Adobe Stock / Moving to Adobe
« on: December 11, 2022, 14:46 »
I've been an exclusive vector contributor at iStock since 2006  but I'm starting to consider other options.
A few years ago I looked into contributing at SS, and at the time there was the option to open an account but not activate it.
This allowed you to upload a big bunch of images but not have them for sale until you'd completed your exclusivity cancellation.
I think after a while this option was done away with but I wondered if such a thing exists at Adobe?

Image Sleuth / Re: is VECTEEZY partner site of some kind?
« on: November 06, 2021, 08:11 »
A bit of research in the IS/Getty forum shows me that Vecteezy is a partner of IS/Getty and is legitimate. If you're an IS contributor a search of the forums will bring up lots of info. The free image which I thought was mine looks quite similar to mine but when I look closely I realise it is not. Any images of mine on the Vecteezy site are clickable links which take me back to my portfolio at iStock, so none of my images are available for free at Vecteezy. Hopefully you can find some more info about your images and their appearance on the site.

gives me a clue

It's widely discussed in the IS forums, including an explanation.

Not sure that was a very helpful reply. I'm sure many of the sites' own forums would also be good/better than here. But we come here as it is sort of 'news central' so we don't have to read each and every forum.

I was pointing out to the OP where the best information was available, seems quite helpful to me.

Widely reported in IS forums, probably best place to look for IS info.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Coronavirus ?
« on: March 19, 2020, 08:00 »
"Today the UK has 103 deaths vs Germany's 31 even with Germany's massive land borders making control of movement so much more difficult"

Compared to Italy's 2978, France's 264 and Spain's 767. Let's get a bit of perspective here and stop making cheap political points out of a crisis.

9
You're either exclusive or not, you can't have it both ways, certainly as far as iStock are concerned.

Stock is already dead, everyone is doing it for peanuts on the side of their 9-5 emplyment in the real world

Speak for yourself.

They did pay early, on the 21st December. Presumably you've earned enough for a payout and have thus contacted support, what do they say?

12
I uploaded 3 photos from my Motorola G3 ( just to add I'm mainly a vector contributor but I do have some photos) really more as an experiment to see if they were accepted, and I have sold one of them so far. I have to say the G3 is certainly not a high end phone, and to improve my prospects I've now bought a OnePlus 6T, ( which can shoot RAW) and I will hopefully add more photos this year.

13
I've been a freelancer in publishing for 35+ years and I have never been paid 90 days after publication, that is crazy. 30 days from invoice date is normal, and sometimes late payment may stretch this to 60 days but I have never ever heard of anyone waiting a year or more for payment. Whereabouts does this happen?

14
From my own personal experience the problem may be the quote itself, rather than the font.

Off Topic / Re: Any pets?
« on: September 07, 2018, 01:37 »
I'm looking for ways on how to train dogs, until I saw these dog training collars which is primarily used to correct bad habits such as barking, digging, and chewing, a training collar can transform a misbehave dog into a well obedient dog. What do you think? Are these actually effective or is it just some sort of industry push to sell products? Any suggestion will be helpful to me.

These are illegal in the UK, just train a dog properly using the methods which are widely available and which don't involve cruelty to your pet.

Got mine early too. Did you reach the minimum payout threshold?

17
I hate doing this, but dude...

You gotta take some serious classes, and I mean from professionals. Perhaps extra focus on drawing the human form if that's what you wanna do, because d@mn... That's all I can say.

learning while working would be more preferable for me  :) any suggestions please ?
If you're making vectors for stock you have to make them of interest to as many potential buyers as possible, stock imagery being all about volume of sales. You have to think how many potential buyers will need a man in a children's playground with a monkey on his back whilst he takes a selfie, and at the same time a woman behind him does something, I'm not sure what, shields her face? How many buyers will need this particular scenario? It doesn't help that the figures aren't convincing at this stage either.

ESP ->account management ->profile. There is a link to your portfolio half way down the page.
If you want to remove images from your portfolio you have to contact iStock/Getty and ask for specific images to be removed, I had a feeling you need a specific reason, preferably relating to a legal point, to have them removed.

I watch 95% BBC1 / BBC2 with about 1% BBC4*. I can't stand adverts**. In fact, I can't get my head around e.g. Sky at all. You have to pay money and you still get adverts? Are people INSANE?
* and 1% Dave, until the adverts come on.
** and even on the Beeb, too much time repeatedly promoting their 'favourite' upcoming progs.

If you have Sky or Virgin cable TV ( I'm talking UK here) you get a PVR box thrown in so you can record the shows you like and skip through the ads. I have Virgin broadband and get a cheap TV deal as we have poor reception of terrestrial TV.

It's been reported on the iStock Facebook page as in the process of being fixed.

use the mouse to hoover over the icon and be enlightened
I hovered, nothing happened. The little pencil, that explained itself ( well I knew that one anyway), green dial, nothing.

23
There is a little green dial below my name, it used to be right round to the, err, right, now it appears to have gone the other way. I have no idea what it shows but I am doing far less well at it now than I used to , apparently, whatever it is. :-\

There is also Affinity Designer, only Mac at the moment, but has won awards and garnered good reviews all round. I bought it when it first launched but haven't had time to give it a proper look yet. https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/

Oh come on... Its just some private profile on facebook, nothing commercial at all.
I'm willing to bet that copyright issues didn't even occur to the poor guy when he found a cool pic that might look good on his facebook page.
I suggest you get off your high horse and concentrate on something productive.
I'd say one of the biggest problems for any seller of a creative product, whether it be art, photography or music, is the belief by many that if an image or creative product is online it is somehow seen to be free. I think any working professional would take issue with your comment. It encourages the sort of thinking that takes money out of creative peoples pockets.
