Started in 2009 and it took a straight nose dive in the Summer of 2013 and hasn't recovered.  I haven't submitted an image in about 2 years anywhere because of it.  Why put in all that work to not get any return back on your time, energy and money invested.  I've just been letting them sit there and take payout from places when I get to the minimum threshold.  I used to make payout on Shutterstock every month now it takes me 2-3 months just to reach that $35 minimum.

I've gone into other avenues of work (aside from my full time job) making music, audio engineering, making knit and crochet patterns and, if I'm desperate, click work.  I never viewed this as a full time income but a supplemental one to my job.  Just a way to make some extra money to set aside for emergencies or save up for a big purchase.  Now I can't even do that and I know I'm not the only one and that sucks.

Thanks Mat.  It's been a hot minute since I've been on here though (about 3 years give or take) and I must've missed the emails too OOPS!

Adobe Stock / Payout threshold has changed
« on: February 13, 2020, 19:15 »
I was checking my stock sites when I noticed Adobe took the threshold down to $25 via a little pop up.  Just wonder why there wasn't an email to contributors about this?

Same here.  I usually get that email by the 3rd of the month unless there was a holiday right before but Memorial day was a week ago so I don't think that's the reason...or is it?

Map is too small, it should be on the first page (on the top of it, not somewhere on the bottom).

Modern programming languages and frameworks allow to easily create responsive websites with movable page parts. It is simple to allow users to drag a map (or "top earners" or whatever) to the top of the page and rearrange all other parts as they wish. But this applies only for those website where developers care about the users.

First thing I tried to do was move things around but nope.  Would be nice that way I could put the relevant to me stuff at the top and the rest can just go to the bottom.

I just got hit with that too right after uploading total of 85 when I've got just under 2k.

I wish things would go back to how it was before summer of 2013 but I can only dream.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Anyone submitting audio ?
« on: May 20, 2016, 18:45 »
I think they will be in the pending state untill audio goes live.

If that's the case I'm wondering if I should even make more and upload there if the wait time is going to be months.

It would make more sense if they went ahead and reviewed them and held them in a not available for purchase state so the entire collection can go live once they open it up.

My measly 3 are still stuck in pending since May 6th.

I was going to ask on their boards how long the wait is and how long the queue is but apparently I can't post there at all.  what? :-\

Veer / Re: Veer closing
« on: March 04, 2016, 08:28 »
I just checked my dashboard which is up for me not sure if it's up for anyone else.  Yes Veer give me my whopping $.43  ;D

Maybe they moved the closing date up which is why everything's gone to pending?  Or they screwed up in the emails and are paying everyone on the 15th of this month?

Veer / Re: Veer closing
« on: March 01, 2016, 19:20 »
Well that explains why my request to cancel my account back in December went unanswered.  At least it will be gone and I can be rid of this one.   I won't be moving to iStock.  They didn't want me back in 2010 and I'm not looking to audition so I happily support the disappearance of Veer.

Agreed if they partnered with them why not fund it the rest of the way?  Also if it's not just for licensing images and they're going to use it for POD then I'm definitely not interested in this.  And the fact that they don't go over the commerce side of it seems underhanded to me since that's what most if not all of us would be interested in.

I already have something for WordPress that I'm probably going to change anyway to something else so also not thrilled with that.

And if I wanted a gallery I can make my own.

I found this in my inbox after work this morning.  Not sure exactly what it all means I skimmed through it.  After an 8 hour shift I'm exhausted.  Here's the text:

Dear User,

We are happy to announce that Depositphotos is now collaborating with the Defrozo marketing platform launched recently on Kickstarter, becoming an Official Integrated Partner.

Defrozo is a free marketing platform, performing an all-in-one service for photographers. With the aid of the Defrozo service, you can showcase your photography, organize your workflow, manage your clients, sell prints, and discover growth hacks tailored specifically to photographers.

To turn this project into reality, Kickstarter launched a fundraising effort on March 17, and during the first week Defrozo collected 31% of the $50,000 it needs.

