Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia no longer accepting contributor accounts
« on: December 05, 2016, 11:13 »
Once the contributor portal was launched we stopped accepting contributor accounts at Fotolia. Those of you that were already Fotolia contributors can still log in and use the Fotolia UI as before.

Cheers!

Some of our contributors noticed an unusual spike in sales yesterday. The increase wasnt related to the promotion targeting a subset of Fotolia buyers in some geos .

We added the credits after discovering a technical issue that made it necessary to make a positive adjustment to some accounts.  The underlying issue was limited in nature and has been fully resolved.

We take our commitments to our contributors very seriously. We sincerely apologize, appreciate your partnership, and look forward to seeing new content contributions from all of our contributors.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Fotolia -- where to start?
« on: December 02, 2016, 14:38 »
I'm sorry if this has been asked, but i'm a relatively new contributor overall, and i'd like to start getting my photos and video on adobe/fotolia but it's just not clear where to start.  Do i register and upload with fotolia, and then my work will get posted to adobe, or do i just start off fresh with adobe and bypass fotolia, if that's even possible.
thanks for the help.    :)

Hi @Chicago,

We are no longer accepting contributor accounts at Fotolia. To get started visit contributor.stock.adobe.com

You will need an Adobe ID. If you don't already have one you can create one for free. The first time you sign into the portal you will be asked if you have an existing Fotolia account. Select no and you should be all set with the new account. All of your approved content will be put online at Adobe Stock and in a mirrored Fotolia portfolio.

All of your sales from both sites will be reported and paid through your contributor portal.

Kind regards,

Mat Hayward

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe/FT 2.69 for a footage ?
« on: December 01, 2016, 14:49 »
Hi there, my name is Dennis Radeke and I am the Content Development Manager for for motion for Adobe Stock.

As you probably know, Adobe purchased Fotolia as a way to establish a strong presence in the stock content marketplace.  Fotolia continues to have strong sales and is slightly different than Adobe Stock.

In the case of video, Adobe Stock currently offers two products to sell (4k, HD) and Fotolia offers five (4k, 1080, 720, 480, 240).  The lower resolution and frame size comes with a lower cost.

If you received a lower royalty, then it is due to a smaller sized clip that was purchased.  Ultimately, having the two marketplaces today offers our contributors two unique offerings in which to publish and promote their content.

I hope this helps!  8)

You should ask Leaf for a Verified stamp so we know that you are actually an Adobe Stock representative. A whole lot of people here don't bother posting under their own name, so it is difficult to tell whether someone is who they say they are.  :)

But your explanation makes perfect sense!

I can vouch for him Cathy...Dennis is the real deal and he is working very hard to make contributing video content to Adobe Stock a successful endeavor for everyone.

Adobe Stock / Promotion for Fotolia customers to try Adobe Stock
« on: November 29, 2016, 14:55 »
We wanted to let our contributor community know that we are running a promotion in the US, UK and Australia/New Zealand to offer a subset of our Fotolia customers to try an Adobe Stock plan and convert their Fotolia credits to standard licenses.

The transfer of credits to standard licenses requires the purchase of an Adobe Stock plan. The royalty you earn for licenses will initially be $0.99 per image, with each image during the promotion representing one converted credit. Soon thereafter, we will move to pay a royalty at 33% of the image price based on the specific, undiscounted product that was purchased by the buyer. For reference, based on some of the most popular Adobe stock plans, the small image plan of 2 images per month will earn you $3.30 in royalties for each sale. Licenses from the 10 images a month plan pay out at $0.99, and sales from a large subscription plan with 350 or 750 images a month guarantee a minimum payout, which is $0.25 - $0.40 based on your Fotolia rank. We'll be monitoring royalties and payouts closely to keep a careful eye on the success of our contributors.

