Hi All
Im proud of where weve taken things on Veer over the past couple of years. Weve completed the transition from a premium RF and RM agency to offering a full slate of prices and content across the RF spectrum. With your help, we made 2010 a great year for our UGC collection and contributors tons of new content and contributors from our massive Dash for Cash program, an improved royalty and stats display, we held our first Photo Op shoot event, and then ended the year strong by catching up on the review queue.
With a great year behind us and another great year ahead - its now time to pass the torch. Im moving into a new role at Corbis, and will be helping to build out an online contributor platform for our macrostock (traditional stock) users.
I will be passing the reigns of managing our microstock community and the UGC editing team over to Chelsey Schaffel and want to give you a heads-up. Chelsey has been our Content Curator, and has been at Veer for many years as a Researcher and an Editor. Shes got a great eye for photography and design, and the strategic vision to push things forward from here on out. In short shes really awesome. Shell be stepping in soon to introduce herself here.
Beyond Chelsey, the great team we have in place behind-the-scenes here stays the same. Ryan will continue to be your go to guy for support and will continue to answer questions in email and on the forums. Youll be taken care of with a passionate crew who are dedicated to great imagery.
Ive loved getting to know many of you. I look forward to watching continued awesomeness happening at Veer and across the microstock and MSG communities.

Hi All - You may have noticed we made some enhancements to the Royalty Summary on your Dashboard page today: Pending Payments and Past Payments. We hope these additions make it easier to understand how much you're owed, and see what you've earned previously. Pending Payments:Under the Current Balance column, there is now a Pending Payment field. At month end processing - if your Unpaid Earnings have surpassed the $100 threshold, those earnings will hop over into the Pending Payment field and the Unpaid Earnings balance resets to $0 . The Pending Payment will then automatically be deposited into your PayPal or Payoneer account on or about the 15th of the current month (withholding taxes deducted as applicable). Once we submit to PayPal or Payoneer, the Pending Payment value resets to zero and the cycle refreshes. Past Payments:We have also added a new section, Past Payments. If you want to see previous royalty payments, hit the "Click to Show Payment History button". The 3 most recent payments will be shown, and you can also open your entire history. You can export this record to .CSV as well for tracking in Excel or Numbers. Thanks for your feedback concerning needed improvements to the Dashboard. Hi All This past weekend we pushed a release live on Veer that includes enhancements on both the customer and contributor sides of the site. For customers: - New contextual FAQs to aid customers across the site - Search enhancements to improve performance - New search sort option: Price: Highest to Lowest - A new Free landing page aggregating our free content like images and illustrations of the week, wallpapers, screensavers and more For contributors: - New footer on contributor pages with shortcuts to key areas of the site - Updated vector upload workflow: Weve altered the vector upload workflow so that we can support offering customers a full-slate of rasterized JPEGs in addition to your .EPS vector. This was something many of you, and many of our customers, have been waiting for. This means that your original .EPS vector file and a full suite of JPEG sizes from XS to XXL will be presented together to the customer on a single product detail page. This is important - customers will now have the option to pick the file format and size that works best for them. To support this, the new vector upload requirements are as follows: We have moved away from the automated preview generation tool that caused wonky previews for some of you. As the best quality vector previews come straight from the source - you - we are now requiring you to supply a high-res JPEG for each .EPS vector. We know this requires a workflow change, but this is needed to ensure very high quality customer facing previews and JPEG derivatives. - The JPEG version must have the same file name as the .EPS vector (eg: mycoolvector.jpg, mycoolvector.eps) - The longest side of the JPEG version must be at least 4900pixels. We recommend 5400pixels or more to ensure very high quality previews and JPEG derivatives. - IPTC metadata continues to be read from the JPEG file (if embedded) - Our team will regenerate new previews and JPEG derivatives from all existing vector content currently on the site. Hi All - As many of you have already noticed - we pushed a release live on veer.com this past weekend. This post here - http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/162 - covers the details, but wanted to share the news here as well. The recently redesigned veer.com is off to a great start, but were not content to coast. Veer is working hard to continue updating our site, making improvements in usability and features for both contributors and buyers. Last weekend, a release that included numerous site enhancements went live. Here are the changes we think you will be most interested in: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Improved statistics and royalty reporting: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Based upon your feedback, weve improved the royalty reporting stats on the dashboard to better show you your current and lifetime earnings, as well as changed the customizable date range from weeks to months to better support offline reporting. Its been clear from talking to many of you that the table view showing sales was much more useful than the graphs, so we made the table view the new default, but the graphs are still visible if you choose. Weve also made the download as .csv link more visible for you Excel junkies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Batch-enabled uploading: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Weve improved the look and feel of the upload interface, and added batch functionality for keywording and disambiguation. You can now add or remove keywords to multiple images at once. When editing keywords, you can now toggle between shared and superset. Shared shows only the keywords common across all selected images. Superset shows the all of the aggregated keywords from all selected images. Happy keywording! