iStockPhoto.com / Re: I've had enough.
« on: May 17, 2009, 07:40 »
I hear so much about Istock giving advantage to exclusives, that it makes me sick...
Obviously it's all non-exclusives who say that.

Let me straighten some facts:
I became exclusive on istock on september, after being independent for 3 years.
I still get about the same amount of rejections. if there is something wrong woth a file then it's rejected, exclusive or not.
Do I agree with all the rejections? of course not, but I just can't whine like a lot of people here that it would be accepted if I was exclusive...

Do I get more downloads because I'm exclusive?
No.
It was like that in the first month or so, but since BM2 was launched, I'm down to about 25% of my pre BM2 downloads. and no, I don't span and keywords are all fine...

So please, find another reason to bash istock...

btw, I never woo-yayed in istock forums, and I do have a lot of critism about it... but that's for another thread...

I don't know if it has anything to do with the lightboxes, but I just sold one of the images I added to the macro lightbox.
So... thanks MSG...

General Stock Discussion / Re: How do you back up your images?
« on: December 28, 2008, 07:03 »
I have an external hard drive that is confidured to do a weekly backup, and I burn everything on 2 DVD's. I keep one of them at home and the other at my mother's house.

5
no.
I get this message too, and I'm exclusive.

Bigstock.com / deleting images from BigStock
« on: October 10, 2008, 08:45 »
as I am planning on going exclusive on IS soon, I am in the progress of deleting my portfolios from all the other sites.
I have asked for a payout at BigStock, and all my images there are well over 90 days so it is ok for me to delete them, but...
I just can't seem to find the option to delete am image there. anyone found it?

Lior, you should be able to manage your templates when you click on "My Account" in the upper right.

Did you sign up from this page?
http://www.printbusinesscards.com/Community.php?do=JoiningArtistsCommunity

I joined from the page Tim posted in his post.
I did try looking in the "My account" page, but nothing is there, and when I click on "Manage templates" it gets me to a search page with no images on it. I tired searching with the filenames I uploaded but it found nothing.

one thing that could be it is when I upload an image, when the upload is done it gets me back to the upload page with a "Only Tif Files Can Be Uploaded Here" message in bold red letters on the top of the screen.
But I did upload tif images with the exact specs they asked to.

9
maybe I'm missing something, but...

I registered, uploaded a few tamplates, but then nothing happens, it just brings me back to the upload page, and I can seem to find my uploads anywhere I looked.
how do you get to the page of setting up the templates?

what I see is not a chaced page. it's a pge on your site with my images on it.
I don't complain for no being able to log in, I do complain about leaving my images there after emailing me that they are all off the site.

Zymmetrical.com / Account closed. or is it not?
« on: July 15, 2008, 08:27 »
About a month ago I sent an email to Zym asking them to remove my images and close my account.
A few days later I recieved an email saying that it was done, and  I really can't log into the site.
Today I googled my username there and found that 4 of my images are still there.
I can't even know wether they were sold while I couldn't check, or why they didn't delete those with the rest of my portfolio.

so if you asked Zym to close your account, go and check for "leftover" images.

Funny, I just checked and my account is still there, with those $11.75, but with "0 images approved".

So the funds are there, but I  will never get them...

« on: July 07, 2008, 12:11 »
In my quest for losing non earners and getting ready to go exclusive with istock when I can (probably october...), I sent Crestock this message about 2 weeks ago:

"Hi,

I have decided to narrow the spread of my portfolio.
As all I made with your site is $11.50 in over 2 years, I am sorry to
 have to let it go.

Please delete my images and close my account.

I hope you would still consider of transfering those funds to my
paypal account: **paypal email comes here**

Please let me know, to the same email address, when portfolio is deleted.

Thanks,
Lior."

A few days later they sent me an email asking me to verify that it was me that asked the account to be cancelled, and so I did.

Today I got this email from them:
"Dear Lior

This is to confirm that your account has been terminated.

Best Regards,

Kari Sklbones
The Crestock Team"

Of course, not a single word about those $11.50 (that became $11.75 while waiting for them to take action)....

I did send an email with the same request to CanStockPhoto, but didn't even get an answer...

Going sith a very simple and clean design this time.
I hope it will be ready by the end of the week and then I will post a link.

Lighting / Re: Do you use a light meter? Which type?
« on: June 26, 2008, 05:35 »
Other then the obvious studio shoots, I did use a light meter more than once in night and low light photography.

Your camera won't measure exposures that last more than 30 seconds, and when the exposure is measured in several minutes or even hours, trial and error is not a very useful method.

No, I didn't have a huge portfolio there, but doing it to over 200 images was hard too.
but I guess it's much easier than logging in every day to delete one image.

Albumo.com / Bye Bye...
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:10 »
After deleting an image a day for about 2 weeks, and writing them twice asking for my account to be cacelled and my images removed, with no answer, I tried doing something else a few days ago.

I changed the description of all my files asking buyers not to download this image as I am trying to close the account and I will not see the royalties from it.

I just tried logging in to Albumo to delete my daily photo and my account is cancelled...

I did send an email to zymm asking my account to be cancelled as well, but no answer yet...

I think this is all I can add right now...

General Stock Discussion / Re: Is this a dumb idea?
« on: June 06, 2008, 17:23 »
I see your point, but it seems calling the practice "unethical" is a bit strong.  If the model agrees that it's a fair trade, then I guess I don't see the problem.  That is as long as the photographer is up front about what he/she intends to do with the images.  If the photographer tells the model he/she intends to only use the images for a portfolio and not for stock, then I would certainly agree it's unethical.

I agree, but I will never do that with kids that may have over enthusiastic parents.
I will work for TFCD with adults that know what I'm shooting them for and agrees to work that way.

For the first time ever on 123, I had a batch of 10 out of 10 rejected for that same reason.