The Fotolia website remains a primary destination for our clients and well continue to serve them. In parallel, since many clients use Adobe products and appreciate the benefits of integration, we want to provide an opportunity with the promotional offer to experience the full set of features of Adobe Stock plans, such as our extended range of asset types (Premium, 4k Video, 3D, templates), content at all price points, integrated workflows, and many more.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Contributor Portal update

Thanks Mat

This didn't work for me - first, there aren't enough characters in the keyword box and so it truncates the list of keywords, and then pressing Tab only moved the cursor to the next keyword box. It didn't distribute them.

Steve

This has been fixed Steve. You can now enter all fifty keywords into the top box (separated by commas not semi-colons) and hit tab to distribute them all. I just tested it and it worked well. Let me know if you have any issues.

Hi Mat

It was a semi colon because the system I used to sort the keywords stored them like that. As you know, I can't do that in Lightroom. The semi colon works in the Fotolia contributor page so I've done it that way.

Steve

I didn't realize the semi-colon doesn't work in the contributor portal. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I have reported this and I expect it will be addressed by the engineers within the next few weeks.

I will get back to you soon regarding the character limit in the keyword box. Thanks for the helpful feedback.

Hi Steve,

Are you separating the keywords with a comma? I'm looking into the character quantity issue you mentioned.

Mat

I tried to prepare some video for submission in the Adobe site - I couldn't see any way of simply copying all my keywords into the form. When I tried to do that into one of the keyword boxes, they all stayed in that one box (they were separated by semi-colons). In the Fotolia indexing page, I can just copy my keywords in and they are all recognized as separate keywords.

Steve

Hi Steve,

After you copy your keywords into the top box you need to hit the 'tab' key to distribute them to their own individual boxes.

Are you sure that the first seven are key to search success?

Yes, for sure. Everyone I have talked to that has anything to do with the search tools has affirmed to me there is a distinct priority placed on the first 7 in the results.

@Pureart, the Adobe Stock search engine is different from Fotolia.

Thanks. Should we still move the most important keywords to the beginning of the list?

Yes, that is still the same. The most relevant keywords must be listed in the first 7.

Mat, does Adobe Stock use the same search engine as Fotolia? Or you created the new one?

@Pureart, the Adobe Stock search engine is different from Fotolia. We are continuously fine tuning our efforts to return highly applicable results.

Newbie Discussion / Re: similar images
« on: November 15, 2016, 15:02 »
I checked your account and found quite a few images from this series that were approved. There were a large number of images with very subtle changes to composition. To be accepted there needs to be a tangible, added value to one image when compared to another.

It's one of the most difficult challenges I personally face as a photographer...determining which image to delete. The reality is, if you submit 50 images from the same series of the same subject, the moderation team has an obligation to be selective in what is accepted. You will be better off determining for yourself which are the best with the highest sales potential as opposed to leaving it in the hands of the reviewer. It's a big pain-point for customers to find too much similar content in the search results. If you had only submitted the two examples shown with the different pasta I'm confident they both would have been accepted. However, there are other images you had submitted that the examples are very similar too. Taking that same scene, with the same product and zooming in or out a bit or shifting to the left or right subtly is not enough of an added value to justify acceptance in my opinion.

Kind regards,

Mat Hayward

Hi All,

Just a quick note as a reminder that we are still accepting hard drives for video content. We have had a good level of interest and I want to make sure this option stays fresh on your mind.

Kind regards,

Mat

Adobe Stock & Fotolia are offering a mail-in option for hard drives with video content. We know it can take quite a bit of time to transfer large amount of data over a FTP connection, and we want to make it as easy as possible to submit your video content to us.
If you are an existing videographer who has at least 500 HD (or better) clips that are ready for submission, email us at [email protected] to arrange to have a hard drive sent to one of our office locations. Please include your location, the amount of content you have (number of clips and size in GB), your existing Adobe Stock or Fotolia account information and the category your content falls under (Lifestyle, Nature, Business, etc.)