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ New localizations: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Were also working to get more eyes and sales on your images by making the site more accessible to a wider array of customers worldwide. This release included French and Italian localization of veer.com, in addition to our existing German and UK sites. Veer is now better able to support buyers in the biggest European markets, and forthcoming marketing initiatives in Europe will help spread the word. Localization not only includes site graphics and copy on customer facing pages, but also search (through the power of our CV). We are now working through the post-Dash for Cash backlog, and expect to return to normal service times (1 week) in November. Hi All, Weve been absolutely amazed by the response to our Dash for Cash promotion, which ran earlier this summer. We knew that paying a bonus for approved images would be something many contributors would be interested in, but we seriously underestimated the sheer volume of enthusiasm. Tons of great images flooded in huge waves, and weve still got more in the queue. Were glad to see so many earning significant $$ bonuses in the program. Buyers being driven to the site from Veer marketing efforts are seeing a greatly expanded collection of great microstock content. All in all its been a big successs. Huge thanks to all who participated! After the backlog began to explode, and realizing our editors were falling far behind, we began to significantly expand our capacity - hiring and training a large pool of new faces eager to review your content. The good news: with a much bigger editing team in place we are now on track to finish all Dash for Cash editing by the end of September. We know the wait has been extremely long, and are really grateful for your patience. We know that long waits impact your workflows and ability to load more content. Once through the Dash for Cash backlog, we will continue to work hard to return to sustainable editing times as quickly as we can. We expect that editing service times will return to more reasonable levels (~7 days) by early November. Due to the massive influx of content, weve had to adjust the timing as we work to finish editing. As noted on this forum, we recently processed and posted Dash for Cash bonus earnings to some accounts. These are artists (roughly 60% of participants) for which we had already completed editing on all of their Dash for Cash submissions. (You can see the bonus by selecting the table view on your stats page - look for the Dash for Cash logo). Those contributors who still had Dash for Cash submissions pending your bonus earnings will be tallied and posted to your accounts in the next round of royalty processing at the end of September. Please note as with all Veer royalty earnings, the normal $100 payout threshold still applies. Thanks again for your patience, and for making Dash for Cash a huge success. Check it out - one of our designers created a cool new background especially for us. I read it as a representation of the concept of a "community of images". Hi All - Were excited to announce the launch of a redesigned veer.com. Weve worked hard to roll out a new web site that offers customers a unified site with simpler navigation, better showcases more affordable content, and provides industry-leading payment flexibility. All designed to help you sell more. The highlights: - Your images front and center:Weve combined our entire collection into a single, powerful search experience that better showcases your content. Microstock images are no longer on the sidelines -- they are now integrated into a single search result side-by-side traditional royalty free imagery. This is a key part of our strategy to make Veer.com more affordable and more appealing to a bigger audience of customers. To also make Veer more welcome to all kinds of imagey buyers, weve removed some of the industry labels that some customers may find confusing like premium, value, or microstock. We now show images with their corresponding prices right up front, and weve added new search filters allow users to quickly find the content that best fits their needs and budget whether its price range, resolution, or file type. - An uncomplicated shopping experience to attract more customers to your images:Weve made the Veer home page beautiful and user-friendly with a big search box, gorgeous images made from elements that can be licensed on the site, and a clearer explanation of what Veer offers. We think its really going to draw new buyers in. We renamed the tabs at the top of the page, and added easier access to a new and improved lightbox, as well as a redesigned shopping cart. But customers were limited to buying macrostock content on credit card or on-account only. Now all customers can license all of your content with either credits purchased in a credit pack, or pay directly with a credit card. We think this kind of flexibility is going to be a draw from big agencies that prefer credit cards for accounting purposes, to the smaller shop that appreciates the savings and pick-and-go convenience of credits. More on the removal of "Marketplace": As we first started talking about earlier this year - as part of our shift to a site more centrally focused on affordable content - we've removed the term Marketplace from page copy. We're taking Veer.com down for maintenance beginning at 7pm MST tonight, and continuing through 7pm MST tomorrow, Saturday July 10th.
During the outage all sections of Veer.com will be down - including ideas.veer.com and contributor.veer.com.
I'll post a note here when we get the all-clear and the site is back up tomorrow night.

