I have been trying to edit that previous post to take out istock. I dropped them years ago.

General Stock Discussion / Re: List the agencies that you've dropped in the past year and reasons why« on: August 18, 2019, 10:03 »
123, I dropped them because sales were low and it took them forfreakingever to review new uploads. I had to remind them every time. Finally, even reminding them didn't work, so I told them they weren't keeping up their end of the contributor agreement, and to pay me what they owed me and delete my profile.
istock, I dropped them when they lost my trust. Shutterstock, I dropped them when they went insane with vector upload requirements. I was unhappy for a long time before that, but stayed out of sentiment, since they were my first stock site. 203
Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock suspicious accounts "wackamoles" update« on: July 24, 2019, 07:21 »
Photos taken on the space station. Not at all suspicious.
Not that an astronaut wouldn't have a side hobby of selling stock photos, but how could they be doing the underwater photography while they're in space? 204
Adobe Stock / Re: Uploading the same file as a vector and raster illustration.« on: July 18, 2019, 08:04 »
When I do a vector version of an older illustration, I add variations, such as a black outline or stencil version.
Here's an example. One extra with no gradients, and a black outline version. ![]() 205
General Stock Discussion / Re: Is Teepublic.com partner with SS? I found some of my vectors there« on: June 11, 2019, 08:11 »
Teepublic is like zazzle or cafepress. Shutterstock may well have a "shop" there. If your correct name is on the item, that's probably what's going on. Ask support, and in a year or so, you may have an answer.

New Sites - General / Re: Exciting news! - new site ExcitingStock.com« on: May 14, 2019, 12:17 »
As a buyer, I am happy to go to ExcitingStock for all my unusually sized artboard vectors and blurry photos of dead flowers. They have everything I need, including out of focus ducks!

Shutterstock.com / Re: New dimension for EPS files (4 megapixels)« on: May 14, 2019, 10:33 »How to do it at 4mp ? I don't know how with vectors ! I never had problem before uploading my work but those changes ... i don't understand. In order to create a 4MP vector, you have to reset your artboard to a larger, non standard size. The result will be a really heavy file, unless the vector is incredibly simple. You'll also have something you probably can't upload anywhere else. Essentially, Shutterstock's new idea DOES NOT WORK. That's why I have not just disabled my portfolio, but asked to have it removed entirely. They're too stupid to be trusted with my work. 208

I wonder if I should delete my Bigstock as well, since Shutterstock owns it?

Aaaand, I'm out. I have been hot and cold about Shutterstock for some time now, and I'm finally truly fed up.
Someone in upper management had an idea, and the people who actually know how things work were unable to stop them from doing probably the stupidest thing ever in stock illustration. 210

topsimages only offers the watermarked preview anyone can download for free. They also offer a link to purchase the image. I have no problem with them.

123RF / Re: New to 123RF. How long does it take after images are uploaded to get reviewed?« on: March 03, 2019, 11:18 »
123 has always been slow to review. I started routinely sending them a message whenever I uploaded, so things would get reviewed. Now that has stopped working.
Time to bail, I think. 214

They just sweep for available files online. It's bait for their malware. Your images are not in danger.

Shutterstock.com / Re: how Shutterstock find I've second account ?« on: October 27, 2018, 16:12 »
It's pretty easy to tell when the same person is logging in to two different accounts from the same computer. If your Aunt wants to sell illustrations, she needs to get her own device, AND she should do her own uploading and checking her account.

designer093, I can't find your images in the archives. How many did you have up? What name were you using? Even if your account was removed, the thumbnails should show up in the wayback.

Upload vectors on GL the same way you do on many other sites. eps and jpg with the same name at the same time. Make sure the jpg is big enough.

Let me put it this way. If some idiot uploads my images to pixabay, and you download them, and do this, I'll sue you until your ears bleed.
So, don't take the chance. |