Together with Defrozo, we are striving to provide new business opportunities for photographers and customers, increase the quantity of high-quality content, and help clients get fast and easy access to creative and artistic works.

Best regards,
Depositphotos Team

Not sure what exactly this means for contributors and what kind of partnership it is.  Is it good?  Is it bad?

I look forward to your thoughts.

Anita

Trending searches - the first was adorable doormouse. Really?

Speaking of adorable doormouse just had a download of one of my images and that was the keyword that was present o_O. I know buyers use a keyword then hunt around the site but I thought that was hilarious.

Are you making sure that when your editing after upload that you select yes in the drop down box for is this an illustration?

16
It seems to have stopped doing that today. Frustrated haven't had a sale there since 9/16. They need to quit fiddling with sheet that's for sure.

I digress, but only slightly. I guess I wondered why they were messing with the contributor interface instead of doing something more useful.

Exactly like bringing the contributors more sales for one.

This has been happening to me off and on all day today.  That area at the right of the top of the main page I now have to click on a little arrow next to my name to see my stats?  What's the point with that aside from to be annoying.

I dont think this is too off topic. You do what you love, you spend your days creating. Now all you have to do is make it pay. Cropping an exclusive agency after all that uploading work may seem counter intuitive, but I have done it and it sort of psychologically "un shackles" you from a negative low end experience.

We forget we are free agents. Microstock is a business and its our own business, not the stock agencies. They are just a means to an end. Not to say i dont need them, just on my terms. I have tried making a website like symbo and others but its too time consuming. The hybrid solution works for me.

Not knowing if blogging will work or not sounds tentative. You have to be hard nosed and energetic about your business and test, try, fail, test again. You will find a river into the big sea if you keep working. The creative is only 10% of the business. The other 90% is selling it so spending time appropriately makes sense.

I'm going to give blogging a shot later on this afternoon and test the waters.  Working an overnight job full time has zapped my creativity and productivity though I have a to do list of images in a file that I need to get started on soon.  I also have a symbio site and you're right it is time consuming and I'm not really seeing much of a return on my efforts for that.  Then again I don't spend a lot of time marketing it either which I should probably kick myself in the arse and get going on.  So lack of sales on my own end is justifiably my fault where my own site is concerned.

And on the topic of leaving agencies, I just put in an email to leave Stock Fresh which knocks my list of waiting down to two left to go.

I haven't tried to blog about my images before so I'm not sure how I'd even start other than something like I've got new artwork and here's all the places you can get it?  Wonder if that would actually work.  What . what have I got to lose right?

Course I never did think that living on the low end would apply to stock work and not just the bass either  :P

StockFresh / Re: How long does it take after a payout request?
« on: September 03, 2014, 04:50 »
Thanks guys I appreciate it.

22
For about the last year I make the minimum payout every two months despite uploading.  Although I haven't uploaded regularly since about May of this year when I started working.  It's been a frustrating last 14 months where stock is concerned.

So no, you're not alone.  I've been dealing with this about July 2013 and it hasn't recovered for me yet.

23
I left 3d Studios and Big Stock this year due to low performance.  I'm waiting on 3 more to get to payout to take off my list.

I've also been far too busy with doing other things like writing and playing my bass instead of churning out illustration after illustration.  If I could ever feel more motivated to sit down for a weekend and do anything I might upload more often.  Sales everywhere have been dismal for over a year and I'm not seeing any kind of  recovery from it.  I'm trying to remain positive but it sure is hard when there's nothing to really show for your efforts.

From my area they still haven't recovered in over a year.  It still takes me 2 months now to reach payout when I used to get the minimum and over each month over a year ago.

And for me, personally, uploading new images and having them accepted just hasn't made a return on my investment of time spent on creating and uploading.

StockFresh / How long does it take after a payout request?
« on: September 02, 2014, 21:32 »
The question's in the subject.  Finally made payout there today after over 3 years from starting with them.

So how long does it take from a payout request?
