I bought two of the magazines today and the article looks great.A twp page spread with quotes and three photos from my istock portfolio.Neat.

The stock agencies love images of children.Designers love images of children.Good money can be made from shooting children.If you need the money you take photographs of your children 
I believe you can make money from other sources.That's really the point i'm trying to make !
You seriously talk some crap sometimes Shank. Most kids I know would much rather stand in front of a camera, than mow the lawn, wash the dishes, make beds, or do a paper round but you go ahead save some money, make your kids do the chores instead of employing somebody else to do it.
What is an hour or two here and there getting your photos taken when it means better holidays, and a better lifestyle in general?
Oh i see where your coming from now.You bribe the kids to pose by giving them no chores that week.If the image sells they get a nice holiday and a better lifestyle. Lets hope a child can still flourish without having a camera following him/her growing up !

http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk So i'm walking along Brighton beach,during the Istockphoto London Lypse, minding my own biscuits when i get chatting to a guy.He works for Amateur Photographer magazine.We get chatting about microstock/Istock and he asks me if i would be the subject for an article.I gave Mr Richard Sibley my business card and thought nothing more about the conversation. A couple of weeks ago he contacted me and asked a few questions.The upshot was today he sent a PDF file with a two page spread that's been published in this weeks magazine.Richard very kindly bought three images from my portfolio to accompany the article.I look forward to buying the magazine tommorow. I'm well chuffed

sorry but I didnt saw many advices from you about the subject, seem that you want everybody talk and time to time drop a bomb 
My advice is always the same..be true to yourself and dont be afraid to stand on any cracks in the pavement.Live a little and laugh alot

Uh, yeah, I do that too. Heaven forbid it end up in a Snapfish or Costco ad.

come on Mat your last response wont fly.Photo albums off our children will always exist.More so with mobile phones and cool point and shoot cameras.
Are you suggesting your children will be able to look on the web and see themselves growing up later in life !

I have the all in one Dell photo 924.Basic but has been doing a fine job for a couple of years.Ink was expensive when bought from Dell but now the cartridges are copied and sold cheaper.
Anyhow i upgraded my PC,running windows 7, awhile back and had alot of trouble getting my printer in sync.A bit of research and i'm now sorted.I needed the 64 bit driver used on the Vista system.Once i uploaded that to my PC the printer is now working fine.
Anyone else had compatablility trouble with there printers .

I had 4 when the collection went live.I took them out because i thought the price too high.Now i have changed my mind because of the extra exposure the collection gets on Getty Images.I now have two...
I would imagine if a file sold well before going into the Vetta collection,it's a good indication of its usefulness,it would still continue to sell because it's still useful even at the higher price !

I have a two year old daughter. Like every father, I think she is the cutest girl in the world and she has been my favourite subject for photography these last two years. And - even without the biased viewpoint of a father - there are certainly a good number of shots of her sitting on my harddrive that would make some money in stock.
Still I don't upload them, simply because I don't want to see the face of my daughter anywhere where I can't control it. It's just a matter of personal choice. And it helps a lot if you don't do it (photography) for a living...
Bravo.I share those sentiments.It's too easy for photographers who have children to use them as models and earn money. The bottom line is that our off spring are subjects that designers want in a variety of shots.Education /playing/ ect ect.It's that demand that will continue to drive photographers to photograph there own children. Sad but true !

Absolutely true in every aspect, Lisa. However, to be frank I thought you made on a regular basis 4 figures at SS - and I am the one who's happy when I get them and surely most annoyed when I miss them by a few bucks.
I do get 4 figures regularly, but unfortunately low 4 figures. I just meant I am happy to be earning that - although I can see how my choice of wording was confusing.
See this is my experience. With SS, you get rewarded, if you upload good, solid relevant stuff, it pays off, some will sell instantly and it will give you a platform to stand on, you can build with SS.
IS, its the complete opposite, you get punished for success, punished for being independant and punished for good relevant material, hence the generic Vetta rubbish that nowdays show up in every search.
You cant build with IS, the staff is edgy and nervous walking on a borderline of getting the boot or keeping their jobs which makes the whole thing tremble in its foundations.
