Which tier do you usually use for video pricing at 123RF?
The differences between them seem too wide to get a good price. Tier 1 is HD: $65, 4K: $130, which seems reasonable for HD but too cheap for 4K. But Tier 2 is HD: $90, 4K: $330, which is a decent price for HD but the 4K version of that is much higher than other places. The tiers are missing a reasonable middle ground.

I use tier 2, the middle tier. I did get one sale once at the highest tier, about $120 net but decided against setting all video on this tier as it seemed very expensive

I don't think Tier 3 is practical for "average" footage. I'd probably only use that for extremely niche footage where buyers had few other choices.

I price most at Tier 2, except for generic, simple clips that are one of thousands, which I price Tier 1.

I price tier 2, because 4K is indeed too cheap at tier 1.

I rather price too high than too low. Besides, today I received a 1080p video sale for $26.64, which at 35% translates to a total price of $76.11...That means it was only $0.84 per credit. Why the huge discount?

Are you guys actually seeing video sales on 123RF?  I'm just starting out so wondering if it's worth it... then I need to consider those tiers.

I have had 1 sale this year, so if sales continue in this pace 2017 will be my best year ever!  ;D
In other words, don't bother.

I've made one sale at $3.50 so far this year, and $70 last year. I agree the pricing difference is a bit weird... next tier up your HD content is increasing by less than 50%, but your 4K is increasing by over 100%? Something's not quite right there!

However, I think a 100% increase for 4K is about right. I appreciate it's four times the pixels, and the cost of cameras, storage, rendering, transferring and uploading are all more... but a 400% increase in price is a bit excessive.

I appreciate it's not the best example, and there would be economies of scale, especially with so much making up a movie which doesn't involve shooting and editing.... but if a producer presented a budget to the studio for $200m, and they say that they'd like them to shoot it in 8K instead of the 4K they usually go for, and the producer says the budget would then be $800m instead... they'd get laughed out of the office.

Sure, if you only sell one clip, then you need that increase to account for the increase in cost. But if you only sell it once, is it worth shooting it in the first place?

If it cost you 5 minutes of rendering time (if you're doing animations) and 2 minutes of keywording, then yes, yes it is.

I'd like to see any clip that takes 7 minutes to make including keywording.  ;D My guess is it wouldn't be accepted even by the ftp program...

---

4k pricing really puzzles me as I think a 50% increase compared to HD is more reasonable.

That being said, 123rf is not a site that sells a lot of footage (yet). However, Shutterstock has really exploded these last couple of days. Anyone else experiencing this?

Well, I have thousands of those in my portfolio. So, your guess is wrong. :)

It takes you seven minutes to find a subject, shoot it, transfer the file to your computer, edit it, render it, upload it and keyword it. Are all your clips of your mouse, your computer and your keyboard?

I said animations. Maybe if you actually read what I wrote before trying to be snarky, it would have been more effective.

And I'm not adding "uploading time" to the equation, because this is not something that I do, technically. I would add it if it was a limited resource and I had other stuff to upload, but as I don't, uploading times don't matter, I just start the queue in filezilla and continue with other business as usual.

So it takes you less time to animate a video than it does to shoot a video? I'd love to know your secret!

I'll write a blog/book about it - when/if I earn more than 50k$ this way. :D

Is 123RF still reviewing videos? My uploads have been pending forever now.

What makes it more annoying is they have an FTP quota, so once you hit that you can't upload anything new until they process something. My uploads there are months behind the other agencies.

If it gets to a few months, drop them an email. They'll probably say it's normal due to the number of submissions etc... but then they'll miraculously get approved in the next few days. Like they've forgotten about them, but didn't want to admit they'd forgotten about them.
