General Photography Discussion / Issue with viewing certain Raw files« on: June 06, 2023, 21:15 »
I have a bit of an issue viewing certain Raw files with my current pc in file explorer. I can see thumbnail images generated by my Panasonic G6 Raw images in File Explorer. Though there are no thumbnail images for Raw photo files that were shot with the Panasonic G7. And that makes the sorting and organising of files much harder. Would anyone know of anything I could install on my computer that would allow me to see thumbnail images for the G7 Raw files in File Explorer?

Pond5 / Re: Zero sales so far this year. I dont think Ive ever gone 3 months with no sales« on: June 03, 2023, 12:18 »Venice is all editorial, and editorial is rarely bought. Roughly about half of my videdo sales are editorial. Actually, my best selling video on P5 happens to be editorial. Buy a tripod and a gimbal, everything is not stable in your frame. Agreed. I see way too many shaky hand held videos in this port. And those pans need lots of improvement. 230

Woops, I was looking at pending images, not videos. Yes, my videos are there and awaiting review.

Pond5 / Re: Zero sales so far this year. I dont think Ive ever gone 3 months with no sales« on: June 03, 2023, 08:05 »I'm reaching out because I recently joined Pond 5 as a contributor, and I could use some advice. Despite having 900 videos in my portfolio, I haven't made any sales yet. I have a significantly smaller video port compared to yours and when I first started in P5, it took me ages to get my first sale. May have been a few months but I can't recall. When I got my first sale, other sales started occurring not too long after. Another P5 contributor said their experiences were pretty much the same when they started. A very long wait for that first sale and then the flood gates are open. There were even instances when I would get a sale and then about a week later, I would get another sale. Unfortunately later on, something happened. Something changed. Sales seem to have dried up. It's extremely rare when I get any sales from P5 these days. And it looks like other contributors are having similar experiences. 232
Shutterstock.com / Pending files for review not visible?« on: June 03, 2023, 05:12 »
Ive just submitted some HD video files to SS via Stocksubmitter. According to Stocksubmitter, they were submitted earlier this evening. Though when I got to the SS site, there are 0 files pending review. And 0 files to submit and no files have been recently reviewed. Is this a bug?
SS did have an issue like this in the past where files pending review would not be visible. 233
Dreamstime.com / Re: What are the usual video royalties on DT?« on: May 15, 2023, 02:07 »
Hmmm....now I'm not so sure if submitting videos to DT is a good idea or not. Apparently, if P5 find out that your videos are on other agencies, they will lower the price of a sale to match the other agency. Though then again, there are so many variables which influence the price on an agency like DT or SS. It's not exactly a fixed price. Though I get the impression that generally, videos would be priced lower on DT compared to P5.

I just went to deepmeta.com and it's not there. "404 website not found."
Regardless, it looks like Ive likely found the official site anyway. Oddly, the url is the same one above. 235

iStockPhoto.com / Deepmeta - commercial and editorial« on: May 11, 2023, 18:31 »
It's been quite a while since Ive used Deepmeta and Ive forgotten a lot of the details. Just now, Ive watched a comprehensive tutorial on how to use this software to refresh my memory so I can use it again and start uploading more content to iStock. I do recall that you need to submit commercial and editorial photos in separate batches. Though I didn't come across that aspect in the tutorial (unless I missed it somehow.) Just wondering how I would mark a batch as commercial or editorial?

Alamy.com / Re: your biggest sale on Alamy? and when was it?« on: May 08, 2023, 07:15 »A nice surprise this morning: 4 sales for a $694.22 total (gross), 40% mine. First time it happens all in one day (Champagne !!!) Woah, that is awesome! 238
Video Equipment / Sofware / Technique / Re: File Sizes for 24fps vs. 30fps« on: May 08, 2023, 02:26 »3. Television in buyers' countries is 30 fps standard. North American and Japanese TV use 30fps as well as a few other Asian countries. The majority of countries use 25fps for their television. 4. You can make 24 fps out of 30 fps, but you can't make 30 fps out of 24 fps. For countless decades, many of the big budget US TV shows were shot on film (at 24fps) and then converted to 30fps. I could list many examples of these - Bewitched, MASH, Charlies Angels, The Six Million Dollar Man, Happy Days, Miami Vice, Knight Rider, The A Team, LA Law, NYPD Blue, Ally McBeal, Sex & The City, Seinfeld, Scrubs and so on. Plus these days, there are a number of big budget TV series shot on digital (at 24fps) within the US. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of US TV content is shot at 30fps. 239

