I just logged in using Facebook and it worked fine.  I tried adding an image to the cart and it took me to the download area but it did not show the image however it did show up when clicked on my cart in the upper right to refresh the page.

I like the one you're using because it's got the line saying you can log in using those options.  I set up a different one and while it's got the icons on the registration page it doesn't tell you that you can log in using those.

@Cascoly - I was just going to post your point #4.  I agree that most buyers will be coming for one or two images so it's not likely that anyone will be faced with having to check out with a dozen different sites to get their images.

What I would like to see is a feature that lets you have some sort of a "cart corral" so as you travel the network you can see all your open carts in one area making it easy to get back to something you've added to a cart three sites back.

There's probably some stray function not compatible with the latest version of PHP. Once I get that things should be fine.

Leo - should we hold off on updating to WP 3.6 for now pending an updated version of Symbiostock or is this a random thing that is only affecting some users?

They still have my support.  Easy uploads and I see activity so it's worth sticking around for me.  I was happily surprised to get a very nice EL purchase there several weeks ago.  They haven't given me a compelling reason to leave.

I like the idea although I'm not sure how much knowledge I could contribute.  My strongest area is in general WP functions, widgets, posting, pages, etc. since I've had a few blogs over the past years.  I really don't have any programming skills to share.  My hours of availability are a bit limited too which may be frustrating to someone I'd be mentoring.

Perhaps having a child board in the Symbiostock forum dedicated to "Help - new to Symbiostock" would serve the purpose of mentoring those new to the process.  A few sticky posts at the top could serve as starting points such as a pointer to the Symbioguides, a FAQ list, etc. and searching for answers to new set up stuff may be easier if a majority of it could be kept in one place.  Of course those with experience could always reach out to do some one-on-one mentoring if they see a newcomer struggling in a area they can offer expertise.

Anyway, its still a baby and we're all hard at work on it, so human attendance might not be possible.

Someone showed me an email: "PACA Conference Discounts End Friday" and Symbiostock is mentioned on it?

So as not to leave you empty handed we can compile something, even if its just a flier.

Leo - Teslamania is listed as taking place on October 19th at Wardenclyffe - just a mere 90 minutes away from NYC, the day before PACA starts.   No details on just what Teslamania is all about but it could be added incentive to reconsider....

I'd be happy to offer any of my files. I'm not to proficient in public speaking so I don't feel confident in giving a presentation but I might be able to arrange my schedule to be available for a Q&A session after a video.  Leo - would you consider leaving paradise for a few days if I point out that you would be only 90 minutes away from Wardenclyff?

My manager at my day job gave me $20 to get tickets for the two of us.  Gotta love a boss like that!
And I see it's after 11:00 so I'd better go check those winning numbers!

I turned off photo comments too, but I get them everyday and can't make the comment box go away. The blog page doesn't work correctly either. I have my Page of Posts set at maximum 6 posts shown per page, but it shows all 30+. The Related Posts widget seems to be incompatible too, which is shame because that is a great widget which I've always used on my blogs.

I had the opposite problem on my blog - I searched everywhere trying to turn on comments.  I finally found the checkbox on the Quick Edit option.  Try going to the Quick Edit option for photos and do a bulk edit.  You'll see the check box to turn on and off comments.  I found that was over-riding the other comment box options.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Organic search %
« on: August 03, 2013, 21:14 »
Organic search - 46.2%
Referrals - 32.7%

Symbiostock.info is 25.25% of the referral traffic

I notice that the referral traffic coming in from other Symbiostock sites is staying on the site longer and viewing more pages.  Of course it could just be other curious Symbiostock or MSG members looking around.

That was happening with a recent Symbio theme update too. The solution was to go to Appearance / Themes and deactivate Symbiostock by activating any other theme then reactivate Symbiostock. Toggle the themes like that and it should return.

They posted this link on FB leading to their corporate website that covers multiple hosting brands.  They are giving updates every 30 minutes. http://enduranceresponse.com/.  I'm down right now but hadn't experienced the down time that others have commented on having over the past months.

Symbiostock - Suggestions / Re: Feature Request List
« on: July 30, 2013, 23:15 »
I'd like to see a search option to narrow a search through adding on additional keywords to fine-tune the selection.

ie:
Start with "Shrimp" - decide the results are too wide-ranging (includes live shrimp, shrimp boats, prepared meals)
Add keyword - "Cooked" (limits results to prepared food, shrimp scampi, shrimp cocktail, etc.)
decide that a pasta dish with shrimp might best suit your need so add the keyword "Pasta"

It would return similar results if you searched Shrimp + Pasta I guess, but it's nice to be able to narrow the search as you go instead of having to get it right the first time, or keep revising the original search.

