I had a look at the Mini 3 and Air 2S to replace my aging Mavic Pro 2 but decided on keeping the older tech but bigger sensor. Even the Mavic Pro 2 raw files have a fair amount of noise in the shadows - I find processing the raw files using DXO 6 and its noise reduction Deep Prime XD does an excellent job to make files look great free of noise (takes around 15mins to process per file on a 2020 macbook pro).
Have you tried noise stacking on your Mavic 2 Pro (taking a burst of photos and then averaging them in PS)? It did wonders on my Mavic 2 Pro files - the noise went away almost completely
No, I haven't, but thanks for the tip. So far I've not experienced that much noise, and the little there has been has been easily dealt with by Topaz. I usually shoot in decent light conditions though, and haven't had to deal with low light issues in post yet.

Thanks, Richard. I have to say I'm also pretty happy with the image quality out of the Mavic Pro 2, when the camera size is taken into account. A bit in post and some Topaz Denoise, and everything I've submitted so far has been approved. That said, I haven't done much video, mainly stills.

Every country has different rules in regards to drones. Rarely does the actual weight of the drone make a difference and at times it does.
Quoted from FAA. "You will need to get a Remote Pilot Certificate ( RPC ) issued by FAA to fly your drone as the pilot in command ( PIC ) . The FAA does not currently recognize any foreign RPC or equivalent."
I am registered and certified in my country (Canada) but can't fly in America. I am currently travelling and got certified where I am, but the next country I am travelling to is a root canal to get a permit. I have noticed some countries make it more difficult for foreigners to fly.
In my view it's not worth the additional expense cause it's an either you can fly or you can't fly scenario.
Thanks - with the help of everyone here, I've come to the same conclusion. I will just fly in my home country, or in countries that make it easy for me to register online.

OK, thanks, so the smaller drone doesn't achieve me anything then, so not worth buying. I thought I might make my life a bit easier, but it seems there is no way round the registration if I travel to other countries. Australia do appear to make it difficult, at least certainly much harder than registering in my home country.
Thanks everyone - all your input has been really appreciated.

I would put my money on pigsinspace. Time is well overdue and looking at the non-responsive posts of Mat I would be highly surprised if Adobe would come up with something. Like someone else sort of said here, bring positive news shouting but shut up when there is bad news to bring. The silence of Adobe and Mat (who is being paid to convey Adobe's corporate message) kind of tells you what the outcome will be, right?
I'm starting to think the same, which is such a disappointment. I haven't been able to use the codes in the past, as they've been one app codes, and I use several from the whole suite. This time I would qualify for the whole suite based on the previous year's criteria, (5000+ downloads), so it would be just my luck that it gets scraped just in time for me to miss out again.

i've had stuff accepted with the mavic mini 1 - although I had to do some editing sometimes (because it was 'super shaky' at times... apparently they fixed that in the newer models).
I believe this is much improved in the 3, as is the object detection. Having gotten used to the images from the Mavic Pro 2, I just don't want to step back too far on quality. I know the images on the Mini are 12mp and, in theory plenty big enough for stock, but I've read that the edges are pretty soft. I just wondered whether, in the real world of uploading, the images are mostly getting approved or whether they only become acceptable after considerable post-processing.

Could Mavic 3 be an alternative for both drones? It depends where you want to travel to, but for example here in Europe it just got the C1 certification label and you don't need to keep distance from people any more, which makes flying much simpler. But it still has to be registered..
I am licensed and registered in my own country - I'm just trying to avoid jumping through hoops when travelling. A drone under 250g just makes things a lot more simple in this regard.

It's the registration that's causing the issue for my upcoming trip. The Australian Aviation website won't let me register in advance, and also insists that uploaded ID has to be certified by a solicitor before upload or that I get my ID certified on arrival. The Mini is small enough that it doesn't require registration, so makes travelling with a drone much easier, (provided the quality is there).

Mini 3 should be more than enough for microstock quality. Even smartphone photos get easily accepted for microstock, and they mostly have the same sensor size (and worse optics) than the Mini 3. But it also depends on light - if you want to shoot low light scenes (for example blue hour), the image quality will not be great. In that case you would be better of using your Mavic 2 Pro
Thanks Mike, I won't be taking the Mavic Pro 2 with me, as I've run into complications trying to register it for use with the local authority I'm visiting - hence the interest in the Mini, as it doesn't need registering. I'm just trying to decide whether it's worth splashing out on a second drone or not. It transpires that my current controller won't work with the Mini 3, so it's quite an additional outlay all round.

I have the DJI Mavic Pro 2, which takes great pictures but, due to the weight and registration issues for travel to foreign countries, I'm thinking about getting the DJI Pro Mini 3, as it's under 250g.
Does anyone have any experience of how the image quality compares? Is anyone using the Mini 3 for stock images or is it more just for fun?

Thanks for the reply. No, I just described the fall landscape with the fallen leaves. No area inclusion, either on the title or keywords and it's at a public park with no ticket entry. The rejection itself is not important, the reason is. Adobe probably has a kind of initial AI detection, judging from the note I might get some time on high ISO images, which if denoised get accepted. Maybe this time the photo did not get past AI?
If you didn't name the park, then it looks like an error. Maybe the reviewer just pushed a wrong button somewhere? I'd resubmit and see what happens next time.

