Another question is how long will it take for AI to get beyond the non-sense/inaccurate images? Could be that it will be "quick" or could be it will take a long time due to the way AI image generation works.

They may have to rename it the "AI-yai-yai" collection!

What if your not very skilled or knowledgeable regarding generating AI content and you didn't do anything intentionally problematic. What if you are a new photographer and your pics are not in focus or have some other technical issue. Your photos won't get accepted...that's fine....but the analogous situation would be if AS accepted out of focus images but then later shut down your account.....because they didn't reject your out of focus photos in the first place? Valid points, but why would such an AI image pass inspection in the first place?...plus the rules are changing in real time. 230

This may (is likely?) to be a fluke, but I submitted an editorial image about a week ago and it was reviewed and approved overnight! I was shocked as most reviews were taking weeks. 232
Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock photo sales is now only 1/6 of what it used to be« on: August 15, 2023, 10:29 »why doesn't Stocksy count? Because there are only 3 votes. Also, Stocksy is a fairly closed agency like Getty....not anyone can contribute. There's nothing wrong with that of course. They charge high prices and get them which is great, but the reality is most people are not allowed to contribute. 233

Shutterstock used to be number 1 the Poll Results, now they are number 3 (not counting Stocksy). That seems pretty straightforward and should washout any biases one way or the other.

Based on the pole results, SS seems to be a sinking ship....not exactly sure why...maybe all the 10 cent royalties?

How does that translate into things like: "For $10 month, how many images can the user generate?" 237

What would be interesting to know is for those selling AI images as stock, how do the $$$ work out? In other words what is the net revenue selling genAI stock vs. the cost of "membership" to the genAI websites? 238
General Stock Discussion / Re: AI again ...« on: August 07, 2023, 08:14 »
As an interesting side note. Many times you can tell an AI image because things look too "smooth" (for lack of a better word). But I have also seen that actual photos that are over-processed can have this same look...they can look as if generated by AI.

Do the various AI companies maintain enough rights to the images generated by users that they could turn around and start competing with the stock agencies?

Well from an income perspective, based on the chart at the right, SS has dropped to third place....maybe that goes hand in hand with how they are doing financially as a company.

If you use MidJourney, is the agreement such that Midjourney could also upload all your output to the stock agencies and sell it themselves?

Which why for me it makes perfect sense to take it. Good points. I believe AI will "get there" not making "mistakes", but it may take long enough to give AI images a really bad name among commercial users...enough so that they just avoid it and defer to using actual photographic imagery for quite some time. 246
General Stock Discussion / Re: AI are outperforming stock photos on Adobe« on: June 09, 2023, 13:52 »
I'm guessing one important factor is as follows:
- Many photos uploaded to Stock sites aren't super saleable....i.e. snapshots, nice landscapes....etc.. Generally with stock, photos with people in "interesting" locations (e.g. offices) sell better. For a photographer, that means hiring models with releases etc., and getting those interesting locations. For AI, it is no problem to include "people" as subjects in "interesting lcations". In general, with good prompts, AI can produce saleable images without having to hire actual models or travel to interesting or challenging locations as a photographer would have to do. 247