Hi All - We've posted a revised version of the Veer Contributor Agreement today, which will be effective July 10, 2010. As Veer.com is going to be relaunched this summer, we have updated the Contributor Agreement to support its new features and changes. There are a few key changes to note. The following can be found in section IV-E of the new Contributor Agreement and are explained in more detail in the FAQ: The ability to purchase microstock images with cash is one of the most significant enhancements to the re-launched Veer site. The new agreement allows Veer to calculate contributor royalties from cash purchases. Removal of the automatic end-of-year payout for royalty balances that havent yet hit the $100 minimum payout threshold. Removal of the term Marketplace from the site, customer facing pages, and Contributor Agreement.

Old news now to some - but now that I'm back from vacation I want to make sure you're all up to speed on the stats page released this past weekend. Posted to the VMP Group on Veer Ideas: http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/120------------------- We've included a few different ways to track your performance: The top half of the screen shows a year-to-date summary. The pie chart on the right shows what portion of your sales were made in the US (this is important info for those who are subject to withholding taxes on US earnings). The bottom half of the page shows sales over a specific time frame - you can customize the date range in weeks (up to 2 years) and view the data in either chart form or as a table. By clicking the "view as table" link you can get an expanded detail of each sale including: - sale date - sales type: whether the image was licensed with standard credits or with a subscription - license type: indicates if the sale was a standard license or an extended license option - description: shows either the resolution purchased, or the type of extended license - a checkmark to indicate if the sale was from a US buyer (and possibly subject to applicable withholding taxes) - gross royalty earned (before any applicable withholding taxes) ** Extra super secret squirrel hint for the Excel wizards out there: click the "download as .CSV" link at the bottom of the table if you prefer to extract the data. Finally - at the bottom of the page is a list of your top performing files in the specified time frame. ------------------- More updates coming soon - we've got another release that's about to be pushed out over the weekend (mostly buyer features/enhancements). - Brian

While we have lots of features and enhancements to address across the site - we know that these two are incredibly important baseline elements for our contributors. Search by contributor is especially important for buyers as well.

Buyers can now search and license your images, and newly approved content will be added to the site daily. - Credit-based pricing and payment, available in pay-as-you-go credit packs or through subscriptions. - Images will be highlighted more prominently in veer.com search results with a new dual search pane that puts microstock next to traditional rights-managed and royalty-free images. I think this is a really big deal - gets your content in front of more eyes - and shows off the great quality of your content in a new way. - An improved search experience will help customers filter search results by price with four tiers: Way Cheap (from $1), Cheap ($9-$100), Spendy ($49-$350), and Worth It ($49-$655). ...................................................................... > There are also some important contributor changes to highlight: < ...................................................................... - More control over how your name, company name, or brand name is represented: You can now add an "alias" on your Ideas member page, which will also appear on all image detail pages. You can also add a "company name" - if you don't pick an alias this will appear on image detail pages and underneath your full name on your Member page. - Basic metrics on approved files tab: On the "Approved" tab on your Dashboard, you'll now see metrics for the number of downloads and views, as well as total royalty earned for each file. A complete royalty and statistics panel is in the works, but coming in an upcoming release. - Illustration setting for JPEG files: You'll notice a new set of radio buttons in the metadata section in the Prepare and Submit tab on the Workspace page. You dont need to change anything for photos, but selecting "Illustration" for JPEG-based, non-photo illustrations helps ensure search filters include your files in illustration searches. EPS vectors are automatically marked as illustrations, so no changes are necessary for those files. - Age range and ethnicity drop-downs on model releases: If you choose to use the model release dropdowns for age range and ethnicity, the appropriate keywords will automatically be added to those images. Works anytime you use that release in the future - saves time and makes sure your people shots will be included when customers use the "people" search filters. - Integration with Payoneer sign-up process: I can't wait to show you the Veer Marketplace branded prepaid debit-Mastercard - it looks great! In order to offer your images to customers and get royalties headed your way - your Veer Marketplace registration must be complete.
This means that some of you still need to take one or more of the following steps before your images are searchable: - If you were transferred from SnapVillage and haven't yet logged into your Veer Marketplace account please do so ASAP - you need to accept the Veer Markeplace agreement and the transfer of your files from SnapVillage. Just log-in and you'll be redirected through this process. - Complete your withholding tax registration - click the "provide more informatiion" link in the text at the top of your Workspace, or go to: https://marketplace.veer.com/account/continuesignup after you've logged in. - If you have signed-up to use Payoneer - you need to complete the Payoneer card application. After signing in go to - https://marketplace.veer.com/account/contributoredit and click "sign-up" next to the Payoneer option. This will pass you into the Payoneer card application process. This can take up to 72 hours to process - visit that URL again and click the "status" link to see where your application is at.
