Don't quite think DT got their wording right on the homepage...

"Help charities fight the war against Ukraine!"

"2019: Getty Images introduced Market Freeze, simplifying exclusivity of rights-managed images. Later that year, it announced that due to customers' needs changing, it plans to phase out rights-managed imagery by 2020 in favor of royalty-free images"

2018: Getty wonders if stealing name and substance of "Market Freeze" from Stocksy will be noticed...

I have many thoughts on this, but I'm best to keep them to myself.

Scamming con-artists until the end.

Adobe Stock / Re: 1099
« on: February 04, 2022, 17:16 »
I got my 1099 for Adobe Stock; my problem is that they never actually paid me! Why should I pay taxes on my meager earnings if I haven't even been paid by them yet? -- I have small ports at a number of places & don't always meet the payment threshold, even over a year :-\ If they are sending a 1099, they should pay out whatever is there at the end of the year! (It can be all electronic at this point, so it's not like it costs them $ to do so.)

(& yes, mine says Fotolia also.)

If you do your accounting by "cash" instead of "accrual", don't worry about reporting it until you actually get it.

When you go to the page, start hitting "escape" repeatedly to stop the paywall from loading ;) .

In this case, it was their pastor "sending" the email wanting gift cards for someone in the church or something.  The writer actually did end up sending $400 worth of codes to them.

Adobe Stock / Re: Selling 3D content on Adobe Stock
« on: February 03, 2022, 18:52 »
Exactly, when you make the distinction between model and render, what do you mean?

A model is a geometry file - .obj, .ma, etc.  That's a no.

A render is an image file.  That's a yes.

108
It's ok to feed all their stock images to AI to do facial learning and stuff.  Something like that.

I'm pretty sure you just submit it like a photo.  I don't remember applying in any special way.

In addition, the higher pricing gives the buyer the sense that it is unlikely they will encounter many competitors using that same content in the wild.

Also, we have a pretty good customer service team that will help with research.

There are several of us here.  My main source of income comes from the 10K images I have online at Stocksy.

I joined the session of Mat today and asked the question to "Shea Molloy who is the Content Development Lead at Adobe Stock for Vectors and Illustrations", that if your free subscription runs out before the new one kicks in what to do?

Unfortunately, no reaction. Sorry, I tried but failed apparently :(

Kirsten Harris, in the comments, said there is a grace period that should tide you over.  I don't know if I recall that happening to me in the past.  When I complained about having to pay the interim month, though, they comped me half price.

From what site?

It's crazy.  Nowhere on the site does it actually say what you're "buying".  Not in the terms, the FAQ, the help, or anything.

Looks like I might make less than I did my first month Jan 2014.  Thats ten times less than my monthly peak.

These responses are not helpful.

Sorry.  You asked, I answered.

Hello,
Can we sell as NFTs your stock images that have been sold already many times on stocks sites?
Isn't the idea that when someone buys a NFT that the image is exclusive and never used before?
Thanks!

No.  "Buying" an NFT does not confer any rights at all.  Just "ownership" of that digital file.

So at the moment I can't say to someone with a standard RF license that they aren't allowed to sell an NFT of my work?

Of course you can.  An NFT implies that someone owns a digital photo, file or whatever and is transferring ownership to someone else.  These people dont own the work.  You do.  A license doesnt change that.

I ignore it and report my cash income as always.

122
I've already made four times as much on AS than SS.

123
No, that was SS support.  I don't waste time with the "experts".

124
In truly ridiculous SS news, apparently calendar images each year are now off the table because they are "too similar".  So, anyone needing 2022 or years forward will just have to use 2018 or something.

"Our policy for accepting similar content has been continuously evolving, although it is a different year indeed, the images are the same that were submitted previously. We aim to meet the needs of our customers who are looking for diverse content and the needs of our contributors who are producing a variety of images in one shoot. Please allow me to clarify the reason for these rejections.

I understand that previously some images were being accepted at a higher rate. Still, since we have updated our review policies, many of the new content uploaded might not be accepted as per the updates. To help you navigate this nuanced policy, we have prepared a Similar Content article. Among these updates, its highlighted that many of the rejections reasons now include the Similar Content review policy, which has stricter guidelines compared to the previous one we had in place."

When I pointed out the port in the first post to show how dumb this was, ....
"I understand your frustration. The portfolio you have reported had these images approved before the change in the similar content policy. The rules on what is considered to be content that is too similar to accept into our collection have been tightened to meet the ongoing customer demand for fresh content with variety."

Which is why I spend little to no time on SS.

125
I do own the rights to these images.

You actually have a contract that says there was a rights transfer?  Then yes.