Dreamstime.com / Re: Would like some advice on Dreamstime. Thanks« on: May 05, 2023, 20:41 »
I find the DT uploading process mostly straight forward except for one thing. Their web uploader is really buggy. Uploaded images seem to disappear and I have to start over again. And this could happen a few times. Now that's with photo files which is frustrating enough. Though last night, I tried using their web uploader to submit video files for the first time and that is a whole new level of frustration. So many times, the web uploader stops the transfer part way through and I have to start again. And again and again and again. It's morning now and none of my video files have been successfully transferred. 241
Dreamstime.com / Re: Would like some advice on Dreamstime. Thanks« on: May 05, 2023, 20:30 »I think it is possible to use your earnings on Dreamstime to buy photos, not sure though if it works below the $100 threshold. I thought I recall someone asking about that on DT's own forum a few years ago. So far, this individual had no sales and was wondering if he could buy his own images from his port. I guess he was so desperate to get sales that he thought it was worth trying this. Regardless, one of the mods said that this wasn't allowed. Though I guess there might be a difference here. This guy had no earnings from Dreamstime. So I'm not sure if it makes a difference if you make earnings from DT or not. 242

Pond5 / Re: Zero sales so far this year. I dont think Ive ever gone 3 months with no sales« on: March 20, 2023, 21:48 »Shutterstock announced their "good news" about finalizing the Pond5 takeover I think around Jan 2023. My sales on P5 have been few and far between for a long time now. And if SS is taking over, I could only imagine things will get worse (especially with regards to royalties.) However, around mid January, I received a $46.40 HD video sale via P5. So good things can still happen at least for the time being. Though later down the track, one can only guess at what plans SS have in store for P5. 244
MicrostockSubmitter / Issues after installation of Stocksubmitter« on: March 20, 2023, 20:45 »
Ive been trying to install Stocksubmitter on a new pc running Windows 10 Pro / 64bit. I went through the usual installation steps but the program won't open. When I try and open it, I see the horizontal green bar moving across the screen from left to right with the text: "Checking for updates."
After that, I get: "Comparing files" "checking whether the files get modified" "No updates found" "Completed (success)" "Differences found: 0" This is all displayed very briefly and then disappears. The Stocksubmitter program never appears. I got the same result multiple times last night and today as well. Should I delete the program and reinstall it? 245

General Photography Discussion / Re: Getting started with drone video for microstocks« on: March 20, 2023, 19:54 »If you shoot tourist sites in cities, it may be a profitable business. That would be rather challenging considering that most cities around the world have banned drones. I don't think I would fly mine in a city regardless - the risk is too great with all the people and buildings around. 247
Shutterstock.com / Re: Not only do the recent changes to the landing page not work well« on: March 20, 2023, 18:31 »I miss the global sales map. I guess that's a part of history now. Ah I see the map now. Though mine doesn't show the whole globe. I also get broken thumbnails when I let the cursor hover over the blue spots - probably because I closed my photo port on SS. It's a pity that this map doesn't show video sales because that's all I sell on SS these days. Also, I'd like to see my sales info on the main page as well instead of having to go to another page to learn about the details of each sale. This main page is now just mostly wasted space. 248
General Stock Discussion / Re: Mr. Rinder?« on: March 20, 2023, 09:47 »
I do remember reading about Rinder's musical contribution to the film Enter The Ninja. Also, one of the SS forum members was watching an old movie (can't recall the title) and Rinder's name appeared in the credits for the music.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Rejects« on: March 20, 2023, 04:50 »
In the past, I found reviews on Adobe Stock to be more harsh. I used to get a fair few rejections but also a fair few accepted images as well. Can't recall if it was close to a 50 / 50 split or not. In more recent times, Ive found the AS reviewers are a lot more generous. Currently, I only have the occasional issue with illustrative editorial images. Some of my images are accepted as IE and some aren't (it seems pretty random.) Most of the photos I submit as IE have similar kinds of subjects with no recognisable people but apparently, some just don't qualify as IE.
