Yeah, pretty crazy. Not being able to delete your own files and also not being able to change any of your keywords or descriptions after you've uploaded.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Tips to find locations for skyline« on: July 07, 2016, 12:49 »
This is not really a tip on how to fine the locations, but when I travel I always book hotels based on how tall they are and their views. I'll even ask to switch rooms if they view is not good.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Tons of non exclusive's images on top of best match search results?« on: June 28, 2016, 20:08 »Being exclusive doesn't mean you'll get better placement. It just means that you get paid more per download and they'll highlight you a bit more if the opportunities arises. Actually, you're not correct. It does make sense for iStock to put Exclusive first because Exclusive images and videos sell for 3 times as much. So even with iStock having to pay the contributor more, iStock still makes more profit selling an Exclusive file compared to a non-Exclusive file. 6

Like etudiante_rapide, I also take a photo of the model holding the release. I use that photo as the Reference photo.

I'm English and I'm ashamed and embarrassed by our actions. When you don't agree with someone just call them a racist. 9

I'm pretty sure that as soon as you hit Submit on a video that it goes into the inspection queue.

For me the classic view option is still there for search results, but gone from the file close up page.

In Los Angeles, $50-100 for a shoot.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Video on istock« on: June 03, 2016, 13:20 »
And just think, iStock wants video contributors to upload their 4K footage so that the contributor can get that same $7 when their 4K footage sells.

General - Stock Video / Re: Model releases« on: May 23, 2016, 13:35 »
I would get a new model release for each shoot even if it's someone you have previous model releases for.
I've heard iStock is pretty tough on requiring a model release for each shoot. 15

Yup, no editorial video on iStock.

General Stock Discussion / Re: What is the world highest (number of) download per month for stock video clips?« on: May 06, 2016, 13:47 »
Back in the good days of iStock I would regularly get 20+ download in a day, even some 40+ days. Now days it's way less. But I'm sure there's still a few people with some pretty high download numbers. Especially if they're on multiple sites.

General - Stock Video / Re: Exclusive (istock) vs Non-Exclusive for newbies?« on: May 04, 2016, 15:55 »
If you're just starting out in video, I would be trying out all the companies to see how it goes. It's a lot easier to try a bunch of companies now and go exclusive later if you think that's best rather than start as exclusive and try to switch to non-exclusive after you have a ton of videos.

Uberstock's iStock portfolio has new footage that was just uploaded this week, so I guess he's still doing stock.

General - Stock Video / Re: To which agencies do you submit your footage?« on: March 12, 2016, 07:53 »On the istock forum it said later this year big changes are coming to royalty rates. So although for non-exclusives it's ridiculously low right now. Maybe just maybe they realize this and are changing things? Has any of the changes iStock made in the past few years been good for the contributors? None that I can think of, so I wouldn't hold my breath hoping that any royalty rate changes are going to be good for contributors. 23

General Stock Discussion / Re: Have you seen your footage on tv?« on: February 18, 2016, 18:20 »
I don't watch much TV, but I occasionally see mine. I happened to be watching football on New Year's Day and saw my footage in two different commercials. My footage has been used in two movies that I know about...one I saw it in the theater and the other I know because a producer contacted me with questions about my footage. Weirdest place I saw my footage was on a backdrop of a broadway musical.

General - Stock Video / Re: Clip Numbers Versus Income :Your Numbers Please« on: February 18, 2016, 09:51 »CRAP! That would be considered stealing and if a business was caught doing that, I would guess they would be sued. I think that most business and people are honest enough not to do that and if they're not honest, they would fear being caught enough to not try it. You could just as easily say that it seems to be an excellent business to rob convenient stores and banks. |