I've added a twitter account too - @ksstockphotos.com and I'm following those I could find with Symbiostock affiliation.  Twitter name varies a bit from my site url to keep it shorter but that's a second domain that redirects to my site so my Symbio site can be found either way.

I've been slacking on creating new content the first half of the year but I'm getting back in the swing of things.  All new content is going to my Symbiostock site first now.  Some images will likely get uploaded to a few select sites in the future.  I don't want to leave money on the table but I want to give Symbiostock some unique images for now.  I'm starting to think more selectively about which of the other sites will get any new content too.

I don't really understand his investment in scoopshot or how it will make him a bigger return on his investment than if he had put all his energy into peopleimages.

I don't think, we've seen the last stage of scoopshot. With a 1.4 million investment, one can presume an expansion and  more development,  and quite likely branching into other markets. In addition,  there may be some synergy between Yuri's other companies and scoopshot that could bring other indirect benefits and improved economy scale for him.

So if I'm reading the terms correctly, they sell the image for $5 and "reward" the photographer/seller with $2.50 and have the right to transfer all the copyrights to the buyer who then has the right to re-post and sell the image if they desire.  They listed a few different license options but didn't give they pay scale so it wasn't clear if the full rights buyout pays more.  I can't see any serious photographer transferring their copyright for $2.50.  More likely a bunch of casual snappers that don't read the terms or pay attention to the rights they give away and the legal liabilities they've agreed to.

Leo - just a thought on the advanced search feature.  When I upgrade how will it interact with anyone in my network that hasn't upgraded?  Will it return no results like the phrase search does now or is there a default to the first word or some other option so it doesn't muck up the network searches?
It won't hurt anyone. In fact you will be giving the network more accurate results. They won't be affected at all.

I haven't done anything with the default page yet. But I can keep in mind a default page for "no results" if you wish.

I trust that you'll work out what needs to be done to keep the network at it's peak.  My concern was that if I have a lot of people in my network that are not using the upgrade then when someone searches my site using compound keywords they won't see any search results from the rest of the network which would negate some of the benefits of the network.

Featured images - assign images to Symbiostock Featured Images category that is generated with the theme, then use the featured images widget to put them where you want

I'm trying to recall if it was dependent on which home page format you're using.  I remember selecting the CTA (Call to Action) home page but for the life of me I can't find where that option was now!
Found it!  If you go to the All Pages option and select the Quick Edit option for your home page you can see the dropdown with templates.  Try switching to the other options and see if that works.
Before you try that however, you may want to go to your Symbiostock management page and on the Settings tab, down at the bottom, is a check box to Update Public Images.  You may need to trigger that to get it to show images initially.

This may work too - go to your Symbiostock management area of the dashboard and select the marketing tab.  Down at the bottom is an option to download a CSV file of your images.  The first column is the image ID number and the URL is listed too.

Am I the only one who leaves the comment box switched on for images?  When looking around other people's sites I would quite often like to leave a comment on a picture but there is never an option, I thought they helped with seo?

My images have the option to leave a comment however it's not the big comment form that was showing on Martha's page, it's just a single comment line at the bottom that is relatively unobtrusive.  I'm not sure how that format is showing there (or if it's active on all images).  If I can figure that out I'll share what I discover.

LOL - not a genius by far.  It took me about an hour to find that location for the dominant check box when I was trying to turn ON the comments for my blog.  I had the option activated in the Discussion areas but it wasn't visible, and the full edit section doesn't override it either.  I finally found it hidden in the Quick Edit area after searching all options.

Well, I'll be happy to know where it is if/when I get around to adding a blog to my site. To me, that's the appropriate place for comments, and I will welcome them there.

I still say... you're a genius! :-)

When you're ready to add your blog be sure to take note of the option in the upper right to "schedule" posts instead of publishing immediately.  You can change the publish time (this changes the button text from Publish to Schedule) which allows you to write several posts whenever it's convenient and schedule the publish time for a date in the future so you have regular updates without being tied to manual publishing.

Re: Comments on Category pages:  Go to Dashboard / Pages / All Pages.  Hover over the page title and you'll see options for Edit and Quick Edit - select the Quick Edit option and un-check the "allow comments" section.  I think that will remove the comments option.

Yesssss!!!! That's it! Klsbear, you are a genius. Thank you so much. I've just taken your advice and quickly/easily scrubbed the annoying Comment sections from the bottom of those pages. Without help, I don't think I would ever have found that teensy-weensy little check-box in the Quick Edit section.

I appreciate your help in this very much, and I look forward to helping others as they build their own sites down the road.