Did you name a location that might be problematic? Royal parks? Val d'Orcia? Grounds of a Palace or ticketed location?
All of these can cause a rejection, even if there is nothing obvious in the image.

hi, i am considering starting to be a contributor on canvas, i have been contributor at two microstock agencies.
I want to know how much you usually get paid per download on canva? And can the images uploaded on Canva be uploaded in other agencies?
If you guys have any suggestions for a newbie contributor to canva, I'm excited to hear about them
Last time I checked they weren't taking new contributors. Has that changed?

I wouldn't be happy to be dropping in someone else's skies. Most sites require you to own the copyright to all elements you use.
Drop in your own!
Correct. I keep a folder of my own skies and cloudscapes and, in some cases I use them. Just depends. But I use my own is the point.
Yes, that's exactly what I do if needed. I have a whole file full of skies that I've been collecting over the years. I certainly wouldn't want to risk having my portfolio shut down by using someone else's photos.

@MatHayward
May I check a couple of points please?
I read in the instructions that keywords for a location shouldn't be included. What should I do if I am basing the generated AI on my own uploaded photo of a specific location. If the image is clearly of the Pyramids in Egypt or the Eiffel Tower, as an example, can these keywords be included?
If the AI software is used on my own image purely as a means of transforming it into a digital painting, does this still get submitted as AI content, or can it be submitted just a an illustration?
Thanks

Yes Pete, I had read the answer from Firn. But I don't know if that is the case with others - except Firn and me. Two people are not representative and can be a pure coincidence.
I guess you didn't recall that mine were also doing the same, old or new, everything with the keyword Christmas is at the end of Most Popular. How many people will it take, in different countries before you say it's not just some pure "coincidence"?
We need to ask more people to look at Catalog Manager > Most Poplar and see what's last on the last page. For me it's all my Christmas images.
So far the count on that is 3 for 3.
Same for me, and also for a couple of Stock friends that checked at my request. I wondered if the images were intentionally pushed back and would then be brought forward at an appropriate tine, but it seems somewhat late for that to happen. However, if it is the same for everyone, as I suspect it is, then it possibly balances out when someone searches for Christmas?

I remember initially when I researched adobe that when opening the account to choose the currency of the country you were in. After which it would remain as is. Can't remember the details but yeah conversion costs.
I joined when it was Fotolia and, if I recall correctly, the only options at the time were Euros or $US. As all my other sites paid in $US, I opted for this. I don't have an issue with being paid in $US, I just think Adobe should revisit the 1 credit = $1 = 0.75. The British pound almost hit parity with the dollar last week, so anyone being paid in the UK loses around 20% of their income. Over the last 5-6 years, the .75 rate has been reasonable, as the exchange has fluctuated largely between .70-.80, meaning that .75 has been a fair average for both parties. However, since June of this year, the rate has exceeded .80 and hit .95. If it stays this high for any length of time, then Adobe are big winners and the contributors are big losers. Linking the value of a credit to the real exchange rate, or at least having an annual revision, is not an unreasonable request, and I hope Adobe take note and take action.

I have exactly the same issues. Society6 is so painfully slow that I had stopped uploading since the update. I tried again today and it has still not improved. Might have to give up for a while again. At least some of the products are selling.
I've also largely stopped uploading. I sent in a video to support, and they said it was my connection, but I know it isn't. It's painful to upload via Safari browser, but I've experimented once or twice with Chrome, and that's a bit better - still super slow, but manageable if you feel the need to submit.

It's a shame, as the rate doesn't work in favour of UK contributors these days. My StockPerofrmer stats show me the value in $US each month, and it's annoying to see the exchange rate not being adjusted. Somewhere, it was stated that the rate was .75, (although I can't find it at the moment, so maybe that's a carry over from the Fotolia days), which ties in with the $ figure on StockPerformer. The current rate is .93, and even PayPal is letting me extract at over .89. EDIT I found the details: Payout occurs in one of the following currencies / $ / / PLN / 円 / SEK for accounts created prior to February 18, 2020. Regardless of your country of residence, the royalty is calculated based on the US purchase price of the file. Adobe uses credits to calculate the royalties with 1 credit = 1 USD = 1 Euro = 0.75 GPB = 7.10 SEK = 4 PLN = 150 Yen. https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/stock/contributor/help/getting-paid.htmlAdobe, will there be any moves to update this in view of the weekend British pound?

I know it's been discussed in the past, but recent events mean that, even after PayPal charges, contributors in the UK are currently losing about 14 per 100 based upon the Adobe conversion rate of .75.
Could we at least have a choice as to which currency we are paid in, so that we can control extraction of funds based upon exchange rates?

... I could't find anywhere in my settings to check whether the PayPal email had been changed without my knowledge, but the remittance email at least came out to the correct email address. ...
I think it is here https://accountmanagement.gettyimages.com/Account/Payment?
once you are logged into ESP
Thanks! It looks correct, so that' a relief. I guess I'll just have to wait until month end to see what's going on.
