've said it several times - Stocksy is performing well for me. With now close to identical portfolio sizes Stocksy "out-earns" SS 4:1 (and SS is my strongest microstock agency; Stocksy out earns FT 30:1 for instance)

Please do the forum a favor and quit trolling.

With all due respect, at the moment I am not sure who is doing the trolling... . You are perfectly entitled to a critical opinion about Stocksy, the way you express it though is disrespectful, condenscending and drips from arrogance. Sorry to say it this bluntly.

But we have to keep paying attention, it is obvious that in a few months they might try this again.

Or be prepared that they change their user agreement and make DPC compulsary. But if they do, then I would have to change what I offer there, it will then only be content suitable for DPC, not Fotolia.

Content suitable for DPC - that would be very very few files.
#16
Looks like my port is gone from DPC now.

Can anyone check if there has been a sudden influx of images on DPC recently? Apparently all my files have been (re)mirrored again.

Maybe that is the reason why some saw the views on their images rising? Maybe that was when they started integrating our ports in DPC?

Same here!  >:(

(Oh and thanks Dirk, your post in the FT forum alerted me)

For what it's worth (though numbers are too small to be of any statistical value) - my RPI at Stocksy is significantly higher than at any of the micros I am submitting too. SS is my best earner among the traditional micros and Stocksy is beating SS' RPI by 5 to 7 times each month.
Have you got your whole portfolio at Stocksy?

Stocksy has image exclusivity - so the portfolios I have at the traditional micros and the one I have at Stocksy are different. My stocksy port is also smaller than my port at other micros.
