IMHO in this survey regarding iStock should be split in 3 due PP sales amount is given later and sometimes EL too. So we would have:
iStock iStock PP iStock EL
It also would be great to see how are they doing. ;0)

Hi folks, I think it would be a great share for a lot of people interested starting microstock life.
The question is: How was your 1st year as microstocker? Answering the following: - How much did you do in your 1st year income? (1st income:) - How many agencies have you contributed in your 1st year and what agencies were them? (Agencies:): - How many files have had you in your portfolio in your 1st year? (Portfolio size:) - How many downloads did you get in your 1st year? - Extra info if wished.
So you can answer like that, my case:
1st year (2003): US$ 130.00 Agencies: iStockphoto (non-exclusive) Port size: 150 (Fotos and vectors) Downloads/y: 1294 Extra info: In that time I just used to upload scanned paper photos, once I had no digital camera and also used to upload vetors.
Have a nice day.

Amazing list. Thanks a lot for sharing it.
Another useful info to add IMHO in the 1st post/list, right below 'opt out: yes/no" would be if the agency shows the income from partners (Yes/No). So, if you get to know how much did you make from partners.
Have a great Sunday.

Thanks SC and LuisSantos, I appreciated that.
Useful Link Luis. Wow a bunch of partners and do not yield a dime as return! I mean, at least there is no way to see it on Fotolia site I think or I'm missing it.
Thanks guys and have a great Sunday.

Hi folks, I'm wondering how Pixersize is selling my images in their stuffs if I never uploaded there and never heard about any paternership with them from other agency. Here are my images: http://pixersize.com/wallmurals/absolute-secrecy-41406538#tab (lucato) Is anybody else facing the same thing or has some explanation about it? Thanks in advance and have a great Sunday.

Hi folks,
I wonder if does it worth to sell your work directly setting your own site? I mean, I have heard about Symbiostock theme or other themes. So I have do questions:
1. How are your sales doing in your own site (Symbiostock/Other theme) monthly compared to the big 4 Top tier? 2. Does it worth to spend time setting it and uploading all your portfolio to your own site, keywording, adding categories, prices and so on instead of using the time to upload to the big 4 top tier?
Thanks in advance and have a great week.

Hi folks, good morning.
I know people that would like to work as a Keyworder/Keymaster. So I wonder if you guys know:
1) Where to find Crowd-work (crowd-sourcing, crowd-whatever) sites where these friends can apply to work as keworder/keymaster; 2) If you're a Photographer that would like to hire them, how much are you willing to pay per image (keyword/tittle/description) and what is your needed workflow; 3) Any other tip is welcome regarding keyword/keymaster hiring.
Thanks in advance

Unfortunately I had to port the server from asp.net to php, and wasn't able to carry over the functionality for the keywording panel. Very few people ever used that keywording tool so I'll remove it from the toolbar at some point in the future.
If you need an easy to use keywording tool, I highly recommend Microstockgroup's own tool: http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keyword.php or of course: http://picWorkflow.com
Thanks for your attention and reply. I'll check this out.

Hi folks,
I'm just trying PicNiche on FireFox, but it doesn't work when I type the keyword and click on Refine/Keyword.
I'm using FireForx 20.0.1 - Any idea if it still works for this version or it is just an issue here?
Thanks.

Hi Folks,
I wonder if it worths to work with RF images at Alamy. I saw their prices are very high and people commenting that it isn't "fair" to put the same RF images in ALAMY and other agencies because customer can find a cheaper place and get mad and so on. Well, I don't agree with this part once if you are going to buy a camera, you will find several stores with different prices, so it is up to you to do you research. ;0) Well, going back to the main subject, selling RF at Alamy, I saw some graphic that it seams that worth to submit image to them, but here at MicrostockGroup it doesn't show at any TopTier, Middle Tier or LowEarnigs.
A few questions: - What are your comment on it? - What is the RF Alamy ranking for you among the agencies you sell your images? Is is on the Top tiers? - Do they accept FTP file transfer? - After uploading is it needed to categorize every single image on their site? - After uploading is it needed to attach MR or PR image by image?
Thanks in advance.

Concentrate your efforts on uploading to SS first. Trust me, nothing else really matters as much as that to an indie. Most indies report that SS generates about 50% of total income (and growing) and IS nowadays maybe 18-25%. All the other agencies together might amount to the other 25% and even the more important of them, DT and FT, tend to be slow starters when it comes to generating income. Hey Gostwyck and folks, other day I saw a graphic and seems that ALAMY is a good seller agency too, I don't know this one. Do you know it, upload to it, have any comments on it? Does anybody else upload to ALAMY? How is it compared to the other agencies? Thanks in advance.

I went independent because all the drama and bad management decisions of the last 2 years and especially the last 6 months. And then the Microsoft deal and the getty/google deal.
The traffic for istock is falling continuosly, it never goes back up. Istock must be losing customers on a massive scale. Everyone I knew who used to buy from istock has turned away over all the IT issues and the extremly high prices. Nobody ever goes back to istock.
Same here... + Cut earnings from 40% to 35% and applying the new RC for old contributors instead of applying new rules for new members; + Referrals not works as expected or better, doesn't work at all; + Forums terrible to search and use; + Search results with a lot of problems + The way IS is going lately, I wanted to avoid keeping all eggs in the same basket and opted to spread my work (product) to other agencies (stores); + so on...

AHA!!! Nearly 50% after 9 months and you still have thousands of files to upload. Very encouraging!!!
Could you post this table on your facebookpage (for the public) then I would repost it on my own page for cobalt stock.
This is very good news, indeed.
Sure, as soon as I do it, I'll let you know.

Cobalt, here is the table with iStock indie included: Now, no more tables until some months ahead. :0) I need to go back and upload and categorize images. kkkk. Just kidding.

« on: March 18, 2013, 09:25 »
But what about your indie istock earnings? Are they included in the 21%? Or would that be another column for your table ? Maybe then your total earnings are higher?
No Cobalt, the iStock itself as indie was not included. Well noticed. I'll generate a new one with iStock indie included.

Hi Lucato,
if you write to depositphotos that you have many files but have little time they will help you upload and edit your files to get them online faster. They just made me that offer last, I am sure they would offer the same to you.
I wrote back that for now I want to try doing it myself, but because deposit is a smaller site, perhaps I will take them up on that offer.
I already knew that, anyway thanks for the tip. ;0)

Hi Lucato, do you think you could give us a table comparing your current earnings with your previous exclusive earnings? If you take an average exckusive income and set that as 100% and then add a second column with your total indie earnings. And then show us how did it all develop over time. I think you are currently at 40% of your previous exclusive income. Is that correct?
Hi Cobalt, sure. Here is the table, but far away from 40% :0(, but the total is growing little by little monthly. :0) Well, considering I've left exclusivity on April/12, I got the data from a year before, May/11 through Feb/12 (Exclusive) to compare with May/12 through Feb/13 as indie. So, here is the data and a total on the end summing up all agencies % income: Just as a curiosity to show how the income drops after quitting the exclusivity, here is also a little graphic:

...and anyways this is Lucato's thread
No aeonf, it is for the community, this isn't my thread to talk only about my experiences after quitting iStock exclusivity. You and anyone is very welcome to put yours experiences too. ;0)
