it is a great way to link to everybody on the network..

it provides global search results on our sites and makes it a better option for customers..

http://symbiostock.info/about/

as well as linking within our smaller networks, it would be a great idea to allocate a network slot to http://symbiostock.info/

let's support our global search engine.. :)

Already done - almost as soon as it came out - have also been pushing the Firefox add-in for it to others to try and get them to use it as their "image search engine"

Great.. I actually didn't know until today that we can add symbiostock.info to our network.. it is good that customers can pick from nearly 100k images now.. symbiostock will soon become a legit force in the industry.. it is coming :)

I'd seen them on other websites but didn't get the Symbiocard until today.  They are added not only in my network but as a link in my footer.

Just turned on the network functions yesterday and added symbiostock.info to my network this morning.

Good idea. I allready had links to symbiostock.info in my About and FAQ but now I added one in the footer and added it also to my network.

How does that affect the search on my site in terms of how it shows on the page and speed? In other words, networking to 10 people with a total of maybe 30,000 images as opposed to the network with 90,000+ images? I thought the whole reason we are limited to 10 is exactly for that reason...too many might blow up the network ( words to that effect from Leo, IIRC).

I think i will wait and watch this for a while. I do have a link on my home page and intend on adding a link to cascolys database, too.

I'm not sure exactly what your question is referring to, but the symbiostock.info search is extremely fast.  I have added it to my search network and it doesn't seem to affect speed at all.

Sounds like a great idea to add the Symbiostock.info card to our individual sites.  If fact, if you do this would there be a need to add individual site symbiocards since presumably just about everyone would be on the Symbiostock.info list and you would presumably already be networked with them?

I would continue to network with individuals in addition to adding symbiostock.info to your network. I just enabled the network a couple days ago and can already see the increased traffic from spiders and bots crawling my site that came from the people who have included me in their network so far. I imagine that anyone I've linked to is seeing the same activity coming from my site. Once we start seeing buyers in numbers this activity will be mirrored by actual paying customers.  Just like Leo envisioned, a bee moving from flower to flower within the networks.

OMG, that is awesome. I never realized we could add the global link! I just did and moved it to the top of my networked list.
This is GREAT AND NECESSARY for customers so they don't have to keep clicking links to try to find an image which may or may not be on a linked site.

EVERYONE NEEDS to do this!!!!

Ok, now is there a way to make the results show as a large grid instead of a single row?

There is no harm in supporting the global search.. it could only be good in the end.. there is no taking without giving.. :)

I wonder that too..

Btw I suggest keeping your other network contacts there as well..

It is still good to give each other any extra boost.. :)

the downside will be getting lost - take a look at the most popular keywords http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=401  even with combinations it's already a lot of images to show.   I like the idea of an integral global search, but we need to start planning & designing ways to refine the search

eg, using descriptions in the search is hazardous -- eg, yesterday I was doing a global search for 'birds' and ended up with some cat images because they had "may be hunting birds" in the description.  perfectly apt description, but not likely to be what the searcher would be looking for

Works great as far as I can tell.  No problems in general or issues of slowing our site.

added the global search to my network.   Works great. Now less "blanks" found when doing a search.

Done. It seems to make up its own mind as to what position it shows up in though. I added it to the top of my list, but it will show up in different places depending on the search. No biggie though.

I seem to remember that the different sites show up in the order of the search speed so they will often vary

which version are you using?  robin eliminated the networking aspects of symbiostock in his version

NB: robin has previously indicated any networking in his new version of symbiostock will be only for sites he hosts for a monthly fee

meanwhile symbiostock.info and http://cascoly.com/symbio/symbiostock-network.asp  continue to be free global searches for original symbiostock sites

wow! thank you for your replies, It's surprising to see a separation in an application that is supposed to unite us all against the agencies. I think there has been a division too soon.

So for a newbie like me, I don't have any option sure? because I have to wait for the new version or perhaps search for and outdated plugin?

the original symbiostock is still available, and at least 150 active sites are using it with no problems-.  these are the sites that are linked in the symbiostock global searches.
not sure which other dl sites might still have it, but you can download the original symbiostock free plugin from my website at http://cascoly.com/symbio/symbiostock.zip  .  I can also can also provide licensed versions of the pro plugins Leo wrote

Than you for your replies.

I tried to install the version you told me but it's not working:

The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.

Plugin install failed.
