Im now quite sure my photos are no longer reviewed by a human but by a digital programme. I uploaded about 40 pictures over the last week, all in batches of 3 or 4 pictures, and they were reviewed within one (ONE!) minute or two minutes, but never waiting for more than two minutes for review. And all got rejected. Several reasons, always the same reason for the whole batch. Im quite sure no human was involved in that process. So I now stopped uploading. A rejection rate of 100 % makes me step out now. And the other agencies (Bigstock, Dreamstime, Adobe, iStock, deposit) all had no problems with those pictures and accepted them. Thats GOODBYE Shutterstock for me.
Oh I nearly forgot: I uploaded 4 editorial pictures (same settings as the non editorial, but with tourists in it I have no release for). Those pictures took about 3 days to be reviewed and were all ACCEPTED!!! - so there a human was involved I guess).

I defenately give up with SS for now. My 95 % approval rate changed to 95% rejection rate over the last 10 days.
Most images were rejected for "lens dust" and I removed every oh so small spot I could discover, uploaded the images for a second time and then got a rejection for poor quality instead ( "using auto-focus or poor camera sensor"). Well , I work with a Sony A7RII with a 42 MP full frame sensor. If this is a poor sensor I simply give up with SS.

Given your username I'm guessing that your port is mostly images of flowers?
Ah, sorry, thats not my username, thats my real name *rofl* and has nothing to do with photographie Well, there is an occasional flower amongst my pictures but mostly its everyday subjects, Berlin editorial, travel pictures and magical stuff. My best selling picture is in fact a steam locomotive......

Cant say anything about CANstock since they rejected my application My pics have no potential for sale they told me. *rofl* The only agency that ever rejected my application. So they must have quite different buyers compared to ADOBE and SS cause my pics sell quite well with those two agencies....

Nearly all of my submissions over the past week were rejected for "visible sensor or lens dust". Those were new pics I took last weekend but also older pictures from a year ago. Those have been accepted by all other agencies with no problems. At normal 100 % I cant even discover any dust. Just at even higher resolutions and a very harsh contrast I was able to discover very few and small spots. Never had that before. There must be somebody out there with a magnifying glass searching at 600 % on altered pictures. If this continues Ill stop uploading to SS.

I always loose a few keywords with SS. I tag my pics with exactly 49 keywords each (in LR). After uploading I often discover that my SS pics only have 45 oder 46 keywords. Seems a normal policy with SS.

Got an answer from AGEfotostock in the mean time telling me
- they are sorry they uploaded my pictures under a wrong copyright name (but did not change it to the right name til now) - that I cant terminate my contract before december 2022 (full three years) - my pictures will remain online for 6 more months after december 2022 - I cant have any pictures deleted - yes, they do work with affiliates (they call them distrubutor) but wont tell me which (so I have no bloody idea who is selling my pictures) - I cant opt out of that affiliate programme nor choose any affiliates
My resumee after all of that:
be beware of the spanish AGEfotostock
You loose all control of your rights and pictures and they might even sell them under a different copyright name.

As long as the copyright holder (photographer) himself does not tell us the pic was misused without buying a license I assume the license was paid for and there is no misuse.
As we all (hopefully) understood this is NOT an iStock image but a plain picture (hopefully bought) which later on was altered with a watermark assuming it was an iStock picture. And buyers have the right to alter pictures as we all know....

I didnt laugh either, I thought it was stupid. Wonder if the copyright holder thought it was funny.
So whtats the problem when you sell your picture to a humorous page and they make a funny joke of it? As a stock photographer you never know what will happen with your sold pics and in what context they will be used.

Although this isnt april 1st I find that article quite funny. It reminds me of all the obejects I am (as a photographer) are not allowed to phtograph because some brand or architect or whatsoever holds the rights on that object (like Eiffeltower at night, Sydney opera house, german ICE trains, etc etc).
So the point is somebody (iStock) now holds the rights on Mt. Rusmore. Good point.

I had files on the Deposit uploading account (which I uploaded via picworkflow) queueing for ages and not beeing moved further to the inbox. I then started uploading to Deposit with an FTP uploader (File Zilla) and that works perfect. Files go smoothly to the uploaded box nearly the same minute I upload them.

I have a strange decline in views since beginning of december....... I usually had about 800 views per month and it suddenly dropped to something like 300... Over the last 4 days there were only 15 views of my pictures.....
Has anybody else noticed something like that as well?
I mean I dont really sell much stuff on Alamy anyway but if nobody even views my pics I might opt out as well......

I never got mine (or it went into SPAM). i just sent them a mail at customer service and got my code. Was very easy to use on my existing account.

-They have some serious issue with the "non licensable content":
Had a complete series of graveyard pics rejected as "non licensable" last weekend. I submitted more of that series nearly a year ago, and it was no problem, and they do sell quite good. Now I wanted to add more of them and the were rejected as "non licensable"

I earned the unbelieveable amount of 59 Dollars for one picture in december on Deposit!!! (so the buyer must have paid around 166 Dollars for my picture). I had only a very few sales with less than 3 $ altogether on Deposit before and couldnt believe my eyes when the mail came in telling me I earned 59 Dollars Made the payout right away and got the money just before christmas

That differs- sometimes agencies are very slow and it takes up to a month for review, sometimes they accept pictures while Im still uploading the batch.... Dreamstime and Bigstock are usually very quick. And at the moment Shutterstock is very quick as well- I cant upload as fast as they review.... The worst I contribute to is several agencies (like Pixta) I contribute to via Zoonar. They havent reviewed pictures for more than six months....

I started submitting to EyEm and discovered that problem after two days as well. I was able to upload all kinds of pics of other useres making a screen shot. I then decided I do not want this for my pictures- deleted all my pictures and left EyEm for good.

The rejections on shutterstock are ridicolous sometimes, but you will have to live with the decision without getting too angry... I even tried to discuss decisions twice but it did not help at all. With shutterstock I have the feeling they often (not always) only accept pics with the focus in the middle of the photo. So when I take a pic of a subject which fills the whole space and the main focus (like a head) is in the upper third of that pic it gets rejected as "the main subject is not in Focus". Have to live with that.....