Requirements for hard drive submissions:

    500 or more clips
HD 1080 or 4k frame size
Files must comply with our video specifications
Have appropriate metadata embedded into each clip or a single CSV file with all necessary information that matches with the number of videos being submitted.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Best time to post for Christmas
« on: November 02, 2016, 13:47 »
I was wondering if someone can help me figuring out how the timing works in posting vector art especially on SS.
First what is the best time to start posting art for holidays. So if Christmas is in 25 dec. i was thinking starting from 20/25 nov . Is this ok or is too soon.
Is there an accepted formula for all holidays or all have their timings?

I m fairly new at this and i appreciate any help. Thank you!

In my personal opinion, 8-12 weeks prior to the holiday is ideal. If you have Christmas content you are holding on to, I would recommend uploading and submitting it today.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Contributor Portal update

At Adobe Stock and Fotolia we are selling content from contributors around the world to a global community of buyers. The royalties earned are based on the purchase price of an image in the local currency. We are keeping an eye on currency fluctuations, and if there is a major and sustained trend in currency conversion rates we take action to adjust. At this time we dont have plans to adjust the GBP conversion.

Kind regards,

Mat Hayward

Dear Mat Hayward,

(This is a copy of my message from "Adobe Stock Contributor Site now live!", because that thread was closed, but no answer received.)

Currently 1 EUR = 0.9 GBP. But when I convert my credits at Fotolia (Adobe Stock) the rate is 0.75. It means: I earn 100 credits = 100 EUR and should get 90 GBP via Paypal, but Fotolia (Adobe Stock) sends me 75 GBP only.

This way all the UK contributors lose 15 GBP from every 100 credits (90 GBP) earned. It is a hidden 17% fee.

Why so? When are you going to fix the rate? Will you update it weekly to reflect the actual rate?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

When you are logged into the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal you will see a large blue circle on the upload page.

Under that circle is a link that will take you to your ftp credentials.

-Mat

1244
Do they return the HDD?

Yes, the hard drive will be returned.

-Mat

That is going to depend on the number of drives in the queue and where you would be shipping the drive. It will be difficult to speculate on an exact time frame. My politicians answer is "as quickly as possible."

-Mat

What is the estimated time to return the drive? I'd like to send the drive to multiple agencies, but it's an unnecessary cost to buy a new 2TB drive for every agency, so it'd be good if I knew that I can do it with minimal delay.

Yes, the hard drive will be returned.

Adobe Stock / Adobe Stock Contributor Portal update
« on: October 20, 2016, 07:48 »
Hi all,

I wanted to let you know about a couple of updates that have been done to the Adobe Stock Contributor portal.

The price for Extended licenses will now be automatically set to the maximum available based on your Fotolia rank. This impacts silver rank and above as your prices will be set at 100 credits for Fotolia sales when you upload through the portal.

Another nice change...you will find thumbnails showing your images in the sold files tab now.

Thanks so much for all of the feedback you have shared with us so far. Please keep it coming as we have a strong team working to make the contributor experience even better!

Hi,

Is it necessary to connect my Fotolia account with Adobe stock? Is possible to increase sales on Fotolia? Are my pictures after upload to Fotolia automatically also on Adobe stock for sale, even though I have not both accounts linked with each other ?

Hello @hamik,

No, it is not necessary to link accounts. If you had an existing Fotolia account prior to the launch of the portal you can continue to manage your account as normal through Fotolia. All of your approved content is mirrored at an Adobe Stock portfolio as well.

-Mat

Thanks again for the helpful information. I have been able to confirm that this is a display issue only. There is no impact on your submissions, sales, tax rates, etc.

- For sales and personal information not showing, if you refresh the page after landing on it, the correct data should be displayed.

- As for the Fotolia tax form not displaying as synced....again, this is just a display issue. If your tax form is valid at Fotolia, it still applies to your sales at Adobe Stock as well.

I am told this display issue will be resolved within the coming month. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly if you come across anything else unusual.

Kind regards,

Mat Hayward
