Shutterstock.com / Re: IS accept photoes but SS reject due to inside of Building property release, why?« on: August 18, 2013, 21:34 »
I don't think Shutterstock shows if an image has a property release. I know they do for model releases. Unless they've changed that.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Should I Join SymbioStock??« on: August 18, 2013, 21:30 »
You can set whatever image you like to not be for sale. On the image page you can select not available in the drop down boxes in each image size. There are also areas for links you can put in if you are going to sell them elsewhere but if not you can just leave those blank.
A lot of us are just getting started (I'm about 3 weeks in). Like klsbear said since you've already got WP getting and activating the Symbiostock theme shouldn't be difficult. Dive in the waters fine ![]() 204

I hear ya. Last I uploaded was late July. Those files are starting to get seen but not as much as I would like. And that goes for all not just SS.

Symbiostock - SEO & Marketing / Marketing...what works?« on: August 18, 2013, 17:17 »
Looking into start marketing and rather than dragging up an old thread from late July thought I'd start a new one.
As independents I know it's on us to do our own marketing. Has there been anything that's worked or not worked since this was last talked about? I was thinking about running a Craigslist add but I'm not sure if potential image buyers would even think about looking at a site like that. The strategies we build now will help those thinking about getting started get a head start after they finish with building their site. I don't know much about marketing and any links to good, thorough articles from trusted sites would be most helpful. Thanks. Anita 207
Symbiostock - General / Re: Image Pricing?« on: August 18, 2013, 17:01 »
Aside from doing the SEO on the sites, we need to find ways to bring the buyers to us aside from the micros.
But this should probably be asked in the marketing sub-forum. 208
Symbiostock - General / Re: Registered user spam« on: August 18, 2013, 16:33 »
You basically won't until they try to post something in comments. I have two registered users right now and so far they haven't proven to be spammers yet...they also haven't purchased anything so who knows.
I will tell this though, when I had a php nuke site about a million years ago someone came on and registered and two to three months later then decided to spam my site. Leave them be unless they do something like spam posts. 209
Symbiostock - Network Building / Re: networking -- What are you looking for in a match?« on: August 18, 2013, 16:24 »
That's what I do. After upload and editing and category selection. Once I'm finished with it either for the night or finished completely I update.
Welcome to the SY world ![]() *edited to add* It updates on it's own once a day. But I'll still manually update it. 210
Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: My uploader disappeared today - was working after wp 3.6 update, now it's not« on: August 17, 2013, 17:40 »
Mine disappear too but I also got it back. I'm using SY 2.5.6 and WP 3.6.
I went to my themes activated Default. I then went back and activated SY then I went back and activated the Child theme and my uploader showed back up. That's what I did just in case you wanted to try that again before changing core files. 211
Symbiostock - SEO & Marketing / Re: Which Yoast sitemap to use for Google Webmasters« on: August 17, 2013, 14:27 »Impressions means you were listed on a search engine page. This indicates your seo efforts are working Cool that clears that up for me. Yeah Martha hopefully the first sale will stop those shenanigans. He keeps asking me nearly every day "You made a sale yet?" to which I reply "No, I'm working on it." He doesn't get that this takes time. I'm working on it slowly but surely and he has to realize that it's not an instant thing to be listed and searchable. 212
Symbiostock - SEO & Marketing / Re: have you submitted site map to bing?« on: August 17, 2013, 13:55 »
I found the area and blocked the same urls that are blocked on Google. I had to enter them manually as it wasn't already blocked like Google did.

Symbiostock - SEO & Marketing / Re: Which Yoast sitemap to use for Google Webmasters« on: August 17, 2013, 13:52 »
I do on my critter photos put in the scientific name and familiar name into the title and descriptions and have to edit in there where it was taken I noticed a few were missing. I'll get to them when I get to their SEO pages.
Right now I'm on page 8 of 28 and hopefully can get a big chunk (if not all) the rest of it done this week when the kids go back to school. I did see a little activity in my Google search query graph today though I'm not sure what the term impressions mean. 214
Symbiostock - SEO & Marketing / Re: have you submitted site map to bing?« on: August 17, 2013, 13:45 »
Looking around in their today it doesn't have any blocked url's like it does on Google i.e. block from being indexed.

Our kids go back to school this Monday. I don't know what an OD and SOD are anymore (I don't include ELs since those are rare for my port).
Managed to have a good day for a Friday and hard to stay optimistic that things will turn around after vacations and all kids are back in school. We'll see what happens through mid September. 216

Symbiostock - SEO & Marketing / Re: have you submitted site map to bing?« on: August 17, 2013, 03:13 »
Did you do that through a Bing webmaster tool? I couldn't find any of my stuff on Bing the other day (I just checked and they still don't) though Yoast says that they ping Bing as well as Google.
I'll look for the Bing webmaster tool and do the same. 218

Get in contact with your tech support where your site is hosted. They should be able to tell you whether you can have it installed or not.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Image Pricing?« on: August 16, 2013, 21:53 »
I've left mine all at the default pricing scheme and all I've seen with the sites I've looked at are either default or under. I don't think I've seen anything priced higher.
I do have things I'll be uploading after I get finished with the SEO part. Those will be individual and then I need to figure out the pricing to sell them as a zipped set. I don't think I have an individual file I feel would be worth $100 but that doesn't mean I can't come up with one down the road. 221
Symbiostock - General / Re: Symbiostock for Events?« on: August 16, 2013, 20:26 »
You do have the ability to change the prices individually when you edit your page. Course I'm not sure if there's a way to hide your event categories from other people aside from your client.

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: Should I update SY theme before updating to WP 3.6« on: August 16, 2013, 14:35 »
I've updated both now and all seems well. It took longer to perform the back up than it did to update.

Thanks for the insight. I'll work on it tomorrow after I backup my site and my database.
Hopefully this will run smoother than when I upgraded my hosting plan then my db went poof! They migrated the db without the content inside the tables. :/ |
