I used to have some, but recently istock took $200 off from my account and said it was Getty360 refunds. Don't know if this is any relevant in this topic  ::)

Maybe someone should first sue their asses for paying only subscribtion commission for credit sales.

Yeah, I wasn't being serious. It can't possibly go from hundreds to just three in an instant.  Well, not unless the naughty internetty monster has been at work in the computer room again.

With iStock anything is possible ;)

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy is going to sell VECTORS
« on: May 19, 2014, 03:35 »
Does anybody have experiences selling vectors at Alamy?

I'm considering to contact them and send a batch, but it takes a lot of work to do that batch so I was wondering if it's a dead market for vectors.

With my crappy snapshots I've had 3 sales in 1,5 year there :D

You'll need a batch of 1000+ vectors sent by mail.

I know and that's why I would like to have some advice is it worth to do that big batch with all metadata keywording etc.

Here's also number #1 tip for new vector artists: Save your EPS and JPG's with metadata to some specific folder and keep them in order so that it's easy to send them later in a batch.

After some browsing on DPC here are a few big a good portfolios i have bumped into.
Do you recognize any of these contributors? Maybe some of you know how to get in touch with some of them.

...

Google + facebook might find most of them. Message should be clear in case if they haven't heard of DPC before.

83
i dont see any increase in commissions. Anyone saw except file sold user, who is probably generated by fotolia?

I have opted out 600+ images from DPC. Then I must be heck of a good fotolia-spy :D

84
My normal commission is 0.29, now there is some 0.38, 0.48, 0.32 and 0.40.

Didn't remember to mention, but opted out 600+ images (about 400 are vectors) from DPC week ago.

Thanks Luis.

I almost forgot to mention that I also asked help in iStock forums and got a response from a moderator where I was told to contact support. Then my forum topic was closed and soon removed. For me that seems some sort of a hiding. Are they trying to hide this problem from other contributors? I think it's very important for contributors to know what's happening specially when their e-mails haven't gone out.

So I asked what is going on? Where did $200 disappeared from my account without notification?

istock support answered:

"Apologies for the delay. On May 9th, we processed refunds for a batch of Partner Program transactions, such as Getty 360. These refunds would normally be followed closely with an email notification. Unfortunately these emails did not go out. This issue has been prioritized so that we will once again have email notifications in place.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused."

So that's it! No more questions. They think it's ok to take a $200 refund without any given data! Whoa, they are just sooooo bad in business. So stupid! I haven't even seen any spike at my earnings, just a lousy earnings between $500-$600 a month. Used to be much higher. So it seems that this refund can be from some 2007. LOL.

How can I trust a company that has enormous problems to handle anything according to accounting? I asked them to immediately send me the data from their lottery machine.

It's funny that they took this refund at friday :D

Just tried to embed some MacGyver here to give us the motivation punch to fight against this *insult removed*! Couldn't do it  :'(

Wow! Great news, Mat! So nice that Fotolia cares about its contributors and increases the commission on "pseudo-subscriptions" from 6-7% to 20%.

But... Oh, wait, holy s**t, are you kidding us? Who needs 5 XXL images for 25$ when you promote your DPC where a user can get 25 XXL for 25 bucks?

Look the truth in the eye - Fotolia came to a death agony, more than 6,500,000 images opted-out of DPC and the number keeps growing. Do you really think that you can return that many images back to DPC with the help of this news?

lol. That's so true. Maybe they think we are stupid?  :o

89
Normally I get 0.29 from a subscribtion sale, but in past days I've got some 0.32 and 0.38 subscribtion sales too. What that might be?

90
Just to clear that up a bit:

If I understand that correctly, it is NOT about DPC directly.
Fotolia is raising the commission they pay on the monthly subscriptions.
Until now all we receive is our regular subscription rate.
For example the smallest package sells at $25 for 5 XXL images, i.e. we used to receive $0,25 - $0,40 per sale depending on our rank.

That is 5% - 8%.

Dirk

Now they raise that to a flat 20% (with a lower limit of the old rate).

That alone is a good move.
While I would like to receive the rate according to my rank (as these are not really subscriptions, but rather credit packages under a different name) it is still an improvement.

Now the connection to DPC: If you opt your portfolio in to DPC, that rate (for the monthly subscriptions) goes up from 20% to 25%.

I never knew about this one! How f****** greed they have been!?! *puke* There most some unbeliveable stupid people running this site!

That's a good idea!

You know what would be a really cool idea too? To build an artists-to-artists stock company. I don't know if there is one already, but in graphic area there is creativemarket.com. It's founded by real artists and contributor gets 70%. That's pretty awesome! Atm it generates about 7% of my overall monthly earnings and it has been around for about little over year or some now.

With your idea we could get people aware of our situation and even think about crowdfunding possibilities to found a new "greener" stock photo company. It could be: greenstock.com :D

Just have a thought for this how much more competitive it would also be. I'm earning about 28% commission at SS and 25% at FT. Now if a XL credit sale is $10, I'll get $2.5-$2.8. If I would get 70% then we could price it $4! Good for us and buyers :D

SS:$10 -> $2.8
GreenStock: $4 -> $2.8

Just fast thoughts. Of course there is lots of moneyholes in a microstock business, but what I've seems SS, FT and IS are making big bucks from our asses.

I need greenstock!

Have a nice mothersday.

For me OD seems pretty normal.

OD earnings / total earnings

2014:
Jan 33%
Feb 23%
Mar 26%
Apr 31%
-----------
May 25%

Seriously, he should have a notification of what is going on.

To take earnings back with no explanation would be utterly atrocious.

Yes, this seems pretty interesting. I've send them support ticket, but it takes ages to get a response.

Just a moment ago my balance was $104-$105 and now it\'s -$30.45.

Anybody else having same problems?

There shouldn't be any clawbacks today and if there is, mine isn't that big.

Probably for future clawbacks  ;D

Maybe someone just paid their dinner bill from my account :D

I had my first sale in microstock scene from fotolia and it said "File Sold" <- GOOSEBUMBPS then. Now I'm only losing my hairline with iStock :D

I suggest you to go to SS forums Critique area. It helped me a lot in the beginning.

I have

- iMac 27" 2011 2.7ghz i5 8gb ram
- 2011 MBP13" 2.4ghz i5 8gb ram

Both works well with adobe illustrator. When I edit photos with lightroom, 8gb sometimes is the problem. If I have anything else going on at the same time, both computers comes sick slow.

I still never would go back to windows as they suck so bad in my opinion. It's not about the hardware, but the windows. I'm too newbie and lazy to build a hackintosh.

Next time I'll buy a new 27" iMac with 32gb ram. Or then I'll just upgrade now to 32gb.

I don't know if this is any relevant to this, but one of my best sellers was red hot for the first 6 months (~500 downloads) and then all of a sudden it dropped overnight almost to zero. Now it has like 50 downloads for 12 months.

I've seen this 6-month-doomswitch also with my other images on fotolia. For me Fotolia is a great earner, but when the overnight drop hits, it's really killing my hairline.
