Okay, I received an email this evening asking me to verify my account at Shutterstock which I did.
Now here is the strange thing, I have been trying to get approval for the last three months and tonight it no longer is telling me that I need approval; just go ahead and upload. My next try was not to come till the 28th of this month.
Anyone else run into this? I'm going to give it a try and see what happens.  :-\

Well....I uploaded three files so I'll sit back and wait.

Could the e-mail be a spam? I dont mean to scare you, but have you considered the possibility that somebody was just trying to get your user names and passwords? ...Were you asked to do the "verification" by clicking on any link in the respective e-mail message (potentially bringing you to a site looking just like SS, but not being SS)?

I may be overcautious, but this really sounds strange...

If you have an establised account with an agency why would you have to verify by email sound phishy  I would change the password on your account :o

I tripled checked that a few times, logging off and back on and it is their site. Just to play safe I did change my password, fortunately there is no money in my account.
It still says that I'm waiting on the approval of my three photos, just seems strange that it let me bypass my initial approval.

rjphoto,

I have as well been awaiting my next application approval at shutterstock. My 2nd batch of photos shows that they were rejected, however, this time around I did not receive an email telling me to wait another 30 days.

I did notice that the "upload" section was still available to me. I have been continuing to upload more photos and they are showing as "pending" review. In response to those separate uploads (batches of 3-5 each), I've been receiving emails saying that they would be reviewed Mon-Fri during normal working hours etc ...

Perhaps they wanted more uploads to bolster the photo count here to close out the year?

I don't know ... I only hope I get my first approvals and that I get to start using SS like I've been hoping for months.

Unless SS policies have changed, for the approval process you need to submit 10 pictures, not 3, and 7 of these 10 (you can upload them separately) have to be approved in order for the account to remain active.

Right Berryspun ... and that is what has been done in the past.

What we're trying to say here is that there are things going on that are unusual, strange, or out of the ordinary ...

I've been through the normal process in the past, most recently a few days ago with my 2nd application of 10 images followed by rejection. It has been the case in the past for them to send an email and shut down your "uploading" capability for 30 days.

That is currently not the case ... which is strange.

Hi mwp1969,

Good luck with your upload. You may be right with them trying to acquire more photos and maybe they felt sorry for us poor souls who have been trying to get established.
I keep checking every few hours just to see if they come back and tell us...Sorry, due to technical issues you must resubmit 10 photos.

Let's hope the first of next week things take off

Xenia,
try using another browser just for the verification. I had the same problem once: verification
symbols/numbers were blurred on one browser and were seen much better on the other.

very interesting. I just uploaded a few to see what happens. Been rejected twice and still had a couple weeks to go for try 3.

I do believe that would be a tremendous gimick for them to get a temprary "spike" back into say 1st place for total number of images ... I wonder if they are approaching a magic threshold number that is important to their marketing ... or perhaps they're just in the "giving" mode for the holidays? Either way ... I hope I get my approvals in before I'm locked-out due to another batch of rejections ...

Hey mwp1969,

Have you heard anything on your uploads? It's been over a week, hope to hear something soon.

I went back in there today and the photos I had uploaded are still in "pending" approval status. I am still able to upload. It appears they've allowing uploads but may be stacking them up in the queue ... I don't know what they're doing.

I'm just prepared to wait another month ...

In the meantime, I will upload and replace those amongst my ten if I feel I have better new material as long as it allows me to upload. They may still need to review 10 so I think I'll keep it there ...

Mark
